Being a part of the Egyptian Pharmaceutical StudentsFederation, SAMPS which was founded in 1992 has
the same objective as the EPSF which is studying andpromoting the interests of pharmacy students andencourages the cooperation amongst them.
Recently, SAMPS managed to offer Mansura
students the first aid course in coordination with
the faculty of nursing and the Egyptian Red CrescentSociety. Moreover, SAMPS participated in theorganization of the Future Pharmacist Program organized mainly by the EPSF andabout 20 students managed to take part in this program.
Among the events organized by SAMPS recently were seminars and campaigns aboutvarious topics. How to build your personality and improve your working skills, fastingand its health benefits and workshops on alternative medicine were the main topicsdiscusses. And of course, SAMPS had the honor to participate in the EPSF 10thcongress held in the MSA Now wait for our future events!
Those include selling skills courses, trips to PHARCO pharmaceutical company &SSGMA and our annual fine arts fair!
We wish pharmacy students all over Egypt the best of Luck!

And we hope for the next conference to be a start for a great project wherepharmacy students all over Egypt share and cooperate. We have great potentials andwe are sure that with cooperation we will be able to reach our aims. It will be also nice ifall EPSF member association can work together in a big event where we can exchange

Since CSPSA was established on March, 1994 till now,
we are very keen and persistent to reach our goal through our very own vision towardssuccess. Dreaming of ultimate success, we discovered the corner stone of all greatorganizations' success; professionalism.
Professionalism is not limited to high performance but should be viewed from the angle ofcreative thinking. Professionals have some traits which are truly the secret behind theirsuccess. They are tolerant enough that they are able to look at the same thing from differ-ent angles. Moreover, they use their imagination skills rather than the traditional ones. Inaddition, they have enough knowledge about their profession field and also the other re-lated fields.
Applying this 'Professionalism Theory" to our work, CSPSA along with the EPSF could
make many achievements. We managed to organize the EPSF 8th
congress and EPSF 4th
Symposium. Also, one of our events is CSPSA Symposium which is one of our most im-portant annual events. Cairo University students could actively participate in the EPSF10th Congress held in the MSA.
The dawn of every day brings a mixture of experiences & situations, joy and sadness, suc-cess and failure, optimism and frustration; whatever comes to you with every sunrise, every day is a GIFT from Allah. You have to look at the gift of going through a new daywith gratitude
Love from all CSPSA Board and active members

Avian flu refers to influenza in poultry. However, infections among mankind have beenreported since 1997. It is caused by a type of influenza viruses which are naturally presentin the gut of world wide birds. Susceptible birds get sick through contact with secretions ofinfected birds.
Humans can get infection through contact with infected poultry or their secretions, brokencontaminated eggs or aerosolization of the virus and landing on exposed surface of mouth, nose, eyes or being inhaled into lungs.
Human to human transmission is rare but due to continuous changes, the virus is expectedto adapt overtime and spread among mankind leading to an influenza pandemic*.
Unfortunately, since the virus doesn't commonly infect humans, scientists haven't beenable to develop a commercially available vaccine or provide remedy for this serious dis-ease. However, the National Institute of Health is enrolling volunteers for clinical trials of avaccine that may provide protection against H5N1 avian flu.
People most susceptible to the disease are those involved in dealing with live poultry aspoultry breeders in farms or markets for live poultry.
Basic means of prevention necessitate: Awareness about the importance of strict adherence to and proper use of hand
hygiene after contact with infected or exposed poultry or their wastes.
Banning bird imports and hunting from areas that have reported avian flu cases. Avoidance of contact between poultry and wild birds especially water fowl.
Bio-security measures including maintenance of cleanliness of farms, applicationof disinfectants as iodine and formalin containing compounds
Well done food as the virus is inactivated by heating at 56C/3 hours or 60C/30min. Also, it faces the same fate upon exposure to acidic pH.
Vaccination using the current seasons influenza vaccine to reduce the possibilityof dual infection with avian and human influenza viruses which may result inreassortment. The resultant hybrid virus could be highly transmissible among peopleand lead to widespread infections.
*Pandemic: an epidemic occurring over a very wide area, crossing international boundariesand usually affecting a large number of people. A global epidemic.
*reassortment: mixing of genes from human and avian viruses.

Egyptian scientists were able to achieve a new discovery that may save the lives of manypatients all around the world. MESENCHYMAL CELLS was the magic keyword of thisdiscovery publicly discussed for the first time in the Second Annual Conference forscientific research, recently held by Cairo University
.
The idea simply depends on using the mesenchymal cells(the primitive cells that rapidlydivide to give rise to new organs in the fetus or to substitute dead cells in children andadults)instead of donated organs in case of hepatic failure caused by chronic hepatitis C, oreven in case of malignant tumors.
Dr. Wafaa El-Matanawy, Professor of nuclear medicine in Faculty of medicine, Cairo
University and one of the participants in this research, suggested a public campaign toencourage all pregnant women to store an amount of their placental blood in a special bankthat will be created for this purpose to be a source of mesenchymal cells for their children infuture in case they need it for any health emergency.
