INDEX
What is the Environmental Engineering?
Is the branch of the engineering that one entrusts
of the design of technologies directed to avoiding
and controlling the pollution of the environment
caused by the activities of the man.
• Also this branch studies the problems bearing in mind the scientific, chemical, ecological, social and economic dimensions.
• In this discipline brings together the knowledges of the natural sciences like the BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY or the PHYSICS.
Objective• Obtain that all the human beings have a better quality of life.
• Support the ecological balance of the planet for the future generations.
How it did arise?
• When the human beings began to warn their health was depending on the conditions of the environment.
• The environmental modern engineering , as we know, it developed of middle of the 19th century in England.
Important points for investigate
Water
• The water is one of the most abundant compounds in the nature.
• Covering ¾ of the terrestrial surface.
Water Flow Aeratio
nMixe
dFloculation
Sedimentation
FiltrationChlorationDistribution
Water treatment for human consumption
Ground
• The ground is the thin cap of bark where the human beings live.
• This one is affected by the climatological changes and the descomposition of organisms.
Air
• Pollutants of the air
Carbon Monoxide
Hydrocarbons
Sulfur Dioxide
Photochemical Oxidants
Nitrogen Dioxide
Suspended Particles
Social factors that influence the development and application of the environmental engineering
Environmental Impact
• It has a relation with the social factor.
• It is the significant repercussion that the human activities have on the environment.
Economic and political factors
• The industrialized nations and those who are in development contribute to the degradation of the environment
Demographic Factors
• The world population every time grows more and this affects the exploitation of the resources as the ground (ranching (cattle), felling tree), the water ( fishing, spillages of substances) and the air (more use of industries)
Professional profile of the Environmental Engineer
• To plan the sustainable use of the environment .
• To propose environmental policies.
• Elaborate studies of environmental impact
• Environmental management.
• Measures of mitigation and control of pollutant processes.
• To evaluate environmental aspects.
• To monitor natural resources.
• To propose solutions of environmental character
