SAN LUIS OBISPO CAMPUS CLASSESJr. College for Kids is launching in the summer of 2018 as the result of over a year of planning and collaboration between Camp Fire and Cuesta College Community Programs. Jr. College for Kids is designed for students entering Kindergarten through 4th grades in the fall of 2018.
• Students are supervised at all times
• If staying for a full-day program, please bring a sack lunch
• Granola bars and fresh fruit will be provided for snack in both morning and afternoon sessions
• Consider bringing a water bottle, closed-toe shoes, hat and/or sunscreen for outdoor play, layers of clothing for variable weather, and any additional snacks desired
• Schedule is subject to change
• Full day includes a supervised lunch period from 12:20-1pm
• Before and after care are available for an additional charge
• Thursdays will include a special theme day and closing ceremony.

Have fun learning about yourself, your strengths, feelings, and making new friends. Create a 'me’ collage, do a special full-size 'me’ drawing
Afternoon: Safety First
Learn new skills, how to lead a game, good manners, fire safety, bicycle safety, bike relay, puzzles, basic first aid, and play a safety ball game.
Session 2 June 25-28 Trail to the EnvironmentMorning: Nature Awareness
Explore, appreciate, respect, and care about the natural world. Enjoy water play, animal hide and seek, nature hunts, learn about wind and clouds, and create a garden.
Afternoon: Outdoor Skills
Explore nature and learn basic outdoor skills: outdoor cooking, simple knot tying, nature crafts, and candle making.
Session 3 July 2-5 (No Class July 4) Trail to the FutureMorning: Exploring Space
Learn about space and our solar system all while creating lifelike models of different rockets as well as interactive activities and projects with the galaxy as your playground.
Afternoon: Wonder of Science
Explore the wonder of science and learn why and how things happen. Create and shoot a balloon rocket, launch a parachute into the air, make bubbles, learn what causes static electricity, and play with magnets. Learn about chemical changes and create a robot out of cardboard.
Session 4 July 9-12 Trail to Creative LivingMorning: Being Creative Through Art
Explore art through printmaking, photography, painting, making homemade clay, weaving, and creating a mobile. Express your creativity!
Afternoon: Being Creative Through Music
Experience musical awareness and self-expression through music. Make musical instruments, learn new songs, singing games, learn about vibrations, and make new friends.
Session 5 July 16-19 Trail to the EnvironmentMorning: Wise Old Willie
Appreciate nature, protect our environment and conserve natural resources. Learn about wildlife, soil and plants, energy, water, air pollution, recycling, and littering.
Afternoon: Sports and Games
A week filled with outdoor and indoor fun with games. Learn good sportsmanship and cooperation games. Participate and learn new relay races with water, paper, and string; ball games; indoor games; and go on a sardine hunt.
Session 6 July 23-26 Trail to Creative LivingMorning: Happy and Healthy
Learn good health habits and understand the importance of exercise and good nutrition. Play fun food games, make a silly germ plate, and make a food collage. Explore and create fun healthy snacks while creating your own healthy cookbook and apron.
Afternoon: Being Creative Through Drama
Explore your dramatic side! Have fun with puppets, create a story, prepare a skit, take an imaginary trip, and create a play.

SAN LUIS OBISPO CAMPUS CLASSESCollege for Kids provides an enriching opportunity during the summer for students entering the 5th through 9th grades in the Fall of 2018. The varied curriculum is designed to meet the needs of students who are eager to explore subjects in a fun and educational environment. Students must be enrolled in consecutive classes during their time on campus. Breaks between classes are not allowed.
• Students ARE NOT SUPERVISED on campus between classes
• Classes are not remedial in nature. Students with special needs are encouraged to contact the Community Programs before registering for classes at 546-3132
• Classes are scheduled for 50 minutes in an hour block to allow 10 minutes travel time to the next class
• Since rooms are scheduled throughout the campus, please check schedule for room locations. Your students may have a bit of a distance to travel between classes. Additionally, bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates, scooters, and any other human powered mechanical transportation devices are not allowed on campus in accordance with Section 2113 of the State of California Vehicle Code and the policies and regulations of Cuesta College.

COLLEGE FOR KIDS PARENT/GUARDIAN & STUDENT ORIENTATIONStudents enrolled in the College for Kids Program are asked to attend an orientation meeting with their parents/guardians. A tour will conclude the orientation.

CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATIONRegistering online: Detailed instructions are provided under ActiveNet Instructions and via our website; staff is available to help you during office hours. Maps and information specific to your class are also available online. If you register by mail or fax, a receipt will be emailed/mailed to you. Please allow one week for delivery. Please remember that with mail or fax registration requests; online has 1st come 1st processed. Register early and we suggest the online component to guarantee your child/rens spot in their desired classes.
CANCELED CLASSESAdvance registration is recommended to avoid canceled classes; however, in the event enrollment minimums are not met, the class may be canceled. Registered students will be notified in advance and have the fees transferred to another class at no charge other than class fees associated, or choose to receive a full refund.
REFUND/TRANSFERSPlease take care in selecting classes to avoid refund and transfer charges.
If you cannot attend a class for which you are registered, a written request must be received in the Community Programs office at least 5 business days before the activity begins. The refund, minus a $10 processing fee per class, will be issued within 3-4 weeks.
A transfer from one class/event to another is available for a $10 transfer fee.
LIMITED SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLEWe are pleased to offer a scholarship program to enable financially disadvantaged students to participate in College for Kids. Eligible students must be 15 years of age or younger and a resident of San Luis Obispo County. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of student need and funding available.

• Proceed with adding each family member you want on the account (include Grandma/Grandpa too) AND who you are registering for children please make sure their last name is correct (the system will default to your last name) the “Emergency Contact” area is for other family members or friends you would be comfortable with receiving a call in case you are not available (add spouses, significant others as additional family members - the emergency contact area will not add those as family members to your account);
• Once all family members are added click Submit;

• The CFK Overall will appear

• Pick a College for Kids class in each timeframe;
• The timeframes are separated by how long the classes are NOTE: classes are 1hr or 2hrs long for example: if you choose 8:30am 2hr class leave 9:30am timeframe blank and continue to the 10:30am grid. A complete schedule is available at our website for convenience;
• Choices for Morning and Evening Homerooms (child care) are also built in the schedule;
• Once the class choices are done please review with your child to ensure what they want to avoid additional changes later;
• Click next ( let system process which could take up to a minute);
• Additional information will appear that is needed for staff and instructors These are mandatory areas even if filled out “not applicable”;
• Click next;

• Each class will appear with fees associated review each class and click proceed to shopping cart;

Enrollment: Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Online, mail-in and fax registration begin as soon as you receive this brochure. Students 16 years and older may enroll in adult education/recreation classes.
Pre-registration is recommended as all classes/activities and events have enrollment requirements.
Registration: Registering online; detailed instructions are provided under ActiveNet Instructions and via our website; staff is available during office hours to help you. Maps and information specific to your class are also available online. If you register by mail or fax, a receipt will be emailed/mailed to you. Please allow one week for delivery. Please remember that with mail or fax registration requests online has 1st come 1st processed advantage. Register early, we suggest the online component to guarantee your registration in a desired class or classes.
Refund/Transfers:• Please take care in selecting classes to avoid refund
and transfer fees.
• If you cannot attend a class for which you are registered, a written request must be received in the Community Programs office 5 business days before the activity begins. The refund, minus a $10 processing fee per class, will be issued within 3-4 weeks.
• A transfer from one class/event to another is available for a $5 transfer fee.
• Refunds are not available for Public Events or online classes.
Canceled Classes: Advance registration is recommended to avoid canceled classes; however, if a class/activity/ event enrollment minimums are not met, the class may be canceled. Registered students will be notified in advance and have the fees transferred to another class, or choose to receive a full refund.
Senior Discounts: Adult 62 years and older receive a 10% discount on classes/activity automatically if a birth date is provided. Some classes/activities/events by design are not applicable for this discount (payment plans, special pricing, online courses, Public Events) and discounts cannot be combined.
Parking:• Cuesta College Parking permits are required for all
vehicles parked on the North County and San Luis Obispo campuses - Monday-Saturday, 5am-10pm, whenever the District is in session.
• $2 daily permits are available from the Community Programs Office for all Community Programs patrons.
• Daily parking permit machines are also available in all paved lots.
• As a registered Community patron, you may purchase a semester permit from the Community Programs Office via online, mail, FAX, phone or walk-in. Semester permits are available by pick up only in the 4700 Building. Parking permits will NOT be mailed.
