egular dental care helps prevent idental emergencies. However dental emergencies will still occur and listed here are some of the
more common ones Toothache/Sensitive TeethA toothache or a sensitive tooth can be caused by several different types of problems. At times it is a sign of a dying nerve inside the tooth. Over-the-counter pain relief medication can temporarily relieve the pain. Contact a dentist for an appointment as soon as you notice the problem. Slight pain, if left untreated, can progress into facial swelling and severe pain. Commonly, tooth pain can be eliminated with endodontic treatment (root canal therapy) or sometimes due to the severity of decay and damage to bone an extraction may be needed. A sensitive tooth may be due to exposed root, a leaking or defective filling, decay, a bite-related problem, or a dying nerve. Go for an evaluation.Broken ToothTeeth with large fillings can easily break or fracture. If the broken tooth is not treated, more serious problems can develop. Broken teeth may or may not be sensitive to air and temperature changes. Sensitivity and pain are not necessarily an indication of how badly the tooth is damaged.Tooth Knocked OutPlace the tooth in water or a wet towel or cloth or milk or in-between your mouth cheeks. Do not try to scrub or wash the tooth. Get the tooth and the patient to us immediately. The faster the tooth can be repositioned, the better the odds that the tooth can be saved. Time is crucial.Object Stuck Between TeethUse dental floss to gently remove the object. Do not use sharp or pointed objects to push or pry the object from between your teeth. If the object does not come out easily, come to us for help. Final or Provisional Crown/Bridge Falls OutSee us as soon as possible to have the crown recemented. If this is not possible, you can use a denture adhesive (FIXODENT®, for example) that can be purchased without a prescription. Place a small amount in the crown and reseat it. Do not try to force it into place. When you cannot put the crown in correctly, save it, and bring it with you to your appointment. The
reason the crown came out MAY make it impossible for the dentist to recement the old crown. That decision will be made during your examination.Broken Partial or Denture Bring the partial or denture to us for repair. Do not try to glue the plastic yourself. IngredientsFor the Filling:» 3 pounds mixed apples (such as Golden Delicious, McIntosh and Pink Lady)» 2/3 cup sugar» 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice» 6 tablespoons unsalted butter» 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour» 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon» Pinch of ground cloves» Pinch of freshly grated nutmegFor the Dough:» 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting» 1/4 cup sugar, plus more for sprinkling» 1 teaspoon salt» 1/4 cup vegetable shortening» 1 stick cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch pieces 2 large eggs
Directions • Prepare the filling: Peel, halve and core the apples. Cut each half into 6 wedges and toss with the sugar and lemon juice in a bowl. Melt 4 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the apple mixture and cook, stirring occasionally, until the firmer apples begin to soften but still hold their shape, 8 to 9 minutes. Sprinkle with the flour, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg and toss until the juices begin to thicken, about 1 minute. Remove from the heat and cool completely. (The filling can be made up to 2 days ahead; cover and refrigerate.)
Make the dough: Pulse the flour, sugar and salt in a food processor until combined. Add the shortening and pulse until it disappears, about 30 seconds. Add the butter and pulse until the mixture looks like coarse meal with pea-size bits of butter. Beat 1 egg with 1/4 cup ice water in a bowl, then add to the processor and pulse once or twice. (Stop before the dough gathers into a ball.) Lay out 2 sheets of plastic wrap; divide the dough between the sheets and pat each into a disk. Wrap the disks tightly and refrigerate until firm, at least 1 hour.
Roll 1 disk of dough into a 12-inch round on a floured surface (or between 2 pieces of floured parchment paper). Ease into a 9 1/2-inch deep-dish glass pie plate. Add the filling, mounding it slightly, and dot with the remaining 2 tablespoons butter. Chill the pie while you roll the remaining dough into a 12-inch round.
Lay the dough over the filling and press the 2 crusts together around the edges. Fold the overhanging dough under itself and crimp with your fingers. Beat the remaining egg in a bowl and brush over the top crust; sprinkle with sugar. Pierce the top with a knife a few times to let steam escape. Chill 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Place the pie on a baking sheet; bake until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly, 55 to 60 minutes. (Cover the edges with foil if they brown too quickly.) Transfer to a rack and cool until set, 2 hours.

alent identification is the holy grail of sports, business, parenting, and education. We dream of having the magical ability to quickly and
accurately assess who is destined to succeed; to sort the contenders from the pretenders.Funny thing is there was once a clever scientist who figured out how to do just that. His name was Dov Eden; he was an Israeli psychologist who worked with businesses and the military. In the early 1980s Eden published a remarkable study that showed he could predict with uncanny precision which young recruits in the Israeli military would become top performers. It worked like this: Eden studied the mental and physical aptitudes of one thousand recruits, and then selected a handful of soldiers he labeled as “high potential.” Eden informed platoon commanders that they could “expect unusual achievements” from these individuals.Sure enough, Eden was right. Over the next 11 weeks, Eden’s group performed significantly better than their peers — 9 percent higher on expertise tests and 10 percent higher on weapons evaluation. It appeared to the entire world like an impressive display of talent identification — except that it wasn’t.Because here’s the twist: the “high-potential” soldiers weren’t really high-potential. Eden had selected them completely at random. The real power was in the act of labeling them as high-potential. In sending a simple signal — these people are special. That signal had created a massive effect in both the mind of the instructor and the learner — a virtuous spiral between teacher and learner that led to the full expression of potential. (The phenomenon, dubbed the Pygmalion Effect, has been repeated many times, and is particularly powerful in educational settings.)

The story, told in Adam Grant’s marvelous new book Give and Take, gives us a glimpse into the power of labels, and how they affect our subconscious. The underlying picture: the unconscious minds of most teachers are naturally thrifty with energy and attention — after all; they don’t have all the time in the world. They thus look at each new student with a questioning eye: do they have what it takes? Is this a good investment? The high-potential label is like a flashing sign reading THIS PERSON IS A GREAT INVESTMENT — that triggers a cascade of positive effects. First impressions are uniformly positive. Early mistakes aren’t treated as verdicts; but as learning opportunities. Progress isn’t treated as luck, but as a happy inevitability.I think this is precisely the kind of thinking that distinguishes master teachers. They share a hesitancy to judge; a stubborn, seemingly illogical optimism. They see failures as stepping stones to progress. They begin each new encounter with a single thrilling thought: this person is special.
“Eden studied the mental and physical aptitudes of one thousand recruits, and then selected a handful
of soldiers he labeled as “high potential.” Eden informed platoon commanders that they could “expect

There can be a need to take a hard look at both spending and debts this month, dear Aries, as you may be accountable for recent neglect or extravagance. Some of you could be dealing with this energy on an intimate level, and you might question issues of sharing, fairness, and power dynamics in a partnership. For example, circumstances may be such that you suddenly see huge imbalances or discrepancies. Fortunately, you have a lot of energy for work and self-care programs this month, and not a whole lot stands in the way of pursuing your goals. You can easily get all fired up and ready for action when it comes to tending to your daily routines, fitness, nutrition programs, and detail work. Work out frustrations or troubling emotions by keeping active and getting a lot of fresh air and light this month. Venus moves into your career and reputation sector on the 5th, helping to endear you to authority figures (bosses and parents, for example), the general public if appropriate, and to business
Partnerships and significant relationships with others are in strong focus this month, dear Taurus. Problems that have been previously swept under the carpet or held at bay have a way of emerging now, possibly with great force. However, you have great support from fiery, passionate, and assertive Mars in November, and once sticky problems are handled, you can achieve that rare balance between responsibility and enjoyment; between stability and excitement. Just when you may be thinking that life’s all about others’ wants and agendas, the Full Moon on the 17th occurs in your sign and your own needs make themselves hear loud and clear. In the days leading up to the Full Moon, your emotions may be all over the place. It’s possible that you burst forth with a surprising proclamation now. Certainly, a personal revelation can occur. You’re more grounded but still enthusiastic on the 18-19, when opening up the lines of communication can bring opportunities.
November might be considered a time to get organized and in control of the daily details of your life, dear Gemini, although the push to do so may not be great fun in the heat of the moment. This is a time when previous neglect of personal health or daily chores can come back to haunt you. Going over past errors, redoing projects, smoothing over differences on the job, getting on track with health and fitness - all of these matters occupy your mind and your time this month. Implementing and maintaining an exercise or nutrition program should be a priority now, and a Solar Eclipse occurring this month may very well send you a reminder. Any “crisis” occurring in your work at this time is simply clearing the way towards better work conditions. Although routine matters can get boring at times, reworking and reorganizing these things can be very satisfying. Luckily, family members might be on board and supportive.

This Month Scor pio2013 Horoscope
Famous Scorpio : Whoopi GoldbergBORN: NOVEMBER 13, 1955 - NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, USAActress and comedienne Whoopi – born Caryn Elaine Johnson - has four aspects in intense and brooding quadruple Scorpio – but she also has a great sense of humor, especially given that her nickname and name she uses professionally – “Whoopi” – comes from the infamous whoopee cushion! After making a successful name for herself in films and TV, Whoopi now also dabbles in radio broadcasting, something that comes naturally to people with their speech-driven Mercury in articulate Scorpio.
Famous Scorpio : Leonardo DiCaprioBORN: NOVEMBER 11, 1974 - HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA, USALeo’s come a long way since his Growing Pains days! Although he is outspoken for his favorite causes, including environmental/global warming issues, in his personal life he epitomizes the phrase “still waters run deep,” which is a classic Scorpio trait. Often linked with beautiful models as companions, Leo is still searching for “the one,” and with his Venus in demanding and possessive Scorpio, she’ll have to be quite a woman!

The Solar Eclipse that occurs on the 3rd has some difficult energies attached to it, but it’s also good for clearing the path for new beginnings, dear Cancer. It’s less challenging for you, and in fact can help stimulate you to clear the air with a romantic partner, child, or even a creative collaborator. The trick is to strike a balance between fun and responsibility. Romantic relationships that have been too serious or draining may need revamping, or possibly even the cutting of ties. Strong ones, however, strengthen further. You have the gift of gab this month. You’re more confident about saying what you think and feel, and in fact, you could encourage others to open up through your own openness and enthusiasm.
On the surface of things, the month may not seem to be as productive as most, dear Leo, but in fact you are building your nest, gathering your resources, and preparing for busier months ahead. For some of you, circumstances are such that you may be considering a big move or other change that affects your domestic life, and possibly career, in powerful ways. This is not a period for pomp, show, and risk-taking, although you are more confident when it comes to pursuit of income in November. Try not to feel pressured into making big decisions, as they may have to wait, at the very least until after the 10th.
While the month can get off to a rather hectic, scattered, and possibly difficult start, dear Virgo, you’re likely to end it feeling that you’ve accomplished a lot. Mars is in your sign, and this influence tends to empower you with courage. However, with your ruler, Mercury, retrograde until the 10th, you may not be feeling quite so spontaneous and brave. Major decision making is best tackled after the 10th, when energy levels increase and indecisiveness no longer plagues you. As confident and energetic as you feel, however, avoid taking on too many new projects, as you’re likely to feel their weight in the last week of the month, when you’ll want nothing more than to spend your extra time relaxing at home. Moderation and focus are keys to success now.
Finances are in focus this month, dear Libra. Revisiting debts, rearranging your budget, and sorting out bills are on the agenda. A tiny crisis surrounding money or personal possessions is possible now. It’s especially important to be honest with yourself and to avoid glossing over practical details. You have the chance to truly improve the quality of your life by reworking spending, realistically assessing your talents, and recycling resources that you already have. Life becomes much less stressful after the 10th. Past generosity could be repaid now, and gifts or bonuses could from unexpected sources.
Self-involvement this month is actually quite natural and necessary, dear Scorpio, with Mercury, Saturn, and the Sun in your sign, and a Solar Eclipse occurring in Scorpio on the 3rd. This is a time for relying on yourself, making important internal changes, and greeting the world with more confidence and a healthy level of entitlement. If you are looking to change your image, now is a good time to do so. However, someone is likely to pull you out of your shell around the Full Moon on the 17th, which can alert you to relationship matters that need special attention. As well, be especially cautious that the words you use to express yourself this month are constructive, particularly until the 10th while Mercury is still retrograde in your sign.
There is a lot going on behind the scenes for you this month, dear Sagittarius, although by the last week of November, it’s easier to express yourself more directly and exuberantly. Much in the way of turbulent activity is occurring in the background in your chart, so that either your private, emotional life is especially pronounced this month, or you have a sense that something is going on deep inside you but can’t quite put your finger on it. This is a time for making peace with the past. Because emotional issues can leave you distracted, it can be difficult to fully concentrate on the practical world, although Mars transiting your career and reputation sector all month certainly demands that you do.
Early November, a Solar Eclipse shakes up your sector of friendships, group associations, and happiness goals, dear Capricorn, and you’ll sense it’s time for a new beginning. Your ruler, Saturn, is heavily involved, as is retrograde Mercury, and this combination suggests events and realizations of a karmic nature. Some of you could be ending or starting a friendship. Difficulties with friends begin to clear, slowly but surely, from the 10th forward. The 12th is an especially good time for resolving problems and accepting others for who they are. This month can be an especially sociable one for you. Venus moves into your sign on the 5th, and she’ll stay there for an unusually long time - until early March 2014.
There is a lot of activity in your career, ambition, and reputation sector this month, dear Aquarius, and it’s the kind of energy that forces you to take a hard look at these things in your life. Responsibilities are magnified, and while it can be overwhelming and frustrating at first, it’s a cosmic push to sort out professional matters and your relationship to the outside world. With Mars (all month) and Venus (from the 5th) in private sectors, there is also a lot going on behind the scenes, so that your attention can be very much divided between your public and personal lives. As well, you might have some difficulties expressing your wants, needs, and desires.
With much energy in your sector of ideals, beliefs, and adventure this month, dear Pisces, some of which is humbling, you could be in the position in which your beliefs are tested. Faith returns slowly but surely after Mercury turns direct on the 10th and your ruler, Neptune, turns direct on the 13th. You’re coming back into your own and feeling more confident. There could be some new interests on the horizon, particularly along communications, publishing, or educational lines, and now is the time for envisioning what you’d like to accomplish in the long term. Details will need clarification and refinement later; right now it’s more about the vision than it is the practical elements. You have people on your side this month, even if relations are sometimes heated.
