Huma joined DMC with her ever smiling face and two eyes gleaming with intellectafter doing her Intermediate from Hyderabad. She was extremely bright yethumble to the core, always helpful and ever ready to participate in all academic andnon academic activities. Her marvelous sense of humor endeared her to all whoknew her and the colleagues who were in her clinical batch or those who did theirhouse jobs with her would readily vouch for that.

After finishing her house job she joined Dr. Sarwar Zuberi’s research team andtogether they have done some ground breaking research in Pakistan on liver diseasein our country and this part of the world. After the tragic and untimely demise ofDr. Sarwar Zuberi, Huma carried the torch and continued working at JPMC andremained on the editorial board of JPMA.

A few years ago she was appointed as Executive Director of PMRC(Pakistan Medical Research Council) at Islamabad against all oddsleaving behind those so called ‘giants’ who had their connectionand power. Dear HumaIt has been fantastic to have known you as a friend. I have always acknowledged and respected your academic and clinical achievements. your sense of humour is great and unparallelled. I haven't eaten at dhaba with you but my memories of Lahore, Murree, Bangkok airport, west Midland and several meals are fresh in my mind. I cant take any credit for your career but the meal for five for Rs13 at a Khokha at Pindi bus stop was certainly an initiation to the final meal with Shershah. I am taking some credit for Huma’s meteoric career. I introduced her to Madame Sarwar Zuberi under the pretext of showing her some paper we had written.She completely ignored us at first, maybe that was a test of our resolve the rest is history.I think once Huma has retired from her govt job we should ask her to relate her experiences at the seat of govt in Islamabad. Shershah, Thanks for reminding us about the " Phurairi" and and its stages, which you have to elaborate on later. For the ones who haven't experienced it, you really have missed a lot in your lives by not experiencing it. Yourself, Huma, Amir and Mirza should start a formal body dedicated to the research of this phenomenon.INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR RESEARCH ON PHURAIRI. (I.S.R.P). Goals: The goals of this society include: 1) establishment of guidelines for measurement of phurairi which would make comparisons across research projects more meaningful, 2) examination of the current diagnostic criteria for diagnosis of phurairi based on results of biological, social, cognitive, and behavioral research, 3) dissemination of clinical and pre-linical phurairi research to other researchers and clinicians through symposia, publication, and newsletters, 4) maintain a phurairi website (www. phurairi.org) which will allow for online news dissemination and discussion of research findings, funding opportunities and developments in the study of Phurairi.5) Conduct one or more scientific meetings annually for its members and other clinicians and researchers interested in Phurairi at a local Dhaba. 6) Provide advice to legislative bodies and governmental agencies concerning physiologic and pathologic use of phurairi. Membership:There shall be four categories of membership: Regular Members, Charter Members, Student Members, and Corporate Members. Regular members will ordinarily individuals who experience phurairi and its benefits regularly. Charter members include the regular members who have been inducted in the "little house on the Phurairi". Charter members shall have voting rights. Student members are the ones working on their postdoctoral, doctoral and pre-doctoral training program and are interested in enriching their life experiences through phurairi. Corporate members, a corporation or an individual who is interested in Phurairi may submit an application with proper fee, subject to approval by the Charter members, their duties, privileges and responsibilities will be determined by the executive committee from time to time. They will not have any voting rights.What afflicts us today is the result of Pathologic Phurairi by people with sharply reduced frontal lobe functions the only cure of which is lobotomy.Bashir

pick me from hotel and i asked her to go to some DHABA instead of some big place with lights and GRADE 22 officers. She agreed immediatly and had our great dinner at a DHABBA on the road side-------- BUT THE DRIVER OF THE DIRECTOR OF PMRC WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THAT THE DIRECTOR ,A FEMALE IS ATING AT A DHABA ON THE ROAD SIDE NO DIRECTOR EVER HAD DONE IT---WHAT A DISGRACE but the poor driver doesnt know her she is like that from college days. IF YOU ALL REMEMBER THE THEORY OF PHURIRATTY AND ITS STAGING MIRZA PUT HER IN THE LAST STAGE---- SHE IS IN THE LITTLE HOUSE OF PURRIIE huma is great a very hard working director,an extreemly helpful person,a clinician who is always ready to treat people with liver problems.a frined you can trust and a person who ALWAYS LAUGH WITHGREAT SINCEARITY I REMEMBER MANY OCASSIONS WHEN SHE TELLS YOU PRACTICAL JOKES----MIRZA CAN WRITE ABOUT THOSE JOKES AT THE SAME TIME SHE IS A TOUGH FIGHTER. IN ISLAM ABAD 25 MILES AWAY FROM PAKISTAN IT IS HARD TO SURVIVE AS A WOMEN IN CIRCUMSTANCES WITH PEOPLE WITH MINIMAL QULIFICATION, CALIBER AND MAXIMUM CONNECTIONS AND CONTECTS BUT SHE IS NOT ONLY SURVIVING IN FACT SHE IS THRIVING JUST BECAUSE OF HARD WORK AND DEEP ROOTED HONESTYits great humawe will celeberate this ocassion soon in a different DHABBA its great to see your drivers tense faceShershah
