M. Stark,

Montana State Library; Division of Geographic Information

PO Box 201800

Helena, MT 59620-1800

Dear Ms. Stark:

I am interested in applying for the GIS Analyst position with the State of Montana Library System, position number 51530806 advertised on June 12, 2014. My experience with the NISGTC grant program developing cadastral data integration for use in demographic analysis in addition to serving as a GIS and geosciences tutor will allow me to provide an immediate benefit to the Montana State Library System as a GIS Analyst.

During my time at SLCC I received two degrees, Associates of Applied Science in Geographic Information Systems and an Associates of Science in Geography. Additionally I acquired a GIS Certification in GIS Analyst, ArcGIS Desktop, LIDAR, and several competencies within each of the ESRI ArcGIS programs.

To assist with demographic analysis both within the NISGTC grant program and for the Division of Natural Sciences, I produced several datasets utilizing the vertical integration of cadastral datasets to provide the geographic reference for point, polygon, and raster layers used to build geospatial analysis reports. We examined everything from environmental and other hard science data to socioeconomic data relating to minority enrollment in education.

I would also bring strong customer service skills and human resources skills gained through my experience as a Training Manager and Store Sales Manager. Budget management, time management, personnel management, and other soft skills have all been acquired through my variety of work and educational experience.

Thank you for the opportunity to interview for this position. I look forward to hearing from you or your office about this exciting opportunity. I can be contacted at (801) 414-5997 or by email [email protected].

Sincerely,

Steven Lizotte
