STRUCTURAL ENGINEERINGBUILDING WITH THE STRENGTH AND EFFICIENCY TO CARRY ANY LOAD. ADC’s structural engineering department provides the comprehensive knowledge, technical skills, innovative so-lutions, integrated design, and team-oriented service to create structur-ally smart buildings. We use the most advanced technology, including coordinating and documenting 100% of our projects in BIM (Revit).

ADC’s structural seismic evaluation projects include various Charleston schools and state and federal projects. In 2009 the Charleston County School Board laid out a plan to have six Charleston schools studied and then upgraded to withstand current seismic levels for the protec-tion of the students and faculty. ADC was contracted to lead the struc-tural engineering design team for Buist Academy and James Simons Montessori which were the only three-story schools to be upgraded.

The department’s high quality designs and in-depth services are rewarded with a growing list of repeat clients. We are progressive by nature and to prove it, ADC continues to strive for perfection ensuring that our designs will be functional, code-compliant and economical.

BUILDING ENVELOPESTAY DRY. ADC provides a full range of building envelope (roofing,

waterproofing and exterior walls) consulting and design services that

includes technical support and design. These projects involve various

types of steep and low-slope roof systems from the traditional to the

specialized. ADC has also provided building envelope consulting and

design services for various projects across the United States, including

significant historic structures and industrial facilities.

ADC’s building envelope department has gained 44 design awards spe-

cific to designs and reports for roofing, waterproofing and exterior wall

projects and is considered a leader in the building envelope industry.

We also maintain numerous registrations and certifications related to

the building envelope.

Building envelope maintains various indefinite delivery contracts or open

end contracts, and on-going relationships with schools, colleges, univer-

sities, state agencies, municipalities and other government agencies.

types have their complexities, K-12 schools include specific design requirements, com-

munity involvement and tight budgets that bring unique challenges. From designing

parent drop-offs, bus loops and stacking distances to the placement of the building, the

safety of our children is paramount and that is evident in every part of the site design.

Each school site and its connection to the community requires a different solution and
