The development of non-conventional gas fields can be both com-plex and expensive. Many of the technologies and concepts related to LnG Floating, production, storage and off-loading (Fpso) are also less than 10 years old, making experience a rare commodity. we are fortunate in that the GdF sUeZ Group has been amongst the pioneers to venture in this direction. drawing on our extensive on-shore experience, knowledge of liquefaction processes and marine technologies, LnG shipping expertise and rapidly developed compe-tences, we are able to provide key strategic advice on the technical feasibility, costs, planning and transport options open to developers in such ventures or operators that want to create value by developing their gas assets.

Gas TreaTMenT

onshore and offshore, we provide consultancy services related to the typical treatment and conditioning of extracted gas to ensure it

meets the required quality specifications. Fpso units are faced with unique challenges and we can advise on solutions specifically de-signed for this environment. all extracted natural gas may require various treatments that aim at removing condensates, acid gas, mercury, solids, as well as water. we will advise you of the most economical treatment choices based on the gas composition and market quality requirements.

Gas proCessInG & LIQUeFaCTIon

we can advise you on the type of LpG/LnG extraction processes either as a valuable by-product of your natural gas or as an upstream requirement for a pipeline transportation or prior to a liquefaction pro-cess. Based on our process expertise, we offer dynamic process simulations, flow assurance, turbo-machinery or compressor selec-tion. our considerable history and expertise in the design of LnG cryogenic storage and equipment is a useful asset in the develop-ment of your LnG liquefaction projects.

everyone is looking for gas at any time. In the interests of diversifying sources, operators are increasingly looking further afield, exploring new, smaller gas fields and developing small scale liquefaction units, often far offshore, as a means to protect their business and feed gas supplies.

proMoTInG Codes and sTandards

In all our services, we conform to the applicable codes and stand-ards. In the case of LnG, we also participate to their develop-ment. For example, we are members of technical committee 282 of the european Committee for standardisation, which has issued the standard applicable to the design of onshore installations (en 1473). In the United states, we have access to the relevant Commit-tee of the national Fire protection association (nFpa 59 a) through GdF sUeZ LnG na, the operator of the Boston LnG terminal. These high-profile collaborations generate ample opportunities to network and exchange ideas with other experts in the field, as does our mem-bership in industry forums.

as a means of opening up and diversifying sources of gas supply, LnG technology has moved firmly into the limelight. Governments and operators around the world are increasingly turning to LnG as a vital component of their energy mix for the future. due to this substantial investment in infrastructure, LnG has become a major growth area.

we have vast experience in the development of the aboveground installations required for underground gas storage. whether for new facilities to safeguard against political disruption of supply, or the ren-ovation of existing compression and filtration stations due to obso-lete technologies, the reduction of operating costs and the increase in environmental concern which has led to a new trend in electrical-motor operated compressors, you can rely on our knowledge to de-liver the most state-of-the-art solutions. Many years working inside operating facilities has also developed our heightened appreciation for safety and respect for the very strict procedures entailed.

speCIaLIsed sToraGe ConsULTanTs

Gas storage is a key component of many networks. we provide advice on all related aboveground facilities, notably installations for sulphur removal, dehydration (including triethylene glycol regenera-tion), expansion, metering and injection. one of the challenges of gas storage today lies in the need to modulate between steady supply and fluctuating demand. Gas storage empowers utilities to respond flexibly to changes in consumption and market conditions, but also to build reserves against supply disruptions. Facilities require increased flexibility and ease of operation to allow for a fast switch from store to send mode. our intimate knowledge of such installations is key to the inventive design solutions we are able to propose. our multi- disciplinary skills enable us to plan interventions precisely and inter-face effectively with existing installations to minimise downtime.

Beyond seasonal demand, the need for added security of supply and flexibility in operation has had an impact on the global increase and design of gas storage facilities, requiring more inventive solutions.
