    The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Unit of Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC),

    rdNeyveli celebrated the 43 Raising Day of the Force in a colourful function held at CISF

    Camp Head Quarters, Neyveli on 24.03.2012. Shri A.R. Ansari, CMD NLC, was the Chief

    guest of the Raising Day function . He applauded the CISF for the outstanding performance

    and standing a testimony for National Integration. During the function, CISF platoons led by

    Shri Sathyendra Kumar Jha, Asst. Commandant presented the Guard of Honour to CMD.

    CISF personnel displayed their skill and proficiency in weapon handling, reflex shooting, fire

    fighting, unarmed combat, stripping and assembling of different weapons with closed eyes,

    etc. The event was attended by NLC Directors Shri B.Surender Mohan, Shri R.Kandasamy,

    Shri K.Sekar, Executive Directors, Senior executives of NLC, Senior officials, jawans of

    CISF and their family members.

    Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS), Neyveli Chapter celebrated International

    Women's Day on 08.03.2012 at Lignite Hall. Shri A.R. Ansari. CMD/NLC and Chief Guest of the

    function said that the children must be educated and inculcated with cultural values for a better

    society.and stressed for joint family system in which values and cultures are focused.

    Ms. Tharini, Advocate, Consultant and writer, High Court, Chennai, Dr. Anita Ratnam,

    Neo Indian Classical and Contemporary dancer & Choreographer, Dr. I.S. Parveen Sultana,Asst. Professor, Dept. of Tamil, Justice Bhasheer Ahamed Sayeed College for women, Chennai

    were the Guests of Honour. .

    NLC Directors Shri B.Surender Mohan, Shri R.Kandasamy, Shri J.MahilSelvan, Shri

    Sarath Kumar Acharya, Shri S. Ramalingam, ED (Mines) and Shri G. Ramakrishnan, ED (SME &

    Conveyor Mines) participated in the function.Students and underprivileged women were

    provided financial assistance by Smt. K.S. Ansari on behalf of the WIPs Forum, Neyveli. A

    souvenir titled Women Key drivers of Growth was released by Shri A.R. Ansari and the firstcopy was received by Smt. K.S. Ansari. Cultural show staged by the WIPs members won

    A Seminar on Service Tax was held at Neyveli on 01.03.2012 under the aegis ofPudhucherry Central Excise Commissionerate supported by NLC Ltd.,

    Sri.T.Somasundaram, IRS, Commissioner of Central Excise was the Chief Guest. and

    Sri.D.P.Naidu, IRS, Additional Commissioner of Central Excise presided over the

    function. Sri.Saroj Kumar Sadangi, IRS, Assistant Commissioner, Central Excise

    Department, Sri.R.Mohan, GM/Finance, NLC and Sri.S.Sankaranarayanan,

    GM/Finance, NLC graced the function. Around 200 contractors, NLC officials and

    officials from Central Excise Department participated and clarified various issuesrelated to Service Tax.

    40th Official Language Implementation Committee meeting was held on 19.03.2012

    under the Chairmanship of Shri A.R.Ansari CMD NLC at Conference Hall, Corporate Office.

    Shri C.N.V.Annamalai, General Secreatary, Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Chennai

    and the Non-official nominated member of Hindi Advisory Committee, Ministry of Coal graced

    the occasion as observer and addressed the meeting. All the directors, the Unit Heads and Unit

    Heads of HR attended this meeting.

    A one-day Hindi Workshop was organized on 31.03.2012 at Employee

    Development Centre, Block-19, Neyveli for the benefit of NLC employees, on the topics

    Important Provisions of Official Languages Act, 1963 & Official Languages Rules, 1976 &

    Importance of Annual Programme, Quarterly Progress Report and Hindi Training. Shri

    Navanath Kambley, Dy. Director, Dr. Sunil Kumar Loka, Assistant Director, Hindi TeachingScheme, Chennai attended this Workshop as faculty. 60 Employees from various Units

    participated in this Workshop.

    NLC Central Safety Wing organized the XVIII Tripartite Committee Meeting on safety

    and health at Employee Development Centre on 24.03.2012. NLC Management was

    represented by Shri A.R. Ansari, CMD, NLC Directors Shri B. Surender Mohan, Shri R.

    Kandasamy and senior officials. During the meeting, Shri D. Sengupta, Dy.Director General

    of Mines Safety. Southern Zone, Bangalore, released a book on 'Safe Operating Procedures

    and Code of Practice on Ground Water Control'. Representatives of the Workers Progressive

    Union and Pattali Thozil Sangam and Workmen Inspectors joined during the discussions.

    Shri Sengupta expressed his satisfaction in NLC's compliance with various safety statutory

    provisions and NLC CMD assured to implement the suggestions of the meet.

    Shri.A.R.Ansari, CMD, NLC inaugurated the Reverse Auction, a tool

    approved by Chief Vigilance Commission for negotiation, by linking it with theOnline Integrated Materials Management System on 07.03.2012. NLC Directors

    Shri.B.Surender Mohan, Shri.R.Kandasamy, Shri.J.Mahil Selvan, Shri.Sarat

    Kumar Acharya, Shri.K.S.Balasubramanian, DGP & Chief Vigilance Officer NLC,

    Shri.N.Ilamparithi, GM/Materials management, senior officials, staff and workers,

    participated in the inaugural function. The Reverse Auction enables the Techno-

    Commercially short listed vendors to compete online during negotiation in a

    transparent manner and will help NLC to get the best price in procurement.

    07.03.12 at Mines & New Service Units Complex (B & C area) in the presence of NLC

    Directors Shri.B.Surender Mohan, Shri.R.Kandasamy, Shri.J.Mahil Selvan, and

    Shri K.Sekar, Director(Finance) laid down office on 31.03.2012 after attaining the age of

    superannuation. He joined NLC during 1975 as an executive and rose to the level of NLC Director.

    He is the first Director(Finance), qualified in both finance and engineering discipline. During his

    tenure as Director(Finance) NLC got two Rupee term loans each for Rs. 2500 Crore for our NTPL

    Power Project at Thoothukudi and Neyveli New Thermal Power Station from the consortium led by

    Bank of Baroda and State Bank of India respectively, at the most competitive interest rates.

    A warm farewell was arranged in Employment Development Centre on 29.03.2012 and ShriA.R. Ansari, CMD, NLC Functional Directors, Senior Officials, Representatives of Trade Unions

    and Associations wished Shri Sekar and his family for a peaceful retired life.

    Shri. Deepak Srivastava, IFS (TN-92), Chief Vigilance Officer of Mahanadhi

    Coalfields Limited, took additional charge as Chief Vigilance Officer of NLC on 26.03.2012. Prior to

    this, he held offices in Forests Department of TamilNadu in Nilgris, Dharmapuri, Thanjavur,Nagapattinam & Trichy Districts.

    The Neyveli Thermal Power Station-I Expansion with fully automated, state-of-the-art

    equipments like Distributed Digital Control Monitoring and Information System (DDCMIS) and eco-

    friendly power generating system, was inspected by the Central Electricity Authority officials

    on13.02.2012. Based on their assessment it bagged the Silver Shield of the National Environment

    Management Award among Coal/Lignite based Thermal Power Stations for the year 2010-11.TheThermal Power Station-I Expansion, with two units can generate 420 MW of power (4,20,000 units

    per hour) which is shared among Southern States including Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.The fly ash

    collected from this system is fully used in cement and fly ash brick manufacturing industries.

    Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde, Hon'ble Union Minister of Power presented the award to NLC at

    New Delhi on 22.03.2012. Shri A.R. Ansari, CMD, NLC and Shri B. Krishnamoorthy, CGM/TPS-I &

    TPS-I Expansion received the award on behalf of NLC. Shri K.C. Venugopal, Hon'ble Union Minister

    of State for Power, Shri P. Uma Sankar, Secretary, Union Ministry of Power, Shri Bakshi, a seniorofficial from Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and Shri B. Gowthaman, General Manager, TPS-I

    Expansion, NLC witnessed the event.

    On 28.03.2012, NLC signed with State Bank of India a Rupee Term Loan agreement for

    r2500 Crore to meet a part of 70% debt requirement of Neyveli New Thermal Power Station

    (NNTPS 2x500MW) a lignite based Thermal Power Project. Shri K. Sekar, Director(Finance), NLC andShri S.B. Nayar, Deputy Managing Director & Group Executive (Corporate Banking), State Bank of India

    signed the agreement. The agreement was signed in the presence of Shri A.R. Ansari, CMD, NLC and

    Shri Pratip Chaudhuri, Chairman, SBI and other senior officials of NLC and SBI.

    The NNTPS was sanctioned at the estimated cost of r5907.11 Crore including Interest

    During Construction (IDC) of r559.03 Crore and Foreign Exchange Component of r969.81 Crore

    (equivalent of US $ 217.009 Million).The funding of the Project will be at Debt: Equity ratio of 70:30. The

    Equity part will be funded through internal accruals and the loan component will be funded through

    Rupee Term Loan, External Commercial Borrowing, Bonds and other forms of Debt.

    Smt.K.S.Ansari, President of Neyveli Ladies Club, distributed uniform and sweet packets

    to the needy school children numbering around 300 belonging to Karunkuzhi, Therkku Melur

    and Vadakku Melur villages on 4.03.12. A special function was organised at NLC Elementaryschool Block-29 & Block-30 for this purpose. Similarly the students of Tagore Matriculation HSS,

    Block-29 & Kamaraj Elementary School, Block-30 were also distributed with the same items on

    14.02.2012 by the members of the same club.

    The Ophthalmology Dept. of NLC General Hospital organized a free eye camp at Kathazhai Village

    near Neyveli on 18.03.2012. Eye surgeons Dr. K. Usha and Dr. C. Venmal Devi screened 272 peoplefrom the village whereby 72 people were identified with vision defect and spectacles were provided.
