Estimate of New Jobs from Renewable Energy

Types of Renewable Energy High Mileage Cars still need to be small

but are getting more glamorous make over.

WASHINGTON (March 27, 2008) — The partial meltdown at the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant began on March 28, 1979.Since the accident, not a single new nuclear power plant has been ordered in the United States. Indeed, 74 plants under construction at the time of the accident were cancelled

under construction at Severodvinsk, Sevmash Shipyard located at northern White Sea which is the main facility of the State Nuclear Shipbuilding Centre.

to generate 1/15th of the power produced by a standard Russian nuclear power plant.

to be equipped with two power units using KLT- 40S reactors.

reactors will be loaded with nuclear fuel once every three years.

cost of electricity: just 5 or 6 cents per kilowatt.

the first plant would cost around 10 billion Rubles ($ 0.42 billion).

the remaining plants would cost around 5 to 6 billion Rubles ($ 0.2 to 0.25 billion) each.

More than 20 countries have shown interest in this project. Cooperation in this project with India, China, Indonesia and many African, Latin American countries are in pipeline. Depending on the agreement it may involve technology transfer or sale of only products of the plant: like electric power, heat and fresh water.

Will also be able to supply heat and electricity and desalinate seawater.

on desalination mode, will be able to produce 240,000 cubic meters of fresh water a day.

will save up to 200,000 metric tons of coal and 100,000 tons of fuel oil a year.

will have a life span of 40 years. Repaired in Russia every 12 Years

Hybrid and Electric Cars will probably be a large part of the mix. Battery Technology still major issue.

Car powered by Fuel Cells, turbine and Solar Power will be a contender in the future.

Hydrogen, Propane, Natural Gas and Bio Dispel will also be an important component of new fuels for cars and trucks

Coal power plants. Coal is the dirtiest fossil fuel, more so than oil and natural gas.

As plug-ins and electric cars hit the road in the coming years, it will be increasingly important to clean up our power plants.

Coal is the largest fossil fuel produced in the United States.

Coal is a nonrenewable energy source

Page 18: Energy 5 09

Does Coal Take up A Large amount of the world energy supply and why?

-YES. because coal is common source and it is easy to find. coal can be made into energy by just simply burning it. and coal is not as expensive as other natural resources.

Does Coal Solve The Problem Or add To The Problem?

Coal solves the problem money wise because it is not as expensive but in the atmosphere coal adds to the problem. the fact that coal has to be burned effects the atmosphere. the chemical that come from coal after its burnt are not good for the air and they can add to global warming. some of the chemical that coal produces when burnt include carbon dioxide

Quick tips: To conserve energy, reduce air pollution (Fox News)

Use fluorescent bulbs (or lower wattage bulbs) in your home.

Adjust the setting of the thermostat during summer and winter.

Turn off appliances when not in use. Dry clothes outdoors instead of using clothes

dryer. Walk or bike instead of taking a car. Turn off lights at night/when not in use. Don't leave the refrigerator door open for long

periods. Don't constantly go in and out of the house

during a short period of time. Don't leave the front door open. Recycle (aluminum, plastic, glass, newspaper,

etc.) whenever possible.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Researchers will fan out across more than 80 developing countries beginning this month to hunt out and assess many of the world's dirtiest industrial waste sites.

Universities and nonprofit groups in the countries to create a database of the sites called the Global Inventory Project.

"Caravanos said the inventory is a "first step" to help governments and international organizations prioritize the clean up of waste sites

First sites that pose health threats to people including cancer risks to adults and learning disability risks to children.

Asthma and other respiratory ailments are other problems millions of locals suffer at sites like abandoned metal mines in Africa and factories that made weapons or industrial chemicals in former Soviet Union states.
