Congregational Meeting Expectations • Encourages people to be involved and to work in the

church and give opportunity. Really put it out there.

• Continues our monthly VHS (Vision Huddle Skills) training to

open our eyes and engage us.

• Shares our present vision to use the tools Gary has given

us to keep us from falling back into our lazy butt ways.

• Continues to challenge us to get off our butt and do

something.

Page 12: Encouragers

Encouragers

• Needs to be bold in challenging us. Tells us when we are

not meeting the bar.

• Teaches the Word of God and reveals His character. We

should spend time developing our inside life as well as our

evangelistic life.

• Handles the younger and older generations equally well.

• A leader to tell me things straight up and not sugar coat it.

Page 13: Encouragers

Encouragers

• A Pastor who focuses on discipleship of the inner group to

reach the many.

• Has a heart and passion for God’s word and the world out

there like Gary. That same zeal.

• Visible beyond the church building so we know each

other.

• Has wisdom and knowledge like Gary has. The passion

from knowing God will.

Page 14: Encouragers

Encouragers

• Needs the backing of the people. If he is younger to have

the wealth of support to go to. Be sure he is well mentored.

• A pastor who is not on the defensive because he has been

hurt.

• •Has a wife who is all in.

Page 15: Encouragers

Encouragers

• Committed to a smooth transition with an overlap of a few

months with Pastor Gary Carter helping create a smooth

transition.

• Ready to work long term with Pastor Carter as the offsite

coach.

• First Baptist Church now works in a new paradigm

compared to former years. There is a firm

acknowledgement that the Pastor is the leader of the

church and must not be subjected to decision making log

jams.

• The current structure is open to redefinition based on the

knowledge of the “Accountability Leadership Model”

espoused by John Kaiser in “Winning on Purpose”. The new

pastor will lead in the development

of a new constitution for the church.

• GVCs Expectations

• Raise up a new younger leadership core

• 1 Timothy 3:6-7 … He must not be a novice in the faith, lest

being lifted up with pride, he fall into the condemnation of

the devil. Moreover he must have a good reputation with

those who are outsiders, lest he fall into reproach and the

snare of the devil.

• 1 Timothy 3:10 … They must first be

tested; and then if there is nothing

against them, let them serve as deacons.
