Welcome to the tutorial that will try to explain how to enable legacy support in

Joomla 1.5 so you will be able to install temlates, modules and components

written mainly for Joomla 1.0.x.

This will be short tutorial but I have noticed that many users don’t know how to

install templates, modules or components that are written for Joomla 1.0.x in

new Joomla 1.5.

Let’s start by loging in Joomla 1.5 backend with our admin credentials.

If you try to install template written for Joomla 1.0.x in Joomla 1.5 without

legacy support plugin enabled you will get error message like the one on the

following picture.

So, to be able to install old template in new Joomla 1.5 you will have to enable

legacy support.

Choose “Extensions” -> “Plugin Manager”

The list with installed plugins will load. Find “System – Legacy” plugin and click

on the red X icon to enable this plugin.

Here is the result of this action:

You will see that legay support is enabled by looking at the top right side of your

admin backend.

Now, we can try to install some template that is written for previous version of

Joomla.
