10 Share ONE lesson learned through your success of failure with a particular system.
When we "bought" the system we were promised a lot of potential for individual customization ( both in terms of ways to input information and also the actual content of the templates). Although these are theoretically possible, they are impractical with the current system in that there is too much I.T. time and expense involved (for example, transcription and voice activation is too expensive, so we resort to typing in most of the information: also, although times such as "standard" systems review and physical exam
No Response
Many hours are necessary to properly use templates.
Greenway sucks, Future is cloud based EMR
Use multiple back ups and test them before they are needed.
Allscripts is very easy to use. No EMR is perfect, but this is the best one I have seen.
Definitely takes more time to see patients. Good reference of the medications if data entered correctly.
No Response
Integration of patient demographic data is important for marketing. Do not overlook future costs of your system like adding more computers or remote access to use the system from home.
