SKILL LAB: MANAGER’S SHEETFacilitation of Skill Lab:

1. Explain the most common way they can contract zoonoses is through contact with an infect-ed animal (or its fluids or waste).

2. Instruct employees to brainstorm situations they might come into contact with an infected animal or its fluids (i.e. disposing of dead animals, cleaning pens of sick animals). Have them share. Explain there are three safety precautions (listed on the employee instruction sheet) to prevent the contraction of zoonoses.

3. Have employee explain when it is important to wash their hands to prevent the spread of disease.

4. Instruct employees to identify the PPE they would use around an animal with a potential zoonotic disease by circling the PPE on the instruction sheet.

5. Instruct the employees to determine what they would use to clean a contaminated site by circling the pictures.

6. Rate the employees and provide feedback for each step.Take-away Question:Ask the employees the take-away question and 2-3 days later have them answer the question. If they are new employees, wait a week to have them answer the question.
