After several years of emphasis on cost containment, banks like yours are refocusing priorities around innovation and business growth. To assure market leadership and competitiveness, you need banking and payments solutions that enable you to anticipate and respond instantly to changing customer demands, current and emerging competitive threats, heightened risk requirements and more stringent regulatory obligations. You may also need to rapidly realign after a merger, acquisition or divestiture. Critical to your success will be embedding technology into everything you do to better address the changing needs of your business, partners and customers.

HP understands the challenges of falling margins, the high cost of new investments and system management/maintenance, market saturation, changing technologies, evolving business models and eroding customer loyalty. elevator pitch

This sales guide discusses how the HP Converged Infrastructure strategy and portfolio—together with HP Banking and Payments Solutions—can better position you for new or upsell opportunities with your banking accounts. Reading this guide will help you capitalize on the expected increase in 2011–2013 spending:

•Global financial services industry (FSI) IT spend on hardware, software and services: $351B to $394B U.S.D.

− Note: These numbers represent worldwide addressable market numbers. Your account team must research the total IT spend and total HP spend in your accounts.

•Compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6%•Banking: $159B to $186B (CAGR of 8.3%)

You can benefit from the shift in 2011 priorities, moving from cost cutting to business growth across all regions:•Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity and divestitures.•Compliance spend is increasing.•Preserve revenue and profit, even when facing new

regulations.• Improve risk management. •Focus on customer.

tHe market opportunityTake advantage of HP’s unique position of being able to fully deliver on the promise of infrastructure convergence today—providing the most credible story to tell and the most complete and proven solutions to sell. Help banks shift more resources from operations to innovation to overcome the inefficiencies of IT sprawl, more tightly align IT with the business, and ultimately move toward becoming an Instant-On Enterprise with HP Converged Infrastructure and proven HP Banking and Payments Solutions.

Cisco A complex vision for servers from a networking company. An incomplete vision that requires a complete “do over.” An expensive infrastructure choice.

Why HP wins•No rip and replace with HP – Convergence with Cisco is

essentially starting over from scratch, whereas HP works with existing infrastructures. For example, we link IT and facilities with our advancements in power and cooling such as HP Thermal Logic with power capping that reclaims data center capacity. Cisco is limited to basic Intel CPU power management. Also, HP Insight software provides built-in infrastructure management, but Cisco requires the addition of third-party management software. Application expertise, especially management, is a gaping hole in the Cisco enterprise strategy.

•HP can deliver today – HP is already rolling out Converged Infrastructure services worldwide. We are combining all the strengths we already have—proven technologies with proven delivery capabilities. We can bring a revolutionary new architecture to service providers right now, whether they need it on-site, off-site or over the cloud.

•HP has a more complete vision – HP’s strategy is focused on managing services, not components. Our portfolio benefits all workloads: desktop to NonStop; Windows®, Linux and HP-UX; physical and virtual; scale-out, compute and storage. Cisco’s scope is limited to just Intel x86, 2P and mostly virtualized (using VMware). HP also relies on industry-

standard Ethernet, whereas Cisco relies on a proprietary frame format that requires a complete forklift upgrade to Nexus switches. HP delivers an entire solution and even owns the IP, storage and software that drives our Converged Infrastructure. Cisco, however, is dependent on a loosely-based Cisco coalition of partners (including BMC and EMC) for their IP, which is built on proprietary technology. HP brings in a broad range of software and hardware vendors as well as SI partners that support our open-standards approach.

•Proven innovation – We have been the x86 market share leader for 13 years. HP has shipped 19M ProLiant servers, 1.6M BladeSystem blade servers, more than 1M Virtual Connect ports and more than 1M Insight software licenses.1 Cisco is unproven in the server market and, in fact, much of Cisco’s vision is not yet reality. Their previous initiatives (e.g., VFrame) have gained no market traction.

•No compromise on bandwidth – HP Virtual Connect Flex-10 converges Ethernet 4:1 and delivers 10GbE networking to the server at lower costs than 1Gb.2 Cisco UCS FCoE 10Gb delivers only 1.25Gbps per server at the maximum configuration. HP BladeSystem Matrix has up to 40 times more Fibre Channel bandwidth per server than Cisco’s UCS (4Gb per server versus 100Mb at maximum configuration3). This results in HP offering 3 times the network bandwidth with half the cables in 25% less space.4

•Extensive partner ecosystem. HP has worked to integrate our Converged Infrastructure with the major FSI software developers to enable faster time to meaningful use and more flexible expansion.

1 IDC Server tracker Q109, HP shipped 1.56M blades, 19M ProLiant units; HP analysis2 Comparison for 4 or more 1Gb Ethernets NICs per server with Cisco Catalyst 3120 switches3 UCS configured with 320 servers, 40 blade chassis funneled through a single 40 port Fabric Extender =10 Gbps FCoE for 8 servers per FCoE link and just 32 Gbps Fibre Channel uplink for all 320 servers = 100 Mbps per server.4 48 servers: Cisco: 6 UCS enclosures (6U ea) + 2 6140 Fabric Interconnects = 40U. HP: Three c7000 (10u ea.) = 30 U. Other sources: Cisco, IBM, Dell websites and HP engineering analysis (unless otherwise stated).

Converged Infrastructure provides the IT foundation for incrementally becoming a flexible, scalable Instant-On Enterprise—helping banks transform from transaction-oriented information silos to customer-oriented always-on information and service providers.

Enabling the Instant-On EnterpriseAs business continues to speeds up, it becomes harder to compete—making the Instant-On Enterprise more critical. The Instant-On Enterprise can help customers become more nimble and quick, and operate in a cost effective manner. Once customers get their base infrastructure right—i.e., HP Converged Infrastructure as part of an Instant-On Enterprise—they can do whatever is necessary to address their business problems.

HP enables financial institutions to become Instant-On Enterprises by helping them manage and transform their technology environments and business processes to optimize outcomes that matter, including:

•Transforming the cost base using flexible sourcing and usage-based pricing models, freeing up capital for investment in innovation and growth.

•Rebuilding customer trust and anticipating changing customer needs and preferences for emerging channels such as social networking, mobile devices and the Internet.

•Responding to changing business needs including risk, regulatory and security requirements, and competitive threats from non-traditional financial services companies as well as regional players.

•Implementing sustainable business models that flex as economic conditions and business needs change with end-to-end banking and payments solutions.

Banks face new challenges and heightened pressure to meet the new waves of customer, partner and employee expectations. As most banking institutions have rigid infrastructures comprised of legacy environments, siloed processes, and physical and virtual sprawl, IT is ill-equipped to meet these expectations, boost competitive advantage or support innovation.

The world of banking IT is very complicated, with multiple operating systems, multiple vendors and multiple management applications. Application and information complexity continues to escalate, driven by an explosion of information running on aging infrastructure. In addition, most legacy systems are poorly protected from external assault—providing an open invitation to known and unknown entities to enter and harm.

To more tightly align the pace of the business with IT—while also meeting cost, agility and responsiveness goals—CIOs are turning to infrastructure convergence delivered by HP through the HP Converged Infrastructure strategy, approach and portfolio, aligned with HP Banking and Payments Solutions.

Converged Infrastructure provides a blue print for the data center that accelerates the provisioning of IT services and applications by integrating technologies—servers, storage, networking, security, power, cooling and cloud—into shared pools of interoperable resources, all managed through a common management platform. The net result is a Converged Infrastructure that enables organizations to transform technology into a business advantage by adapting easily and innovating rapidly to deliver the value the business needs. Converged Infrastructure delivers important benefits such as:

•Faster time to value, applications and revenue •Reducing the costs of acquisition and implementation •Responding more quickly and flexibly to business changes •Reducing IT operational risks

These benefits are only some of the reasons why CIOs are rapidly adopting infrastructure convergence, and why most experts agree that convergence is the most widely accepted approach going forward.

The difference with HP Converged Infrastructure is that HP has been leading this charge and delivering on convergence for several years. But we didn’t build our strategy overnight. It has taken years and tight alignment with our technology investments to deliver this type of value. This is important because, as a technology company, correctly converging IT technology requires the execution of a tightly aligned investment strategy across a broad product portfolio.

HP Enterprise Services will assess your customer’s current IT situation and provide a modernization plan customized for their business—one that creates a standardized and highly automated hosting environment to support their intended business outcomes. This approach can reduce resource complexity; increase information security; improve IT usage, availability and responsiveness; and reduce total IT cost of ownership by up to 40%.

HP Enterprise Services and their Infrastructure Technology Outsourcing offerings can be a critical partner during your sales opportunities. Your customer message should be: “Your business demands that your IT infrastructure be efficient, flexible, dependable and compliant, while optimizing your IT return on investment. HP Infrastructure Technology Outsourcing services can help you achieve these outcomes by making your IT environment safe, secure, efficient and adaptable through data center consolidation and automation and other solution offerings.”

HP Enterprise Services teams can manage and implement:

•Infrastructure consolidation – Consolidating servers, storage systems, network devices, processors, applications, databases and sites to create an agile data center, allowing customers to improve the utilization of the IT infrastructure, with the essential benefit of being able to rapidly yet cost-effectively scale IT capacity up and down; to respond to the needs of the business faster and more cost- and resource- (power and cooling) efficiently than with existing legacy systems

•Infrastructure automation – Automating the IT infrastructure to save time and money on management processes

•Infrastructure virtualization – Virtualizing infrastructure assets to help share resources across multiple applications and departments, maximizing use and ROI

enterprise serviCes – CritiCal solution Component

Target customersYou will most likely encounter the following decision-makers in your banking accounts:

•CIO: Goals include cost-effectively delivering accurate, timely, secure IT to the business; one of the best ways to do that for a dynamic business is to provide as many aspects of IT and information as a service as possible; achieving these objectives requires improved cost and operational efficiencies, improved information security, and accuracy and consistency in process and information across the enterprise.

•IT Director: Goals include ensuring IT consistently improves the organization’s operations; standardizing and simplifying the infrastructure, making it easy to manage; delivering necessary IT at or under budget

18

IBMBack to the past with mainframes. Repurposing old technology for a new strategy. Proprietary approach restricts customer flexibility and creates unnecessary add-on costs.

Why HP wins •IBM leads with a proprietary stack – IBM tries to lock in

customers with proprietary offerings such as mainframes, POWER, Lotus, DB2, iDataplex and others. IBM has no IP in networking and limited storage offerings. IBM has no comparable product to HP Virtual Connect—to date, HP has shipped over 2 million Virtual Connect ports. HP utilizes many of the advantages of industry standard-based solutions across the portfolio and passes the volume economics on to our customers. We are #1 with many partners including SAP, Oracle, Microsoft® and VMware.

•Expertise to deliver – HP has broad offerings and expertise for data center transformation. IBM lacks the Converged Infrastructure Maturity Model and tools to accelerate movement to a modern data center.

•Innovative, proven networking – IBM has no IP in networking, whereas HP has 30 years of experience and innovative IP in its HP Networking solutions and support services. IBM relies on third-party vendors and delivers forced integration, leading to lower performance. HP’s acquisition of 3COM provides even deeper networking experience.

•Superior management – As for power management, IBM lacks key features and instrumentation that HP delivers in the Sea of Sensors, Dynamic Power Capping and our energy-aware capacity planning. IBM lacks a single common tool set that allows for virtual and physical server management across server families. In addition, IBM Systems Director lags behind HP Insight Control in areas such as remote console management. IBM lacks many features and products that HP delivers in Insight Dynamics, which is designed to help decrease virtualization complexity.

Oracle/Sun Changing direction and focus

Why HP wins•x86 leader and broadest infrastructure portfolio: HP offers

end-to-end infrastructure, virtualization and administration solutions and services that can make the transition to HP easy. With a platform agnostic approach, HP can support both AMD and Intel® systems. HP is the x86 leader and backs up the HP ProLiant line with advanced management capabilities and years of experience working with Microsoft, VMware and Linux partners.

•Comprehensive storage solutions: HP has a strong HP StorageWorks portfolio that can help customers address consolidation, continuity, control and compliance requirements. HP 3PAR storage is the backbone of our Cloud Strategy, included in the HP BladeSystem Matrix solution.

•Big transition benefits: Sun customers transitioning to HP report savings of up to 80% in hardware costs and 60% in server maintenance, while improving business agility. HP’s leadership in mission-critical virtualization and availability, advanced management and industry-standard technologies enable customers to quickly meet their business objectives.

•A strong partner: HP is a financially stable organization that continues to invest and grow its infrastructure and software solutions. We invest heavily in research and development and drive innovations that are adopted into industry standards.

•Lower TCO: Whether deployed in-house or outsourced, HP’s mission-critical solutions built on a modular infrastructure deliver ROI in less than one year and lower TCO by up to 80%. Many applications are significantly more expensive to run on SPARC, up to 50% more, compared with HP servers.

phone transactions, mobile payments and banking

•Control loyalty and rewards, FX trading, and brokerage

•Realize a fast payback; moving to HP NonStop—as part of your overall HP Converged Infrastructure—offers a typical payback of 12 to 18 months; the money you save can be used for innovation and upgrades.

•Save on networking, power and cooling by modernizing IT on an advanced computing platform.

All payments functions, one modular software suiteTo help you boost competitive advantage, a payment solution must help you meet two objectives: deliver total quality for the end user and ensure total security for the service provider. By combining innovative business process management (BPM) solutions and advanced transaction processing features, TANGO helps you succeed in both areas at once.

Gone are the days when you used a standalone solution for each payment need. Today, TANGO delivers all payment functions in a single modular suite that supports the acquiring side, issuing side, card back office and operations back office.•Payments processing: TANGO includes

robust solutions to acquire transactions (ATM, POS management); authenticate payments; provide routing, switching and authorization support; and ensure efficient, end-to-end processing. As TANGO integrates with legacy computing and networking environments, you can efficiently process payment transactions regardless of where they originate.

•Online banking and utilities: Using TANGO for online banking and utilities, you can consolidate consumer and business customers on a single integrated platform. You can uniquely package products and services for different markets, industry segments and individual clients. Even the smallest business customer

can take advantage of business-like functionality with consumer-like usability—helping you retain clients, even as their needs grow.

•Fraud and risk management: Trust TANGO to help prevent fraud losses in debit and credit cards, as well as merchant and enterprise payment operations. TANGO supports rules-based fraud detection and custom Bayesians scoring models, which can be implemented in real-time to integrate risk management with online transaction authorization.

•Card management: With TANGO, you receive a complete solution for card service contract management, card creation and renewal, and service level management and supervision. TANGO also provides all the required interfaces for customer relationship management, self-care and sign-up.

•Business supervision: In addition to providing key performance indicator monitoring, TANGO also offers support for all file transfer standards to Business Intelligence systems.

•Payments management: You can choose from a variety of TANGO components to automate back office processing including: clearing, settlement and reconciliation, dispute and exception processing, merchant accounting, alerting, monitoring, and reporting.

•SDK: If you’re ready to develop your own applications, the TANGO SDK enables you to develop your own custom C++ objects and interfaces rapidly to augment standard TANGO functionality.

HP NonStop systems for your non-stop businessA critical part of any payments processing solution is the hardware infrastructure. And for your TANGO solution, one hardware

platform offers all the flexibility, scalability and resiliency you need—HP NonStop servers.

As the foundation of your mission-critical Converged Infrastructure, HP NonStop systems provide 24x7x365 application availability and offer the best choice for critical and complex enterprise applications. These systems are used by financial institutions, mobile operators, global manufacturing companies, hospitals and other public sector organizations for their most critical business processes.

The de facto servers for payments solutions for more than 30 years, HP NonStop systems help you accelarate service delivery while also lowering costs. These ultra-robust servers deliver better-than-mainframe class of service out-of-the-box. They are ideal for supporting workloads requiring 100% application availability, real-time high-volume transaction processing and exceptional security. Scaling to handle billions of transactions across hundreds of terabytes of data in real time, HP NonStop systems are fully integrated with Converged Infrastructure.

Key differentiators•Lawson ERP applications provide a quicker time to benefit, as

compared to its competition.•Lawson ERP end users can personalize their Lawson user interface

to match their work process preferences, which increases efficiency and productivity.

•Mission-critical scalability to handle growing needs and changing business environment

•Excellent TCO when migrating to HP ProLiant DL980 servers, as compared to legacy systems

•Preferred platform: Over the years, HP Integrity for HP-UX has been one of the highest-performance platforms for the Lawson S3 ERP applications.

What do I sell?•Lawson S3: industry-focused ERP software solutions; comprehensive

applications, fully integrated on a single platform; flexible solutions that include business process automation; offering the lowest ERP software ownership on the market today (source: www.lawson.com/solutions/software/)

•Lawson M3: ERP solution focused on manufacturing and distribution companies; strong multi-national solution

•HP Integrity server blades for HP-UX: world’s first scale-up blades built on the industry’s #1 blade infrastructure; combines multiple blades to create 2-, 4- and 8-socket systems with HP Blade Link technology; ideal for application-tier and transaction processing, enterprise databases, and mission-critical workloads like Lawson S3 ERP applications

elevator PitChAs your budget continues to shrink, your organization faces the challenge of doing more with less money and lower headcount. HP and Lawson can help you overcome the “more with less” dilemma by deploying Lawson S3 ERP software running on HP Integrity server blades with Intel® Itanium® processors or HP ProLiant servers with Intel Xeon® processors. We can consolidate all your disparate software applications on one powerful standards-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform, providing a single source of the truth to all workers, all the time, company-wide. With your Lawson ERP and non-Lawson applications operating on HP hardware, you can reduce your total cost of ownership (TCO). Lawson ERP applications can help you find the information you need, when you need it, to make fast—and smart—decisions about your business. Backed by industry leaders with extensive domain expertise, the HP and Lawson solution contains a full battery of ERP software. Depending on your needs, you can choose from Lawson Healthcare Integration Software, Customer Relationship Management, Enterprise Asset Management, Enterprise Performance Management, Financial Management, Human Capital Management and many more.

The opportunity—Your primary target is Lawson S3 customers in North America, operating in service-based industries such as healthcare, public sector, governments, education, retail and financial services; these customers need mission-critical solutions running on HP-UX/Integrity. S3 applications support HP-UX/PA-RISC, HP-UX/Integrity, Sun Solaris, IBM System i (iSeries) and IBM AIX, as well as Microsoft® Windows® operating environments. Lawson wants to move its HP-UX/PA-RISC customers to HP-UX/Integrity, and HP is assisting by driving a targeted campaign for these customers. Lawson wants to migrate all S3 customers off Sun Solaris and decommission the platform, because Oracle is one of Lawson’s primary competitors. The Sun Solaris installed base in North America is ~80–100 accounts.

Your secondary target is Lawson M3 customers operating in manufacturing, food and beverage, equipment rental, retail and distribution markets. M3 is IBM System i, IBM AIX and Windows x86-based, with HP ProLiant DL980 servers being a good fit. Some clients run M3 on IBM System i and IBM AIX systems; others use Windows running on a variety of hardware platforms. Lawson wants to move as many M3 customers as possible off Sun Solaris, because M3 applications running on Sun Solaris is on a sunset plan, and Sun Solaris has been decommissioned for M3. The installed base of M3 on Solaris is ~30 accounts.

•HP BladeSystem enclosures: provides all the power, cooling and I/O infrastructure customers need to support modular server, interconnect and storage components today and for several years; c7000 holds up to 16 server and/or storage blades; c3000 is for remote sites, mid-size companies or enterprises with special data center requirements; supporting up to 8 blades in a 6U enclosure

•HP ProLiant DL980 servers for Windows: optimized for the most demanding, data-intensive x86 workloads; self-healing resiliency for a 200% boost in availability; balanced scaling for 3x greater database performance; breakthrough efficiencies for return on investment in less than 60 days

•HP storage solutions: Ideal for enterprise-wide deployment and mission-critical applications, HP Enterprise Class Storage Solutions are the most extensible, resilient and controllable storage solutions available. They offer maximum scalability, industry-leading performance, a fully integrated suite of centralized management tools, and unmatched data protection and disaster tolerant features.
