I am an adventurer. The dictionary defines the word as a person willing to take risks for personal gain or enrichment. Isn’t that what life is all about? It certainly has been for me. How can this be? I’ll tell you how. It’s because, when you own an Emerson knife, it’s not just a sharp piece of hardened steel. It’s not just the #1 Hard Use Knife in the World. It’s me. It’s my honor, my reputation, my experience and, most importantly, my name.

When I started this company, I took a risk. A very big risk. I already had a wife, a family and a good job, but I yearned for an adventure; a journey, it turns out, where I could not possibly know the destination. But I did know one thing for certain, it would either lead to failure or success. I put everything at risk. Some would call that careless, foolhardy. Our story begins with the vision of our founder, Ernest Emerson, who started making custom knives in his garage back in 1979. I grew up in the deep woods of Northern Wisconsin and started pulping with my dad when I was eight years old. So I’m not just a designer; I’m an actual user. It’s in my DNA. But when it comes to a Battle Axe, the Vikings were, hands down, the best of the best. They knew what worked and what didn’t. The Emerson Combat Axe is nothing new. In fact it is over 1000 years old. I upgraded it and redesigned an ergonomic handle style, but the axe itself is a one-to-one copy of an actual Viking battle axe from my collection. With a grip-tite G-10 handle and perfect balance in the hand, it is formed from S-7 Tool Steel and is up to any level of destruction you intend to create. I coated it in a steel-grey Cerakote to help prevent staining so it can be used in the most extreme of environments. It’s not too heavy. It’s not too light. It’s just right. I think a Viking Berserker would agree with that. I think you will too.
