Safety AssessmentsSafety Assessments (SA)(SA)The objective is to determine the areas of the installation
susceptible to improvements
These are performed in paralell with the AA
AECL is also supporting NASA in theSADuring the `07 Outage a Seismic WD
was performed with AECL specialistsfor gathering information for theseismic analysis
The application of a PSR is underdiscussion with the RegualtoryAutority
Design Changes for other CANDU are under review
ENPP PLiM / PLExNA-SARETUBINGRETUBING
A retubing pre-project contract with AECL, already finalized
ENGS has already initiated the Phase II
The result of this contract are:
Laser scanning of the areas affected in theretube operation
Conceptual design of the retube sitefacilities and waste management and wastestorage facilities
Definitions on the components suppliersRetube contract (to be signed with AECL)
Preparation of a level 2 retubing scheduleand trainingDivision of responsabilities between AECL-
NASA definition (Supply of components, Tools, Engineering and Field work)
ENPP PLiM / PLExNA-SASTEAM GENERATOR REPLACEMENTSTEAM GENERATOR REPLACEMENT
Replacement approach involves Steam Drum cutting and manipulating of old and new cartridges through the main equipment airlock.
Steam Generator Life Extension not feasible due to Tube Support Plate FAC degradation. Currently under Fitness for Service for design life achievement ENPP has already initiated the Phase II
Embalse is currently carrying out the procurement process for the new SGscartridges. SGs will be manufactured in Argentina with a License. Steam Drums will remain and are being assessed
ENPP PLiM / PLExNA-SAOTHER MODIFICATIONSOTHER MODIFICATIONS
There are some other modifications / corrective actions focused on PLEX related to the AA, in execution or that have already been performed
Condenser retubingCirculating water main pipe paintingEnhancement of the In-service Inspection Program
New Inverter
The analysis of the applicability of the design changes incorporated in other CANDU utilities are partially performed in the day-by-day operation. (WANO, COG, IAEA, AECL)
Chilled water for reactor building LAC’s
Modernization / Refurbishment of reactor building main crane and Turbine building
ENPP PLiM / PLExNA-SAFUTURE CHALLENGESFUTURE CHALLENGESTo achieve a Long Term Operation (LTO) in a safe and economical condition.
We are aware this will demand the sinergestic use of all the resurces as indicated in the figure.
To capture the experience of many people who are close to retirement and have been working from the commissioning of the plant.
To work closely with IAEA, AECL, ANSALDO, CNEA, equipment manufacturers, other plants, the regulator and any other organization related to the nuclear technology. Take advantage of the outcoming methodologies and of the richness of the experience exchange
To maximize local participation in the engineering and supply of materials and components
Other systems not relevant for the refurbishmentoutage
FeebackLong term adaptation ongoing
To develop a long term PLIM program after refurbishmentincluding
