Game NotesLast Time Out: Elmira is coming off a 5-2 road win against the Bears of SUNY Potsdam. In the win, the Soaring Eagles used three third period goals to clinch their seventh win of the season and their fourth victory in their last five games.

Shorthanded Effort: In Elmira’s win over Potsdam, Mi-chael Collins ’16 scored a shorthanded empty net goal. Collins’ shorthanded goal marks the third consecutive game Elmira has scored on an opposing team’s power-play opportunity. The last time EC scored a shorthanded goal in three straight games dates back to the 2003-04 season.

Series History: The series against Oswego State is one of the longest in EC history as their first meeting dates back to 1973-74. In total, the Lakers and the Soaring Eagles have played 91 times over the last 40 years with Elmira holding a slight, 44-42-5 advantage in the series history. EC won the teams’ only meeting last season, which snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Lakers.

Looking Ahead: Elmira wraps-up their non-conference schedule tomorrow night with a home contest against Salve Regina University at 7:00 p.m. Tomorrow’s game marks the first-ever meeting between EC and Salve Regina.

Game NotesLast Time Out: The Lakers of Oswego State dropped just their second game of the season last time out, falling to Southern New Hampshire University, 4-3, at home on Jan-uary 11th. Southern New Hampshire broke a 1-1 tie with three unanswered goals, one shorthanded and two power-play goals, to take a 4-1 advantage. Oswego scored two goals in the third period, but their comeback attempt would fall short as the Penmen held off the Lakers. Botten Moves Up to Fourth: Alex Botten ’17 took the team lead in scoring against Southern New Hampshire, scoring two goals and assisting on a third to increase his season to-tals to six goals, 16 assists, and 22 points. Botten increased his points per game average to 1.69 and moved into fourth place in the country in scoring average.

The “Other” Lakers: Oswego State has had no issues scor-ing the puck this season, averaging 4.9 goals per game, and that is reflected in the Lakers’ individual scoring totals. Behind Botten is fellow 20-point scorer Shawn Hulshof ’17 who leads Oswego with 10 goals scored and ranks 12th in the nation in points per game at 1.43. Also, both Matt Galati ’17 and Kenny Neil ’17 are nearing 20 points on the season, coming into tonight with 19 and 18, respectively.
