Game NotesLast Time Out: It has been exactly a month since Elmira’s last contest when the Soaring Eagled downed visiting Wes-leyan University, 7-6. Jarryd ten Vaanholt ’16 and Greg Whittle ’16 led the way with four points apiece as each played registered a pair of goals and assists.

Congrats Sauly: Elmira’s 7-6 win over Wesleyan gave Head Coach Aaron Saul ’98 his 100th career win. Of his 100 wins, 81 of them have come as the head coach of the Soar-ing Eagles while the other 19 can be credited to his time at SUNY Potsdam.

Depp’s Game-Winner: In EC’s one-goal win over Wesley-an, Brian Depp ’16 scored the game-winning goal. What made his game-winner more impressive was that it was scored shorthanded. Depp’s game-winner is the first short-handed game-winning goal scored by an Elmira player since January 30, 2010.

Looking Ahead: Elmira will have a short turnaround as the Soaring Eagles will be back in action this Friday, January 9th for a non-conference matchup at SUNY Geneseo. The following night, the Purple and Gold will host Brockport State at the Murray Athletic Center for a 7:00 p.m. game.

Game NotesLast Time Out: The Bengals enter tonight’s contest with a 4-7-2 record. Buffalo State had enjoyed a mini three-game win streak until suffering a 4-1 loss in their most recent con-test to No. 2 nationally ranked Norwich University.

Scouting the Bengals: Ryan Salkeld ’16 will be a player to keep an eye on tonight as the third-year forward leads Buf-falo State with 12 points on a team-leading six goals and six assists. In net, look for rookie Ian Sylves ’18 to be the go-to- guy. Sylves has started in Buffalo State’s last seven games, going 3-4-0 in those appearances.

Road Woes: The Bengals have struggled when playing away from their home ice, going 1-6-0 in true road games. In those seven games, Buffalo State has been outscored, 35-7, and has been shutout in three games.

All-Time vs. Buffalo State: Tonight’s game will be the ninth meeting between Elmira and Buffalo State in the series his-tory. The Soaring Eagles hold a 6-2 edge in the previous eight meetings, however, the Bengals have won the previous two matchups, both of which occurred last season.
