Community Volunteer Program This program allows volunteers to directly participate in the education of our students or operation of our schools. It is a great opportunity to share their talents with our children and staff while increasing the resources available to our students, staff, the District as a whole, or another nonprofit organization. In exchange for work completed, volunteers will receive a specified payment up to a maximum of $500 annually. How does a person join the program or find out more about it? Any volunteer interested in joining the Community Volunteer Program can call the Ellsworth School District Office at (715) 273-3900 to get the necessary information and forms. More information, the program handbook and forms are posted on our school district website at www.ellsworth.k12.wi.us. Or call the Ellsworth School District Office at 715-273-3900 for more information or to get an application and a background check form. EHS is proud to announce its spring play: Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet! A classic tale of star crossed lovers, the themes of this play never grow old. Feuding families, teenage drama, sword fights, and dashing strangers, this play is sure to please any audience. Join us on March 22nd, 23rd, and 24th for a night of classic theater. We hope to see you there! On the Ellsworth High School Stage: March 22, 23 & 24 Tickets normally go on sale about a month before opening night at the Ellsworth High School office or are available at the door the night of each performance.. Brush Strokes Painting Party! Join us in painting a double sided wood pallet painting (Welcome on one side and snowman on the other so you can flip it for the seasons). This pallet painting class is instructor led, step-by-step, to create a fun pallet painting on a wood pallet. Minimum of 8 needed to hold event. Max 25. Preparing Your Estate This seminar will focus on the issues to address when developing an estate plan and the importance of working with an estate planning attorney. Participants will learn the function of a will and its affect on the probate process as well as the different kinds of trusts available and benefits and risks they offer. The Seminar will also focus on different strategies to decrease estate taxes and passing assets to your heirs. An estate planning attorney will be present. Sign Making Class Gain experience using one of our newest pieces of equipment in the woods lab, our CNC Router, to make a cedar sign. The sign will be approximately 30"x18" you will be able to design it and use the router to cut the design into the sign. The first night we will make and design the sign and the second night we will do the finishing. We will contact you prior to class to get your design started. Valentine Treat Box Join us in the kitchen as we make your own personal box of candy to give your favorite grandparent, child, bus driver, friend, sweetheart or whoever you choose for Valentines day! Take home a box of treats at the end of the class. We’ll be making some turtles, truffles, heart shaped fudge, and we will frost and decorate heart shaped sugar cookies to add some color to make your treat box pop! This will be a fun night in the kitchen visiting with others while making your personal treat box. A box will be included for your goodies. WINTER/SPRNG 2018 ROBOTIC CLASSES Offered Through Pierce County 4-H

NXT’s 101 Introduction to Lego Robotics (Grades 4-12) LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT is the second generation of robotics products from the LEGO group. These robots will introduce entry-level robotics with state-of-the art hardware and easy-to-use programming software. This robotics workshop series youth will spend two nights building and programing the LEGO MINDSTORMS Robots. From using light sensors, touch sensors, (new color sensors) ultrasonic sensors to using sound sensors that making robots speak. Two sessions will be offered and youth are welcome to participate in one or both of these nights. NXT’s Robotics the NeXT Generation (Grades 4-12) Must have attended two or more robotic series to qualify for this class Pierce County 4- H will be offering a new three class robotics series for youth who have attended two or more robotics workshop series. With new robot design and new sensors youth will have an opportunity to enhance their skill sets in the areas of robot construction, computer programming and evaluation. Using the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT 2.0 classroom kits as well as the new NXT expansion kits youth will have the chance to use more functioning parts to enhance functionality of design and will explore a different side of computer programing! These classes are offered through Pierce County 4-H but are open to all interested youth. Classes will be scheduled in Winter Spring so call by Jan. 15th to get info!

These Lego Robotics Programs are available through Pierce County 4-H. These classes above are open to anyone. Classes are put on by the Pierce County 4-H. Join 4-H to see what other stem projects 4-H has to offer!

Don't be intimidated by your computer! With just a few easy to-understand lessons from a patient instructor, you can learn how to understand basic computer functions. Learn basic computer terminology. Learn about your desktop and how to save things to it. You'll discover how to create, open, move save, and find your files, how to recognize different file types; how to sort and organize documents into categories that work for you; and other basic computer questions you may have. If we have time in the last session we will cover some internet questions and facebook.

Class is for the very beginner computer user.

RECREATION AND FITNESS

Mixed level stimulating yoga class appropriate for beginner as well as intermediate level

practitioners. Regain your energy through asana with a focus on core strength, balance, and

flexibility. Find calm and improved focus along with a sense of wellbeing by practicing pranayama.

Movement is synchronized to the breath in flow yoga due to the smooth way that the poses run

together and become like a dance. The breath acts as an anchor to the movement as you flow from

one pose to the next in time with an inhale or an exhale. This joyful yoga class is taught by Certified

Specialty Yoga Instructor, Robin Kruse. Robin is also a Group Exercise Instructor and Certified in

Group Cycle.

Tae Kwon Do

An alternative form of exercise and a means to defend yourself. Tae Kwon Do is a traditional Korean-style martial art that stresses using feet and hands as a means of self defense. People of any age or ability are welcome.

HUNTER SAFETY COURSES

Sponsored by the Wisconsin DNR. Course certification is required by anyone born after January

1, 1973, to purchase a hunting license and is transferable to other states. Parent or legal

guardian must (without exception) accompany minors to registration the first night. Course will

consist of 14 hours of lectures, demonstrations, guest speakers, videos and range work.

Students will be required to satisfactorily complete a workbook, field test and written test before

they are certified. Successful graduates will receive a free small game license for the year

following their certification. Students with special needs, please contact instructor two weeks

before the course. Parents and adults are welcome to take this class. AGE REQUIREMENT: 12

years old within 6 months.

Classes will be held in spring 2018. Call instructor Doug for the location and start date for this

springs class.

Cost: $10.00 payable to instructor on first night

The Tractor Safety course for 2012 in Pierce County will be offered this spring for youths 13-15 years of age. The Federal Child Labor Law, established in 1970 states that a person under the age of 16 cannot be employed for driving a tractor on farms not operated by their parents or guardians until they have completed a tractor safety course and become certified. Participants must be 14 years of age to receive this federal certification. Thirteen year olds who enroll will receive certification on their fourteenth birthday. Wisconsin Act 455 prohibits any child under the age of 16 to operate a farm tractor or self-propelled implement of husbandry on the highway unless the child had completed tractor safety certification. Wisconsin Act 178 establishes a minimum age limit of 12 to enroll for this type of certification. The class has hour requirements to follow. All class sessions are set to meet the requirements to lead to ertification. The students must attend all classes and pass the course to receive certification. The course teaches youth about tractors and farm machinery. They learn how to operate the machines safely. They also learn about safety features connected with operation and use of machines. The course includes classroom and practical instruction and the youth are tested on knowledge and operation of a tractor. Students who enroll are required to have a Social Security number before they can be certified. Application forms for Social Security numbers are available at banks and post office Bring a bag lunch.
