Jacob Christian hansen Ellehammer was born on the 14th of June, 1871 in Bakkebølle, Denmark.

A skilled watchmaker and inventor, J.C.h Ellehammer is remembered chiefly for designing and flying one of the very first flying machines. J.C.h Ellehammer’s career is rich with innovative firsts. On the 12th of September, 1906 he made an historic 42 meter tethered flight in his “Semi-Biplane” on the Danish island of Lindholm. In 1912 he developed an ingenious engine which was essential for early airplanes, automobiles, and the very first helicopter. The Ellehammer Luggage brand is a tribute to the innovation of J.C.h. Ellehammer and the Scandinavian traditions of design and quality.

Ellehammer travel goods represents Scandinavian design while honoring the heritage of one of the most respected inventors of the 20th century, mr. Jacob Christian hansen Ellehammer. he was the first European to fly an airplane (in 1906) and pioneered timepieces as well as helicopter and marine technologies. his courage and contribution to aviation and transportation is what the Ellehammer brand is celebrating today.
