Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Happy Fathers’ Day to all of our dads here at St.

Mary’s! Thanks so much for your example in liv-ing out your vocation. May St. Joseph move your hearts to a

greater love of Christ and of your families! This week I will be away on a brief pilgrimage trip to Que-

bec. Fr. Tim Johnson and Fr. Callery will be covering the Mass schedule in my absence. I will return Saturday afternoon in time for next week-

end’s Masses.

I need to update you on some developments regarding our rectory re-modeling project. Our Finance Council approved the final proposal

from Rusty Wysocki Construction and submitted it to the diocese. Bish-op Folda signed the contract, and work is slated to begin soon. The pro-ject is estimated to take 3-4 months, and in the interim, Fr. Callery and I

will be vacating the rectory to stay out of the way of construction. Fr. Callery is planning to stay at Holy Family, and I plan to stay at St.

Michael’s. Our office phone message will direct parishioners to call my cell (701.214.0509) in case of medical or other emergencies. During

this time neither the parish Mass or Confession schedules nor office hours will be changed. We will update you regularly on the project in the bulletin, and once it is completed, we will have an Open House with

tours on a Sunday morning so that you will get a chance to see how the work turned out.

May God bless you!

Bulletin Holiday Schedule deadline:

 Bulletin for July 8th, 2018

Deadline is Friday, June 29th

by 10:00 AM

We are all accountable for the gifts God has given us our time, our talent and our treas-ure. Each of us is accountable not only for our own life but for the lives of others as well. One day God will ask each of us what did we do with the gifts we were given. How will you respond?

2017-2018 HFSM 5th Grade Graduating Class Favorite Bible Verse and Memories by Ava Gornowicz

Jesus looked at them and said, “For human beings it is impossible,

but not for God. All things are possible for God.” Mark 10:27

I realize that most things are not possible for humans alone, but

what God is telling us in this verse is that all you need to do is follow God

and his teachings and He will guide us to His kingdom.

If I do what God says and open my heart to Him, I will be following

His commandments and go to where all of us want to go someday. Of

course it will be hard sometimes, but I feel that that will be the cost if I

want to spend eternal life with God in Heaven.

I am Ava Gornowicz, and I am a Disciple of Christ. Who I am?

There are so many fond memories that I have about Holy Family-

St. Mary’s School. I remember on my first open house here that I was so

nervous because I knew no one there, and I had no siblings to show me

around. But as soon as I met all the teachers and my classmates, I knew

this was the school that I wanted to stay at, and this was the class I wanted

to grow with.

I would love to be remembered for being very positive and always

brightening people's day. If I can make someone's day better, it will make

me feel great!

Jesus said, “Come and See”

(John 1:39)

Congratulations to Thom-

as Keeling and Alicia

Quamme who were mar-

ried at St. Mary’s on June

16th, 2018. Please remember them

and their families in your prayers.

Family of the Month – Keith and Marie Holly: Keith and Marie Holly were selected as the Knights of Colum-bus Family of the Month for June. They are active members of St. Mary’s and can be found volunteering for many of the spe-cial programs that St. Mary’s offers throughout the year. Keith is a retired technology education teacher and after 40 years in the school system can still be found substituting in the

class room. He has been a professional photographer for 36 years and shares his gift by capturing many of the special events throughout the parish. He joined the Knights in the fall of 2015 and advanced to 4th degree in February of 2015. He supported the organization by being Deputy Grand Knight, Program Director, Grand Knight, and Community Chairman for the State Council. He is Member of St. Mary’s Pastoral Council, Finance Council, and a St. Mary’s Daycare volunteer. Marie works at ND Vocational Rehab taking pride and receiving great satisfac-tion in helping clients. Together, they are covering the education expenses of a young girl from a poor family in the Philippines (Answer the Cry of the Poor), which will hopefully continue through college. Keith has an adult daughter, Shawna that lives and works in western North Dakota. As a family, they are ac-tive in anti-abortion causes and enjoy volunteering with groups such as the Spe-cial Olympics. The Holly’s set a wonderful example of family life for other in the Parish to observe and follow. We congratulate Keith and Marie on this honor and are thankful to have them as a part of our Parish family. ****************************************************

Lyle Kvasager – Knight of the Month for June: Lyle is an Army veteran, serving 3 years active duty and 3 years in the reserves. His variety of jobs has given him many skills to share and a dedication to helping others. Lyle listened to his heart, heard the Lord, and worked with Fr. Dan weekly for al-most 8 months to become a Catholic on July 9th, 2015. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 2016 and has advanced to 3rd degree Knight. He is one of our dedicated breakfast work-

ers, especially running the backroom and dishwasher. Lyle was one of the Brother Knights that volunteered and helped to care for Tony Rabe, helping Kay with the huge task of daily care before Tony passed in 2017. He has continued to help Kay when needed and presented her with a couple of wooden US Flags that he makes as a hobby. Lyle has two daughters, Ashley and Kaley, with a grandson Kevin (Junior), who is also a baptized Catholic. Lyle takes a very active role in the life of his grandson bringing him to Mass and Sunday school each week. He claims one of his most enjoyable activities is saying the Rosary and he leads the Rosary each first Sun-day and at special events, such as “Marriage between a Man and a Woman,” held earlier this year in Grand Forks. He participates in Adoration @ St. Anne’s Guest Home each Tuesday. The residence at St. Anne’s love the Apple Butter that Lyle makes to share with them. We congratulate Lyle on his accomplishments, dedication, generosity, and thank him for his good works that make a difference in people’s lives.
