The Presidio is a wonderful place to work – and it’s going to get even better in spring 2022. We’re building a new 14-acre oasis in the center of the Presidio – Presidio Tunnel Tops. Built atop freeway tunnels that replaced a highway that once divided the park, Presidio Tunnel Tops will feature scenic overlooks with 360-degree views of the Golden Gate bridge, Marin headlands, Alcatraz, and downtown San Francisco, trails, picnic areas, gardens, a campfire circle and two new food-service locations.
Presidio Tunnel Tops is designed by the team behind New York’s High Line. The site will provide what city dwellers have declared to be their greatest need – a place to escape from it all, recharge, and reconnect with nature and each other.
Just east of Presidio Tunnel Tops and immediately adjacent to Eleven Eighty, tenants can enjoy an up-close experience of nature along an elevated pedestrian bridge and trail at the recently completed Quartermaster Reach Marsh restoration. Native salt marsh and riparian plants grown at Presidio Nursery create an extraordinary habitat for fish, crabs, and oysters.
This new section of the Tennessee Hollow Trail allows pedestrians to walk from Crissy Field’s East Beach, through Quartermaster Reach, under the Presidio Parkway, and along the 1.2 mile route tracing the watershed’s springs to their origin near Inspiration Point.

The Presidio Trust, a federal agency, manages the Presidio of San Francisco, a former U.S. Army post that is now a national park and National Historic Landmark District within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. In partnership with the National Park Service and non-profit Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, the Trust brings alive the park’s historic, natural, and recreational assets for the inspiration, education, health, and enjoyment of all people at no cost to taxpayers. The Presidio Trust welcomes everyone to the national park experience, champions sustainability practices that protect the environment, and works to provide outstanding service to the public.
Located at the Golden Gate, the 1,500-acre Presidio offers spectacular vistas, wild natural areas, trails and outdoor recreation, picnic areas, museums and historic sites, art installations, a golf course, event venues, camping, and lodging. The Presidio’s former Army buildings have been reinvented to welcome 3,000 residents and 200 organizations. Seven million people visit the Presidio each year. Lease revenue supports the Presidio’s ongoing care.
