Types of Line
Shape
Shape is a flat enclosed form. Can be created by other shapes, line,
color, or texture.
Space
Area occupied within a composition
In a 2-D composition: Foreground Middle ground Background
Color
Produced by light of various wavelengths
three properties: (1) hue, the color name (2) intensity, the purity and
strength of a color (3) value
Color Wheel: Primary: red, blue, yellow Secondary: green, orange, and
violet Tertiary: Red-orange, red-violet,
blue-green, blue-violet, yellow-orange, yellow-green
Value
Relative lightness to darkness.
Texture
The surface quality of a shape.
Actual texture: When you can
actually feel the texture.
Visual Texture: An illusion. Created by making
marks on a surface to imply texture.
