The DVD is based on the Lancashire UnitedAgainst Hate DVD, produced in 2010 which wasofficially launched at Preston North Ends Deep-dale football ground by His Honour Judge Rus-sell. The value of this DVD was recognised na-tionally by the Ministry of Justice as a resource

    for tackling hate crime.

    This government department commissioned the

partnership to produce a DVD for a national au-dience, using the Lancashire version as a tem-plate. It has been distributed to over 300 orgs

and has been viewed by over 11,000 people.

Celebrating Health Visitors role at the heart of the Community.

Health visitors are central to community health and every single child under five will have regular visits,

the North of Englands most senior nurse has pledged.

Introducing North West Health Visiting Week (5-9 March), Jane

Cummings, Chief Nurse for NHS North of England, said health visi-

tors played a fundamental role in improving the health of children,

and would be involved in developing community health strategies in

the future. The NHS nationwide is working to ensure health visi-

tors are in place at the heart of every community, promoting good

health and preventing illness with practical help and advice for all

new parents and pre-school children. Recruitment of more than

4,000 health visitors is under way across England to support this

    revolution in the profession.

Jane said: Health Visiting Week is a really important week for the North West. Its a fantastic oppor-

tunity for us to focus our attention, showcase some of the great practice thats going on across the

North West, and demonstrate to those people who may be interested in becoming a health visitorwhat support there is available, and what the role will look like in the future. We know from evi-

dence across the world that early intervention and early support plays a significant part in ensuring

children have better health outcomes, better educational attainment, and are more likely to work as

    they reach adulthood.

Thats why we are calling to action all NHS staff and those who work with families in whatever capac-

ity, asking them to support health visitors in the North West as they re-energise their service. Adrian

Hackney, who is leading the North West programme

to expand and empower the health visiting service,

said: The government and NHS leaders recognise that

many of the problems we have in society and in com-

munity health are problems that can be minimised by

intervening early and preventing them arising, rather

than leaving it too late and dealing with consequences.

We know that the amount of investment in health visiting has diminished nationwide over a number

of years. If we are going to make a difference in childrens lives and therefore in the future of the na-tion, we have got to get on with it now. Theres no time like the present! more details on

Pendle Community Radio is now offering

local businesses the opportunity to adver-

tise or sponsor programmes on the radio.

Pendle Radio is very popular amongst the

local community & is also available on the

internet, as such it offers a great opportunity for businesses to ad-

vertise their products to this growing consumer demographic.

The expense of advertising on other types of media can be a re-

strictive factor especially for smaller businesses and this is precisely

where Pendle Radio can help. Ad spots can be bought by the sec-

ond and as such offer great value for money.

The science of advertisement suggests repetition and simplicity are

the key to a good radio advert, the cost of ads on Pendle Radio

means even smaller businesses can now purchase repetitive ads.

Pendle Radio can also author and produce your advertisements for

    you.

If you would like to advertise on Pendle Radio please contact us via

    email; [email protected].
