ANARCHY EXPERT

DISCUSSES FORD

BUY IJM I PQ5T OFFICE

"Well, that is precisely the senti-

ment you call anarchy in Mr. Ford."Much testimony having been offered

to show that Mr. Ford held jobs openfor employees who were called intothe armed forces of the nation andthat he also provided aid for theirdependents where the latter were In

need, The Tribune, which originallycharged that Mr. Ford would not do

any of these things, is now attemptingto prove that the assistance which hegave was late and was a result of iheTribune's attack.

Checks Produced.

Counsel for Mr. Ford has producedstacks of cancelled checks showingthat regular monthly allowances weresent out to soldiers' dependents who

applied for aid, beginning as soon asthe case could be investigated andthe records made, and continuing un-

til the husband returned to work.

Fraternal Orders

Strong For SavingFraternal orders should take an ac-

tive interest in the 1919 Savings Cam-

paign in the opinion of Pat M. Neff ofWaco, Grand Chancellor of the TexasGrand Lodge, Knights of Pythias. An-

other enthusiast over the SavingsCampaign is J. W. Chancellor ofBowie, Grand Master of the TexasGrand Ixdge, Independent Order ofOdd Fellows.

"In the Saivings Campaign," Mr. Neffsaid recently, "the Government hasplaced tho stamp of its aprpoval onthe fraternal idea. War Savings

are not lodges, strictly speak-ing, but they are next thing to itMany of the most successful SavingsSocieties are in the lodges and theKnights of Pythias are doing theirshare."

"Texas Odd Fellows had a numberof strong War Snvings Societies la- -t

rear, Mr. Chancellor said, ' and mostof them made excellent records.Wherever possible, it would be a tineidea for the menbers of the lodge toform themselves into a Savings' Society again this year, if they have notalready dono po." i

Numerous lodges of various ouioitover the Rlevenlh Federal District notonly have Saivinge Societies but aresecuring sinking funds by investing inWar Savings Stamps as a lodge Themembers of these lodges are also buy-ing W. S. S. individually.

from Emerson, Whittler, Lowell,Holmes and Abboct, showing thatthey held the same view.

Henry Ford an anarchist, an waspromptly sued for $1,000,000 as a re-

anarchy in the trial now going on inMt. Clemens, Mich, in an effort toestablish definitions of anarchy andanarchists which would convince thejury that there was no libel In thenewspaper attack on the manufac-turer.

Prof. Jesse B. Reeves, head of thedepartment of Political Economy ofthe University of Michigan, was en-

gaged by The Tribune to support itscontentions by his testimony.

Under direct examination by coun.sel for the Tribune, Professor Reevesdeclared that the views credited toMr. Ford by journalists who had in-

terviewed him were identical with theviews held by such well known

as Emma Goldman, Tucker,Proudhon and Tolstof.

The Tribune introduced as evidenceof Henry Ford's p.narchy the followingquotation- - attributed to him in ar.tides which havt; appeared in news-

papers and magazines:

Fundamentals of Anarchy."To my mind Humanity may

Farmers Find EasyMethod of Saving

Farmers who are making a habitof getting a few Thrift Stamps everytime they market anything from theirfarms are finding that they are ableto save regularly and that they donot miss the small amounts invested. The average farmer in this sectionOf th country depends largely on his"money" crop, which he harvestsonce a year. Almost every one ofthem, however, grows something elsewhich he markets at odd times.

An occasional load of hay may betaken into town and sold. The thriftyfarmer also plants peas, beans, okra, lettuce, beets or some of the othervegetables watch thrive in the South

est and for which there is a readymarket Butter and eggs form staplearticles to bo marketed betweenseasons. By buying just a few ThriftStamps each time the farm-wago-

makes a haul to town, the farmer orhis wife is providing a fund whichhpy will be able to turn to good ac-
