El Centro de Investigaciones de Diseño Industrial CIDI ha recibido por primera vez la invitación del Salón Internacional del Mueble en Milán, para participar del 17 al 22 de abril de este año en el Salón Satélite, representando al Diseño mexicano y mostrando la oferta que tenemos para el mundo en este renglón industrial.TRANSCRIPT

UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL AUTÓNOMA DE MÉXICO
EL CIDI (Centro de Investigaciones de Diseño Industrial) forma parte de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la UNAM, la Universidad mas grande de Latinoamérica. Sin embargo, somos una comunidad muy pequeña en términos cuantitativos, apenas el 0.13 % del total de la Universidad. Esta es una de las razones por las que somos una comunidad viva, activa y cambiante; preocupada por nuestro entorno, nuestro ambiente y nuestra realidad. Agradecemos la oportunidad de presentarles una pequeña muestra de los trabajos realizados en ella.
42 años de historia nos permiten afirmar que tenemos características particulares y únicas dentro de la Universidad. Poseemos tradiciones propias y una personalidad específica que, podemos afirmarlo, nos hace diferentes de todas las escuelas de diseño de nuestro país.
Nos preocupan los aspectos técnicos, pero no descuidamos los aspectos de sustentabilidad ni los económicos y privilegiamos el factor social en todo nuestro proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. La acumulación de experiencias de diferente tipo está presente en cada una de las actividades que desarrollamos, gracias a nuestro tamaño o resultado del mismo, podemos interactuar entre nosotros prácticamente en cualquier momento del día, de modo que la comunicación es muy fluida entre alumnos, profesores y personal administrativo. Nuestro tamaño no es obstáculo para mantener contacto con otras Facultades o Escuelas. Desarrollamos proyectos de muy diversa clase y complejidad, tanto para empresas privadas como para comunidades de escasos recursos y marginadas socialmente.
Tenemos un seguimiento personalizado de nuestros egresados y ofrecemos permanentemente actividades y ofertas laborales a todos los miembros de la comunidad CIDI, conformada por nuestros estudiantes, profesores , egresados y amigos de manera que exista comunicación y retroalimentación constante para la actualización y superación continua del Centro de Investigaciones de Diseño Industrial de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
En resumen, investigamos, enseñamos, participamos y promovemos todo tipo de actividades relacionadas con nuestra pasión:El diseño industrial.

¿QUIÉNES SOMOS?
CIDI (Centro de Investigaciones de Diseño Industrial) is part of the Facultad de Arquitectura at UNAM, Latinamerica’s largest University. Nevertheless, we’re a really small community in quantitative terms, barely 0.13 % of the University’s whole. This is one of the reasons why we are such a lively, active and changing community; concerned with our surroundings, our environment and our reality. We appreciate the opportunity to present a small part of the work developed in it.
42 years of history allow us to state that we have particular and unique characteristics within the University. We have our own traditions and a specific personality which, we can assure, makes us different from all design schools in our country.
We are concerned by the technical aspects, but we don’t overlook sustainability or economy and we favour the social factor in the entirety of our teaching-learning process. The accumulation of different types of experiences is present in each and every of the activities we carry out. Due to our size, we are able to interact between us practically in any given moment of the day, resulting in a fluent communication among students, professors and administratives. Our size is not an obstacle to keep in touch with other Faculties or Schools. We fulfill projects of a wide range of variety and complexity, for private enterprises as well as for scarce-resources and marginalized communities.
We keep a one-to-one follow-up of our graduates and we permanently offer activities and job offers to all CIDI community members, constituted by our students, professors, graduates and friends, in such way that there exists constant communication and feedback for the updating and continous improvement of the Centro de Investigaciones de Diseño Industrial at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
In few words, we do research, we teach, we participate and promote all kinds of activities related with our passion: Industrial design.

It´s the most solid institution of industrial design teaching in Mexico and Latin America, where I have forged the most firm knowledge in the discipline, throughout 25 years of teaching that have given me the opportunity to value the importance of belonging to it, and its contribution to my own professional development.
WHICH IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT LEARNING EXPERIENCE THE CIDI GAVE YOU?
To appreciate that we have the ability to guide our young students academically, humanly and professionally... I have learnt that CIDI has given me the invaluable opportunity to “create memories for life”.
WHAT WOULD YOU LEAVE TO THE FUTURE CIDI GENERATIONS? A clear understanding that making things according to your beliefs and working on them to the limit, it is possible to make things have a long permanence… I would like them to learn to live the daily activity of Industrial Design with passionof the Industrial Design.

Es la institución más sólida de enseñanza de diseño industrial en México y América Latina, donde he forjado los más firmes conocimientos en esta disciplina, a través de 25 años de docencia que me han dado la oportunidad de valorar la importancia que tiene pertenecer a ella y contribuir a mi propia formación profesional.

Valorar que tenemos la capacidad de orientar a los jóvenes tanto en lo académico, como en lo humano y lo profesional... he aprendido que el CIDI me ha dado la oportunidad invaluable de “crear recuerdos para toda la vida”

Una señal clara de que haciendo las cosas como las crees en verdad y trabajando en ellas hasta el límite, se puede lograr que las cosas permanezcan por mucho tiempo.... me gustaría que aprendan a vivir con pasión la tarea diaria del diseño industrial.

The reason of my existence, second to my family. It´s my second home, my pride and joy, and the opportunity for constant development.

I learned to accomplish every goal that I set myself in terms of work, and cultivated the need of repaying it.
WHAT WOULD YOU LEAVE TO THE FUTURE CIDI GENERATIONS? Everything that I have learned and lived professionally. The knowledge generated from my experience, so they can make use of it, and hopefully it will aid them to become productive professionals for Mexico.

El sentido de mi existencia después de mi familia, es mi segundo hogar, uno de mis orgullos y una oportunidad de desarrollo permanente.

Aprendí a lograr todo lo que laboralmente me he propuesto hacer y el sembrar en mí la necesidad de retribuirlo.

For me, CIDI is a place that represents and reifies the ideas and emotions of all of us who are there.

The responsibility of knowing that everything I do, will affect everything around us. “It´s as if we could design everything…”.
WHAT WOULD YOU LEAVE TO THE FUTURE CIDI GENERATIONS? I leave them everything, I don´t want to take anything. I think it’s these future generations who in this moment leave US in the hands of THEIR PAST. They give us the chance of showing them a “know how”. In their moment, they will do the best they can.

Para mí, el CIDI es un lugar que representa y hace realidad las ideas y emociones de todos los que somos ahí.
¿CUÁL ES EL APRENDIZAJE MÁS SIGNIFICATIVO QUE TE HA DADO EL CIDI?
La responsabilidad de saber que todo lo que hago repercute de alguna manera en todo lo que nos rodea. “Es como si pudiéramos diseñarlo todo…”.

Yo les dejo todo, no quiero llevarme nada. Creo que son esas generaciones futuras las que en este momento nos dejan a nosotros en las manos su pasado. Nos dan chance de mostrarles una manera de “hacer las cosas”. Ellos en su momento las harán como mejor puedan.

Understanding the relations between learning, teaching and good will to engage a long term academic project.
WHAT WOULD YOU LEAVE TO THE FUTURE CIDI GENERATIONS? A mature study center, that works efficiently and dynamically, capable of constantly adapting to the changes demanded by the national and international environment.

El CIDI es un gran símbolo. Es la obra de un grupo de personas que ha puesto al diseño como anhelo, junto con sus deseos de cambio, crecimiento personal y beneficio colectivo.

Entender las relaciones entre aprendizaje, docencia y buena voluntad para emprender un proyecto académico de largo plazo.

Un centro de estudios maduro, que opere con dinamismo y eficiencia, capaz de adaptarse constantemente a los cambios que el entorno nacional e internacional le demanden.

Considering that I started studying at the end of 1977 and working in 1985; as student, teacher and member of the Academic Coordination, I have lived more than 31 years of experiences and memories at CIDI.
WHICH IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT LEARNING EXPERIENCE THE CIDI GAVE YOU?
Even if it seems worn out, I have learnt more as a teacher than as a student, especially from those 2 or 3 remarkable students that appear in each generation.
WHAT WOULD YOU LEAVE TO THE FUTURE CIDI GENERATIONS? I leave them this Center that has helped educate more than 100 teachers and 1989 students and graduates that have passed through it. This will continue to bond us with the future CIDI generations. Moreover, I leave it here at UNAM and at the center of “Ciudad Universitaria”, the best University and in the best place in México.

Considerando que entré a estudiar a finales de 1977 y a trabajar en 1985; como alumna, profesora y parte de la Coordinación, he vivido más de 31 años de vivencias, y recuerdos en el CIDI.
¿CUÁL ES EL APRENDIZAJE MÁS SIGNIFICATIVO QUE TE HA DADO EL CIDI?
Aunque suene trillado, he aprendido más como profesora que como alumna y especialmente de esos 2 o 3 alumnos de oro que aparecen en cada generación.
¿QUÉ TE GUSTARÍA DEJARLE A LAS FUTURAS GENERACIONES DEL CIDI?
Les dejo este Centro que ha ayudado a formar a más de 100 profesores y a 1989 alumnos y egresados que han pasado por él. Esto es lo que nos seguirá uniendo con los futuros integrantes del CIDI. Además, se los dejo puesto en la UNAM y en el ombligo de Ciudad Universitaria, en la mejor universidad y en el mejor sitio de México.

It means a permanent challenge to be a better teacher, to do something I have loved all my life better. It means being part of a community I love.

That in spite of our differences in more than 40 years, we have been able to build a successful education model that is well known in our country and abroad. And that we keep trying to improve it.
WHAT WOULD YOU LEAVE TO THE FUTURE CIDI GENERATIONS? The capability of being honest, self-sufficient and successful in their professional occupation and to be able to help others in their surroundings.

Significa un permanente reto por ser un mejor profesor, por hacer mejor algo que me ha gustado toda la vida. Significa ser parte de una comunidad a la que quiero.
¿CUÁL ES EL APRENDIZAJE MÁS SIGNIFICATIVO QUE TE HA DADO EL CIDI?
Que a pesar de las diferencias que hemos tenido a lo largo de 40 y tantos años, hemos sido capaces de construir un modelo exitoso, reconocido dentro y fuera del país. Y que seguimos intentando mejorarlo.

El CIDI significa la oportunidad para imaginar un mundo diferente; el medio para alcanzar metas como individuo. Ha alimentado mi pasión por crear e innovar y me ha proporcionado la oportunidad de crecer, evolucionar y reflexionar.
¿CUÁL ES EL APRENDIZAJE MÁS SIGNIFICATIVO QUE TE HA DADO EL CIDI?
Siempre hay posibilidades dentro de la diversidad. Hay que estar dispuesto a explorar nuevas posibilidades y a buscar el balance entre la necesidad humana y la economía.

Lograr trasmitir la pasión por el diseño. Que busquen el bienestar del individuo en todos los ámbitos. Que siempre se arriesguen por propuestas audaces y frescas que mejoren la relación entre el individuo y los objetos. Siempre pensar: ¿Qué pasa si…?
