Abstract

Exploration title EL29700 has been granted to AU EXPLORATION PTY LTD on 27 Feb. 2013. During this second year, a detailed review of the aero-geophysical and remot sensing images have been conducted, this has revealed that the title area has no potential for explor greisen mineralisation of tin, tantalum and niobium with undergourd granit(s). The mineralisations associated with the pegmatites in the area would only be in small scale and less economic significance. The title area is located within the well-know Bynoe Pegmatite Field with more than one hundred tin, tantalum and niobium mineralisation occurances or old mines. Within the Bynoe pegmatite field, pegmatites typically occur in clusters or groups that presumably are associated with discrete shallow-level granite apophyses. Six pegmatite groups are recognised in the Bynoe field. From north to south, these are referred to as Kings Table, Observation Hill, Leviathan, River Annie, Walkers Creek and Labelle. The title area contains the River Annie pegmatite group and its adjacent area. A Sn-Ta-Nb mineral occurrance, 7Up, located in the center area of the EL29700 has been mentioned in the previous reports. Significant lithium and tantalum values (maximum 0.94% Li2O and 995 ppm Ta2O) have been identified from surface rock chip sampling in 2009. A speculative alluvial tin and tantalite resource along the River Annie and Gorge Creek had also explored by Talmina Trading Pty Ltd and Greenex in 1980s. Most of these exploration activities are along the active channel, but the results are not encouraging and the gave up the mineral titles.

There is no information discussing a possibility of planer gresien underneath with mineralisation. Aero-geophysical images have been used to understand substructures in the area. A series of aeromagnetic anomalies occur in the area in NE-SW direction. After the fail of the field reconnaissance in 2013 due to the thunderstorm and rain flooded the channel, a review of aero-geophysical and remot sensing images had been carried out. Aim of this review is to seek a potential of exploration a greisen mineralisation of Sn, Ta and Nb associated with buried granite underneath before we have further field investigation. Unfortunately, the results are negative. Plus the economic slowdown and difficulty in rising fund, Au Exploration P/L would like to surrander all area of EL29700. Therefore, this report is the final exploration report of EL29700.

Introdction Exploration Licence EL29700 was granted to AU EXPLORATION PTY LTD by NT State DEPARTMENT OF RESOURCES on 27 Feb. 2013 for a period of six years. This report summarises work carried out on EL29700 during the period 27 Feb. 2014 to 26 Feb. 2015 . Tenure details EL29700, total of 5 blocks (Table 1), is locateed about 45km southwest of Darwin, accessing by Cox Peninsula Road and local 4WD tracks (Fig. 1).

Geological Setting

Geologically the tin field, including the area of EL29700, is located in the Palaeoproterozoic Pine Creek Orogen. The Archaean basement is overlaid by the McAuthur, Birrindudu, Daly, Arnhem and Money Shoal Basins. Outcrop rocks include metamorphosed Greywacke, shale, siltstone, sandstone, dolostone, tuff, granite, felsic volcanic rocks, dolerite, basalt, micaceous schist, metapelite, calc-silicate rock, quartzite and intrusive rocks. Tin, tantalum and niobium mineralisations are assocated with the Pine Creek Pegmatite province which contains rare-element pegmatites in three areas, referred to here in as Bynoe pegmatite field and te Tipperary and Wingate Mountains pegmatite districts (Fig. 2).

Fig. 2 Pine Creek Sn-Ta pegmatite province (Frater, 2005).

The Bynoe pegmatite field and Wingate Mountains pegmatite district occur in a 180 km-long belt (Litchfield pegmatite belt) that stretches along the eastern

contact aureole of the Two Sisters, Allia Creek and Soldiers Creek granites, from Darwin Harbour in the north to the Wingate Mountains in the south. These granites belong to the ‘Allia Creek Suite’, a late- to post-tectonic, felsic, fractionated S-type granite system, emplaced along the western margin of the PCO, and dated at 1845 Ma (Budd et al 2002). The Bynoe pegmatite field is approximately 70km in length and 15km in width. It is the largest and economically most imporatant tin field in the NT. Mineralisation

Mineralisation in the Pine Creek Orogen includes gold, uranium, base metals, PGE, iron ore, manganese, magnesite and phosphate. The major tin-tantalum pegmatite fields of the Northern Territory occur on the western and southwestern margins of the PCO and the northern margin of the Arunta Region. Their location on craton margins is typical of Proterozoic terranes, where parent granites are commonly late to post-tectonic bodies, confined to pre-existing granite contacts or deep regional faults (Černý 1989). Tin- and tantalum-bearing pegmatites in the Bynoe area are located in a north-trending, 10 km-wide belt extending from Kings Table to the Finniss River in the Bynoe 1:100k sheet. These occurrences were discovered at the turn of the last century and total recorded production is 533 t of cassiterite concentrate and 63 t of tantalite concentrate. In Bynoe area tin field, deposits accounts for 98% of past tin production and 97% of identified resources and 99% of past Ta production and 99% of identified resources in NT. There are over 150 mineralised pegmatite bodies concentrated in three fields in the Bynoe area (Fig. 3). The northern group, centred on Observation Hill, contains the majority of mineralised pegmatites and was investigated by Greenbushes Tin Ltd. The second group is situated along the upper reaches of Leviathan Creek and contains about 30 closely spaced pegmatites. The third group is between Annie River and Gorge Creek and contains about 35 widely spaced pegmatites. The area of EL29700 covers some of the alluvial tin and tantalum along River Annie and its related pegmatites. A speculative alluvial resource of 50 million cubic metres at a cutoff grade of 0.15 kg/m3 of "tantalite concentrate" was estimated to be present in the River Annie area (River Annie and Gorge Creek drainage) by Talmina Trading Pty Ltd in 1984 (Wallen-Teluk 1989). In 1985, Greenex recognised the potential of the River Annie alluvials (Hatcher 1985f). Shallow pits, trench and auger drill were dug to release the alluvial profile which had been described as consisting of 3 horizons: an upper horizon of fine-grained organic clay; a middle layer of fine clay and yellow sand; and a basal horizon consisting of pebble lenses within a yellow sandy unit. The ‘wash’ or gravel horizon was sampled. The trenches were abandoned in the central active channel. As the active channelies which probably contain the highest values were filled up by water, it made sampling of the central section impossible (Mollemans 1988b). it is assumed that any resource estimate would be underestimated. Greenex estimated a resource of 0.058 Mt grading 0.297 kg/t SnO2 and 0.028 kg/t Ta2O5 for the Annie alluvials (Greenex 1988).

Obviously the previous mining and explorations focused on tin, tantalun and niobium. In 2009, Altura took some geochemical rock chip samples at the 7Up prospect located a pegmatite outcropping over a strike length of 300 metres and up to 10 metres wide where exposed at the southern end. The samples recorded significant lithium and tantalum values a maximum 0.94% Li2O and 995 ppm Ta2O. The sampling also indicated that the lithium values extended in to the host rock comprising a mica schist of the Burrell Creek

Formation (Altura Mining Quarterly Report June 2010). It could be a window opened to reevaluate all pegmatites in the tin field with other REE etc..

Geophysical Images As all previous works are carried out near the surface, approximately less than 10 meters in depth associated with pegmatites in the tin field. Fluid inclusion study appears that the mineralisation temperature is about 300oC which indicates that the mineralisation forms in the last low temperature stage of hydrothermal fluid activities or near the surface associated with intrusion of granite. Under the pegmatites, there may be massive mineralisation associated with greisen at contact zone between the granite and country rocks, like the Limu Sn-Nb-Ta deposit in China (Fig. 6). There is a possibility to find massive mineralisation with greisen at contact zone between granite and the country rocks underneath the pegmatites at depth in this tin field. Therefore, geophysical images have been reviewed to identify subsurface structures. Fig. 7 shows the gravity and magnetic images of the tin field and EL29700 area. There is no any anomalies in the area of EL29700. The images show an almost flat area of EL29700. Same as the geophysical images, landsat images also show nothing interesting without anomalies (Fig. 8). As no anomalies have been identified from the geophysical and landsat images, a further field investigation had been canceled in late 2014. Also Au Exploration P/L would like to surrender all area of EL29700.

Conclusion After reviewing the geophysical and remot sensing images, there is nothing interesting in the area of EL29700 for exploring greisen mineralisation associated with buried granite underneath. The mineralisation associated with the pegmatites in the area has less economic significance. Therefore, Au Exploration P/L would like end the exploration in the area and surrande all area of EL29700 back. References Frater KM, 2005.
