Ekin has completed her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Virginia in the US. Ekin’s educational, professional and personal background has guided her to pursue a design approach that aims for civic empowerment and engagement in creating spaces. She is particularly curious about designing for the ecological balance in urban landscapes. Her past projects examined different field conditions as a strategy for urban connectivity, analyzing social, political and ecological stratification that exists in metropolitan areas around the globe. At arki_lab, Ekin works on urban analyses, focusing on drawing connections between cultural backgrounds and built environments as well as preparing design strategies and concept development.

SELECTED PROEJECTS

2019 A CO-CREATIVE CITYLAB - Local community design | Asnæs, Odsherred, DKOver a period of 1,5 year an empty building in the city of Asnæs was transformed into a City Lab. Through the extensive involvement proces arki_lab collected local knowledge, ideas, dreams, and needs which were translated into urban space designs in the city centre.

2018- PILOT PROJECT FOR NEW TRANSPORT SOLUTIONS | Melbourne, AUIn collaboration with Transport for Victora, arki_lab delivered a strategy for transport-related pilot projects in the City of Melbourne. UNIVERSITY OF WOLLONGONG - The Health And Well-Being Precinct | Wollongong, AUIn collaboration with SJB Architects arki_lab developed the proposal which focuses on the idea of “world class development”.SMART LIVERPOOL, SMART PEDESTRIANS - A more walkable city | Liverpool, AUThe project, winner of the 2018 local government initiative award, focuses on improving the livability and walkability. ARKICITY - connecting citizens with decisionmakers | Copenhagen, DKCoCityApp is a smartphone application that allows everyone to engage in the transformation of their city. It enables decision makers to get a real-time image of their city through the eyes of its citizens.

2017 WASTE INNOVATION | Copenhagen, DKIn close collaboration with residents from Valby Have arki_lab developed a prototype of a multi-functional waste separation solution. HORSENS HIGH STREET | Horsens, DKIn collaboration with a multidisciplinary team we won a competition to redesign Horsens High Street.
