slowly drying a dead body to prevent it from decaying

Process took 2 or 3 months to complete

› Lungs, liver, stomach, and intestines are placed in canopic jars Sons of Horus Protected in afterlife

The body was filled with natural salt and stored for 42 days

During this time the body dried out
