Expanding the tactical and lethal reach of the Marine Expeditionary Forces through a total system solution: advance mortar weaponry, ammunition and vehicles.

LSV - LIGHT STRIKE VEHICLE

The Light Strike Vehicle (LSV) is an air-certified ground mobility platform for the V-22

Osprey Tiltrotor aircraft. A member of the family of Internally Transportable Vehicles

(ITV), the LSV offers unmatched agility, mobility and payload capacity. Fitted with either

the M2 .50 cal or Mk 19 machine-gun at the rear gunners ring, the LSV is designed to

carry adequate fuel, water, ammunition, and food for 3-day mission needs, while safely

transporting a crew of four.

EFSSThe Expeditionary Fire Support System (EFSS) was developed in response

to the USMC’s need for a fire support system that is lighter, more mobile

and vertically transportable for missions requiring tactical versatility, speed

and close-in fire support.

The EFSS expands the maneuver commander’s choices of fire-support

capability against an array of targets including light-armored, motorized,

and dismounted personnel; command and control systems; and indirect

fire systems. The system’s Prime Mover vehicle along with the 120mm

towed rifled mortar is designed to be internally transportable in the

MV-22 Osprey, CH-53, C-130 and the C-5 aircraft.

The Expeditionary Fire Support System is comprised of two Prime Mover

vehicles, 120mm towed rifle mortar weapon, a family of insensitive

munitions (IM) compliant ammunition and the ammunition trailer.

120MM TOWED RIFLE MORTAR WEAPON

The Expeditionary Fire Support System utilizes a 120mm

towed rifled mortar that can fire smoothbore or rifled

ammunition. The rifled mortar rotates the round as it exits

the barrel providing greater stability and range over current

smoothbore ammunition.

- Weighs 1798 lbs. and is the Marines’ largest internally

vertically transportable indirect fire support capability.

- In service in 24 countries, including three NATO countries.

AMMUNITION TRAILER

The ammunition trailer was designed specifically for the

Expeditionary Fire Support System to fit internally within

the MV-22 Osprey while being hitched to the Prime Mover.

- Maximum payload of 1800 lbs.

- Maximum capacity: 30 120mm rifled mortar rounds.

- IM-compliant ammo packaging.

- Equipped with electric brakes.

- Air-Ride, controlled height, adjustable suspension with a maximum ground clearance of 14 inches.

- Four Wheel Steering (4WS) for maximum maneuverability and easy loading and unloading off the MV-22.

- Roll Over Protection System (ROPS) that folds and stows when onboard the MV-22.

- Four cylinder turbo-charged 2.8 liter diesel engine capable of running on JP-8 fuel; and a four-speed automatic transmission.

PRIME MOVER FEATURES

- Vehicle weight of 3900 pounds.

- The Central Tire Inflation System allows the operator to adjust tire pressure while the vehicle is in motion across changing terrain.

- NAVAIR certified for MV-22 Osprey.

PRIME MOVER

The Prime Mover plays an important role in the Expeditionary Fire Support System. The factory-built frame-up vehicle

is designed to meet the 60” maximum width requirement for transportability in the MV-22. The strategic size and weight

ensures a tactical mobility that is equal to that of the supported force. The vehicle is capable of operational ranges out to

300 miles enhancing the system’s cross-country mobility for indirect fire support operations.

120MM AMMUNITION SUITE

The EFSS 120mm ammunition suite consists of four

type-classified munitions: High Explosive (HE), Smoke,

Illumination and Practice rounds. The ammunition suite

provides greater lethality, accuracy and range over currently

fielded ammunition.

- IM compliant, with an accurate and effective range of 8.2 km.

- Standard electronically-fused U.S. artillery fuses are fitted to

the projectiles for point detonation or airburst capabilities.

- Precision Extended Range Munitions (PERM), GPS guided

out to 17 km (In development).
