Since its beginning with the film Raja Harish Chandra (1913), the cinema hasremained the most powerful media for mass communication in India.

Hindi cinema initially explored issues of caste and culture in films suchasAchhut Kanya (1936) and Sujata (1959).

Cinema has the ability to combine entertainment with communication of

ideas. It has the potential appeal for its audience. It certainly leaves other media far behind in making such an appeal. As in

literature, cinema has produced much which touches the innermost layers ofthe man.

It mirrors the episodes in such a manner that leaves an impact on the coming

generations. Cinema presents an image of the society in which it is born andthe hopes, aspirations, frustration and contradictions present in any givensocial order.

Indian Culture, which is one of the oldest & richest cultures, is nowdays posing a serious threat as western culture is establishing itsstrong base in India and slowly and gradually wiping the Indianculture. It had already made its presence in Metros & now slowlyheading towards other parts of India.

Man has instincts, different thoughts flow which leave an effect onthe minds. The person laughs with the films and tears with them.Scenes of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, a film by Raj KumarSantoshi andManoj Goswami makes people national-minded and sentimentallyinvolved in the film show.

Bad films leave a very vitiating effect on the minds of youth. They give rise to different kinds of crimes.

The vulgar obscene pictures should not be allowed to beexhibited. They cause morality in society.

Westernization has greatly effected our traditions, customs, our family and our respect and love for others. The conceptof joint families is fastly decreasing every one wants toremain aloof from others.

Westernization has given rise to single families. Marriagesare fastly breaking

The directors are making movies only for profit and money. We watch, what they want to show.

Voilence & abuse are increasing day by day . Films like DelhiBelly,

Social matters are not shows in these movies.

Religious, mythical, family movies are made by very fewdirectors.

Educational, Childrens movies are also very few made.

The main motive is make money.

    Change in lifestyle and fashion.

  • 7/30/2019 Effect of Cinema

    22/24

    Movies like Murder, Hisss has

no point of positive impacton minds of youth.

Flims like Dhoom where inthey have shown that speedis everything, is causing anserious impression on youth.

  • 7/30/2019 Effect of Cinema

    23/24

There shouldn't be any sort of censoring outside the mindsof people. Censoring should happen within the minds ofyouth. Watch everything, see good and bad and decide

ourselves what we need. I one watches a movie and turns amaoist inspired by that he can't blamed. He has listened tohis heart. That is a lot better than leading our "normal"lives. So my suggestion is to watch movies of all languages

and all genres, widen the horizon of our mind, think freely.Others can fetter only our actions not thoughts.
