    will be given a refund.

  • DIRECTOR’s NOTEs

LOOT A black farce masterpiece, Loot follows the fortunes of two young

thieves, Hal and Dennis. Dennis is a hearse driver for an undertaker.

They have robbed the bank next door to the funeral parlour and have

returned to Hal’s home to hide out with the loot. Hal’s mother has

just died and the pair put the money in her coffin, hiding the body

elsewhere in the house. With the arrival of Inspector Truscott, the

    thickening plot turns topsy-turvey.

When Joe Orton wrote this play in the 1960’s, it was considered

shocking. Orton himself wrote “It is vulgar and offensive in the extreme

to middle class susceptibilities”, but enough people enjoyed being

shocked to make it a very successful production!

I first saw ‘Loot’ in 2006 and found it very funny and thought

provoking. I wanted to bring the play to the Edward Alderton

Theatre, but it is a popular play and has taken six years to secure

    the performing rights.

I am sure you will enjoy this play as much as the

cast and production team have enjoyed

    creating this masterpiece of farce.

    Viv Stapleton, Director.

sTRIppERs 19-26 May 2012Drama by peter TersonDirected by John Hart

Inspired by a television documentary, Peter Terson’s play looks at the world of the North East England strippers, centring on Wendy and Bernard, a young couple whose lives are up-ended when Wendy turns, reluctantly, to stripping to support the family after Bernard is made redundant. Although Bernard quite happily watches the ‘exotic dancers’ over a couple of pints at the club, when it comes to his wife it’s a different matter...

A slice of saturday Night14-21 July 2012 Musicalby the Heather brothersDirected by Wendy Marsh

A musical pastiche that takes you spinning back to the Swinging Sixties to celebrate the eternal embarrassment of teenage life. Girls in miniskirts and boys in Chelsea boots singing songs that sound like all those ‘60s hits you’ve heard on retrospective shows — sharp, cuff-link humour.
