Dave Tippett, 59, became the Oilers 16th head coach all-time on May 28, 2019. Tippett enters his third season as the Oilers head coach. In his first season as Oilers head coach, Tippett led the team to an 83-point season and a 37-25-9 record, finishing second in the Pacific Divison. Tippettwas instrumental in helping the Oilers qualify for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, for the first time since 2016-17 and has led the team to the postseasonfor three straight years. Prior to joining the Oilers, Tippett was a head coach in the NHL for 15 seasons (2002-2017), with Dallas and Phoenix/Arizona, posting a career record of553-413-28-102 in 1,114 games, for a 0.563 winning percentage.
