Last fortnight, we heard a fascinating talk by the former director of IIT, Madras Prof. Ananth on
the "House of Education". This metaphor was about a house under construction with scaffolding on
various sides, some brick and mortar work in progress and so on, referring to our education ecosystem, its
strengths and challenges, as various dimensions are being constructed, redesigned, rebuilt and so on, in
our quest for excellence. Now, the education landscape has another new "fashion wave" sweeping people
off their feet. This is the new buzzword of ‘World Class Universities’. There are many well-known
rankings in vogue these days, including the Times Higher Education ranking. An analysis of their
indicators shows a very high importance to the aspect of Research. It is conceded that Research is, in some
terms, like the icing on the cake, which requires a robust education base. This base presupposes a quest to
unravel and discover. This, in turn, needs as a pre-requisite an open mind, driven by aspiration to unravel
the 'why' and 'how'. Slowly, by a process of refinement, this quest would lead to the ultimate answers.
As we gradually settle into the Choice Based Credit System in our institutions, one of the very
promising possibilities is of offering an elective in Reading and Research to our students, both
undergraduate and post-graduate. I say this because at various international conferences and fora, one
often sees papers being jointly authored by young students and their faculty members. Wouldn't this be a
great idea, if carried out properly in a gradual, planned manner?
Another simple yet significant step has been the series of workshops held across the state for
creating a culture of research, which have generated as many as 2200 major and minor research proposals,
which have been readied by our own faculty members and teachers, with mentoring by peer researchers.
On a similar note, we have instituted as many as eight Research journals and are actively looking
for good quality papers to be published in these. For those of you who are first timers and are interested in
publishing, we also have the institution of e-journals. The theme of this knowledge letter is ' On
Research...' and we would urge each one of you to explore research with genuine reverence and interest.
These efforts will surely pave the path for knowledge creation, nurturing a culture of Research and
innovation in our Classes, Colleges, Universities, State, Country and World. While our country has had a
glorious past, all the sincere, baby steps of our Team Higher Education could once again pave the way for
an Indian Research Renaissance, carrying our quest for knowledge with truth and harmony to great, great
heights.

Shree Somnath Sanskrit University has been established by Government of
Gujarat in the year 2005, with the motto 'Purnta gauravay' which explicitly
focuses on the attainment of completeness in excellence. Sanskrit which is
considered as the soul of India is an essential component to make a person
complete in all respects. It carries the knowledge and wisdom evolved on the
soil of our motherland for over 5000 years of known history. In this sense
Sanskrit education is the oldest educational pattern in India which is catching
up and spreading more vigorously in India and abroad.
The University is U.G.C. recognized under section 2(f) and also having membership of A.I.U. Started with
one of the mission statements 'quality is a journey not the destination' the University had made significant
progress in the last 6 years. In its efforts to translate the targets specified in the Act into a reality
considerable progress has been registered under the head of each target.
Started with establishment of Post Graduate Department in July, 2006 today the University offers Sastry
(B.A), Aacharya(M.A), Tatvacharya(M.Phil) and Vidhyavaridhi (Ph.D) through the University and 28
affiliated colleges spread across Gujarat. Apart from PG Department 2 more research institutes have been
recognized. As a result 98 students are registered under Ph.D program and 22 Ph.D degrees have been
awarded. 118 students have been completed the M.Phil program.
Realizing the target 'optimum use of technology', the university administration, accounts
and examination systems have been put on electronic mode. Provisions are made for
education through satellite through BISAG.
With the target 'keeping pace with modern trends' most advanced system of education,
namely, Choice Based Credit System has been implemented in this university from the
very beginning. Efforts are continuously being made to design modular and
interdisciplinary courses and prepare study material thereof. The university follows semes-
ter system and public viva-voce for award of Ph.D. degrees.
With a view to empower Sanskrit students to develop skills in modern subjects, computer education has
been made compulsory at under graduate level. In addition, University has introduced several professional
Degrees and Diplomas like B.Ed., Diploma in Vastushastra, Jyotish, Karmakand, Yoga and Temple
Management to increase employment opportunities of the students. University strives hard to modernize
Sanskrit education and integrate Sanskrit based knowledge and wisdom with the modern subjects.
Prioritizing one of the targets namely 'easy access for girls and weaker sections', the University has, as on
today, on its rolls 100girls and 149 students are from weaker sections of S.C. and S.T. and O.B.C.
In the short span of 7 years the University has successfully conducted various noteworthy programs. On
the occasion of Golden Jubilee Year Celebration of Gujarat State, 2010 University has launched Sanskrit
Sambhasan Yojana and initiated more than one lack students into Sanskrit speaking and held Swarnim
Gujarat Sanskrit Mahakumbh at Veraval, wherein more than 10,000 students have participated.
An International Sanskrit Conference along with National Sanskrit Drama Festival has been held in the
month of March, 2012. University organizes annual convocation every year in the presence of Honorable Chancellor of the
University and Governor of Gujarat and other dignitaries like Gyanpeeth and Padma Vibhushan award
winner Dr. Satyavrat Shastryji.
Our students also keep bringing laurels to the University winning prizes and ranks in All India Sanskrit
Competitions, Inter Gujarat Sanskrit Competitions, sports and cultural activities. 18 Sanskrit books are
also published by the University.
Special Grant is also provided by Government of Gujarat to make the University The world class Univer-
sity. With the financial support extended by the Government of Gujarat an academic block, a hostel and
other infrastructural developments with estimated cost around 13 crores is soon going to be undertaken.

Charotar University of Science and Technology
(CHARUSAT) came into existence in July 2009 under Gujarat
Private Universities Act, 2009. CHARUSAT is the offspring of
Education Campus – Changa (ECC) which was set up by Shri
Charotar Moti Sattavis Patidar Kelavani Mandal in the year 2000.
ECC started with Charotar Institute of Technology Changa (CITC),
initially offering undergraduate degree programme in four branches of
engineering. During the nine-year span between 2000 and 2009, it had
evolved into a multi-institution education campus conducting
professional degree programmes in engineering and technology, pharmaceutical sciences, computer
engineering and sciences, computer applications, applied sciences, medical sciences and business admini-
stration and management. CHARUSAT is a value-driven university, based on the belief of Sardar Val-
labhbhai Patel, “Education without character is of no use”.
The University is spread over 105 acres of land and is equipped
with modern facilities, including round-the-clock Wi-Fi connectivity of 40
MBPS bandwidth, 120 laboratories and a state-of-the-art central library
enriched with more than 47,000 books, hundreds of journals & magazines
and 3,200 e-journals, several databases and educational application
software packages. The University has an R&D Centre, Human
Development Centre and soon will start Career Guidance Centre.
Presently, the University conducts 35 programmes from undergraduate to Ph D level in the field of
Technology, Pharmacy, IT, Management, Applied Sciences, Nursing and Physiotherapy. The University
will be launching the MTM and MPM programmes, approved by AICTE recently, in the next academic
year.
The programmes offered at CHARUSAT are intertwined with a range
of extracurricular activities and opportunities for research, independent study
and community service. Through its unique content in its professional
programmes, CHARUSAT educates and prepares students to realize their
potential to become responsible citizens in a diverse and increasingly inter-
dependent world. For example, a team of 17 engineering students from
CHARUSAT participated in a National level event SUPRA SAEINDIA
2012, held at the Buddh International Circuit, Noida in Septembeeer 2012.
CHARUSAT has set to itself the lofty vision of emerging as a World Class University by year 2015,
as enshrined in its document, “Vision 2015 - A Roadmap”. Towards this end, CHARUSAT is pursuing
the following four major goals:
Achievement of academic excellence on par with other World Class University;
Community outreach programme for development in areas of healthcare, education and rural
economy;
Mobilisation of adequate resources to meet the above two goals; and
Achievement of operational excellence and financial sustainability.
As a part of the community outreach programmes, the trust is setting up a
450-bed modern multi-specialty hospital, the first phase of which is planned to
become operational by July 2013. A MoU of Rs. 150 cr. was signed with
Government of Gujarat during Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit in
2011 for this purpose.

ICT-enabled Learning through Smart Classrooms
The best thing about the institute is that it imparts learner centered learning.
The infrastructure has been built in such a way that it is possible for the teachers to
enhance their teaching technique through the use of PPTs, direct Use of Web
resources, Use of audio-visual aids. Each classroom is equipped with a LCD
projector, LCD TV and a Projector screen. Moreover there are amplifiers and though
the strength of the class is between 120 -140, the teachers are able to communicate
to the students effectively and carry out the teaching process in an innovative and
interesting way.
Learning is fun in Amroli college. Be it the com-
merce subject or be it a language like English –all sub-
jects are taught with such a skill that real life case stud-
ies are brought inside the walls of the classroom. A
teacher is able to move the learners around the world ,
take them to the beautiful places of the world and let
them discover for themselves. The authors, their way of
life, the birth places , the social, political and economi-
cal contexts are presented in a beautiful manner with the
help of ICT. Environment related issues are discussed
with detailed statistics and economics becomes more of
a study of different economies. Even the assignments
which are given to the students require them to use ICT
in their own unique way. Lectures telecasted through
BISAG are also shown in the classroom.
The Principal’s cabin and the lobby of the college also have plasma
TV sets. The principal can see each class and the students moving
in the lobby also can have an idea as to what is happening.
The youth of today cannot escape from the clutches of ICT
and the college provides them a training ground to put their presen-
tation skills into practice and it is preparing them to face the highly
competitive global environment. The college is preparing the stu-
dents for a better future. The dull and drab atmosphere of the class-
room has been done away with. Variety and mix of teachers lecture
coupled with videos and audios make the class really interesting.
Movies based on novels, dramas based on texts, real life situa-
tions, share market reports, templates of resume & CVs, when
are presented in the class- it leads to a better understanding and it
is found that it enhances learning. Smart use of mobile applica-
tions because of the Wi-fi facility has enabled the teacher to help
the learners to try & find the meaning through online dictionaries.

I find daily proof of the increasing & continuing wrong being done to the millions by our false
de-Indianizing education.
We seem to have come to think that no one can hope to be like a Bose unless he knows English. I
cannot conceive a grosser superstition than this. No Japanese feels so helpless as we seem to do.
The medium of instruction should be alerted at once, and at any cost, the provincial languages being
given their rightful place. I would prefer temporary chaos in higher education to the criminal waste that is
daily accumulating. Education through a foreign Language entails a certain degree of strain, and our boys
have to pay dearly for it. To a large extent, they lose the capacity of shouldering any other burden
afterwards. for they become a useless lot who are weak of body, without any zest for work and imitators of
the West. They have little interest in original research or deep thinking, and the qualities of courage,
perseverance. Bravery and fearlessness are lacking. That is why we are unable to make new plans or carry
our projects to meet our problems. In case we make them to fail to implement them. A few who do show
promise usually die young.

English Language Entrepreneur (ELE) is a new initiative by SCOPE to encourage competent and
proficient candidates in English language to take up entrepreneurship in the growing field of English
Language Teaching (ELT). They would be authorized as trainers affiliated with SCOPE and it will
empower them to directly enroll students for training and earning a decent livelihood.
Currently SCOPE has tie-up with world renowned Cambridge ESOL University for assessment and
certification. The assessment and certification of these candidates, trained by ELE would be managed by
SCOPE. This way, SCOPE will provide the brand name, identity and support to the ELEs.
The qualification norms has been kept quite high for an ELE. The English Language Entrepreneur
has to be at least C1 or C2 certified as per Cambridge ESOL norms.
SCOPE will provide a start up kit to ELEs, which will contain promotional material, Authorization
certificate, candidate registration forms, CD set of 30 English lectures produced by SCOPE. The kit would
be provided along with registration and on payment of token registration fees of Rs. 1600/- to SCOPE.

Keeping in view increasing demand for strengthening institutions of higher education through
research, KCG decided to roll out a series of workshops which were aimed at building a culture of quality
through research. Strengthening institutions of higher education essentially requires building a culture of
research.
The series focused on teachers of around 1032 colleges from 26 districts of Gujarat for building
capabilities of preparing proposal of a research project.
23 workshops were organized in a de-centralized mode at district level in which around 2541 teachers
were provided hand-holding and around 2266 proposals were prepared by the participants.
During three day workshops, participants were divided into groups of similar subjects. Personal counseling,
hand-holding and mentoring methods were used as learning strategy. Resource Persons provided mentoring
to a group of participants.
Several processes and structures were standardized and templates and formats were extensively used.
The intervention was based on some guiding principles. They are Principle of Advance Planning, Principle
of Convenience of Organizers, Principles of Standardization, Principle of Human Dignity and Respect,
Principle of Transparency and Commitment and Principle of Cost Effectiveness.
Using Community Based Approach, emphasis was given on partnership, involvement and ownership
of community at all level of intervention. District Coordinators and Principals of organizing colleges were
provided motivation for increased partnership and ownership in implementing this intervention.
Expected Outcomes included (i) motivation for writing research project and (ii) support for
perspectivizing research in his/her work profile. It is also expected that each participant acquires skill and
knowledge in preparing research proposal. Workshops were expected to build a network of scholars in
respective subject and disciplines.
KCG intends to (i) focus those teachers who are engaged in active research projects, (ii) create a
repository of scholars and institutions and (iii) create a database of research work and their analysis and
make it available through publications and through website.
For effective implementation of the initiative, it was decided to adhere to the guiding principles.
Based on the guiding principles, it was decided to communicate to the District Coordinators, Resource
Persons and Participants about their expected roles. A check list was also prepared for effective
management of the workshop. For the purpose of effective documentation, it was decided to build a
comprehensive database by developing and using several templates and formats.

International Assessment and Certification
SCOPE has roped in Cambridge ESOL, UK as the assessment and
certification partner to enhance the employability and wider acceptance.
The Cambridge ESOL examinations are recognized by various employers,
universities & colleges, professional bodies, ministries & government
organizations throughout the world including visa applications at UK.
The B level course offered by SCOPE (called BULATS Online) is now
recognised for Tiers 1, 2 and 4 of the Points Based Immigration by the
UK Border Agency for visa applications and for Partner Visas ( please
refer website www.bulats.org/Bulats/certificated-bulats-online.html).
Structure of Programme and Fee The English Language Training programme is being developed on the Common European Frame-
work of Reference which is mapped with ALTE levels. Six level of courses are offered:
Basic : A1, A2 Advanced : B1, B2 Proficient : C1, C2
For college students, under Open Assessment Scheme, fee for levels A (A1 and A2) and B (B1 and
B2) courses is kept at INR 200/- and INR 300/- respectively. Out of it, SCOPE charges only Rs. 125/- for A
level and Rs. 225/- per candidate for B level course. Rest of the amount remains with college for administra-
tion and incidental expenses. Under fat assessment scheme where training is provided to the students, fee is
Rs. 600/- for A level and Rs. 900/- for B level course.

We may recall that the great struggle for freedom had, in its early moments of resurgence, placed
national education as an essential aspect of its core program for achieving India’s independence. Under the
inspiring leadership of the greatest educationists, radical experiments were carried out. National education
was visualized in its widest implications so as to foster both nationalism and internationalism, and the
lessons learnt from the great systems of education that had developed in India since its ancient period as also
from progressive experiments which have been carried out in modern times in different parts of the world
were also sought to be incorporated. Results of all these experiments need to be pooled together so that a
new program of educational innovation can be initiated and developed. There is an urgent need to eliminate
from the present system which, since the establishment of the colonial system in our country, has proved to
be injurious to the growth of the spirit of India and the spirit of universality and universal fraternity.
Today, several innovations are being advocated, particularly with regard to child-centred education,
value-oriented education, vocational education, and various aspects of curriculum and examination system.
Care and education of the girl-child has rightly come to be emphasized; there is much talk of need of
reduction of load of books; the integral development of personality has also come to stressed; study of
environment in order to inculcate the spirit of environmental care has also been acknowledged; importance
of scientific, original and critical thinking has also been advocated and education that can relate science and
values has also received special emphasis; the objective of promoting international peace is also sought to
be promoted; education for the promotion of human rights as also fundamental duties is also being
underlined; the role of art in education and the role of physical education are being increasingly supported.

Science College Principals’ Meet:
One day Science College Principals’ Meet on Science Education and Research was jointly organized by
Gujarat Council of Science City, Gujarat Council of Science and Technology and KCG on 16th October,
2012 at Science City, Ahmedabad. Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi had delivered
an introductory speech and outlined various KCG initiatives for the journey towards the excellence and
emphasized the need of qualitative research work at college and university level for the world class
institutions. Prof. M. S. Ananth, former Director, IIT, Madras had delivered a wonderful talk on “Science
Education and Research". The talk was followed by a question answer session. A talk on Soil Health
Card was also delivered from the department of agriculture.

Ahmedabad Management Association on 16th October, 2012.
Vice Chancellors’ Meet:
One day Vice Chancellors’ Meet was jointly organized by KCG and PDPU, Gandhinagar on 18th
October, 2012. Opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Hasmukh Adhiya, Principal Secretary, Education
Department and Shri D. J. Pandian, Principal Secretary, Energy & Petrochemical Department and
explicated the importance of International Conference for Academic Institutes (ICAI) and need to
establish a network between leading national and international educational institutes. Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi,
Commissioner of Higher Education and CEO, KCG had discussed the characteristics of world class
universities and also elaborately overviewed different world university ranking systems. A detailed
outline of ICAI was presented. A detailed planning and discussion was carried out on the ICAI – 2013,
which will be organized on 9th & 10th of January, 2013. Vice Chancellors have also exchanged their
views and also provided valuable suggestions and inputs for the grand success of upcoming event. British
Council, one of the partner organizations of ICAI, had also explained their strategies and views. At last,
various KCG initiatives were discussed.

Awards for outstanding NSS Programme Coordinator. Programme Officer and Volunteers in order to rec-
ognise their contribution to the community service. These Awards are given in three categories i.e best
university, best Programme Officer & best college and best student volunteer.
Ministry has announced the prestigious National Indira Gandhi National Service Scheme (IGNSS)
Awards for the year 2011-12.
At National level these awards are given to one university, 10 best Programme Officers and colleges and
30 best volunteers. This year Gujarat NSS is fortunate enough to get 3 NSS Awards, one in the category of
Programme Officer and college and 2 in the volunteers category. These wards will be given away by Ma-
hamahim Rashtrapatiji, on the 19th November,2012 in Dabar Hall in Rashtrapati Bhavan. This will be a
very proud moment for the recipients.

Dr. Kamlesh Bhogayata Sheth, Programme Officer, NSS of Sheth J.P. Govt. Ayurved
College, Bhavnagar affiliated to Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar, Gujarat. He

Dr. Kamlesh has taken over as a Programme Officer of the college NSS unit in
July,2009 and in a span of 4 years he has established the importance of NSS programme
in the campus as well as adopted village ‘Naari’, near Bhavnagar. Under his active di-
rection 482 units of blood was donated, 430 people made fully literate, 2200 saplings

proved and number of patients reduced from 180 to 60 per week.
-Organizing career counseling lectures series in the campus as well as off campus.
-A traditional method of vaccination called Suvarnaprashan is undertaken by Dr. Kamlesh, through which
the malnourished children are vaccinated.
-He provides tips for mental weak children and undertakes yoga in different schools of Bhavnagar.

-He was the team leader of Gujarat contingent in the National Youth Festival organized by the Ministry of
Youth Affairs & Sports at Udaipur and National Integration Camp organized at Tumkur (Karnataka State)
and the major contribution was shown in the form of two plays which were produce during State Level
NSS-KCG Workshop at PDPU, Gandhinagar.
Personally he has donated blood for 8 times and since last one year he provides free medical services
through mobile van, he has received number of awards in theatre, acting and direction. He has instituted a
library of NSS with 1050 books and magazines. To popularize the traditional system of medicines he has
organized demonstrations of herbal plants in various schools. He is spreading awareness
on ‘Beti Bachhaho’, anti-plastic campaign, adolescent issues and imparting certain en-
trepreneurship development skills like soap making, shampoo making and analgesic
balm making to the people in the adopted villages.
We are very happy that such a dynamic ,energetic and able Programme Office is
selected as best Programme Officer from Gujarat.

Creativity can mean different things to different people. For some it means being imaginative or in-
ventive, taking risks or challenging convention. For others it is about original thinking or producing some-
thing that nobody has come up with before. Some believe that the term 'creativity' only applies only to
those who possess artistic talents.
Traditionally, creativity has been associated with the achievements of extraordinary people such as Mozart,
Einstein and Leonardo Da Vinci, and a good deal of the early research into creativity has focused on the
work of highly creative people or those considered to be geniuses.
Focusing on extraordinary individuals, however, simply perpetuates the myth that creativity is about spe-
cial people doing special things. Research shows that there is no specific personality type associated with
creativity. It is possible to be creative in any activity that engages our intelligence because intelligence it-
self is essentially creative. Creative processes are rooted in the imagination and our lives are shaped by the
ideas we use to give them meaning. We all have creative capacities but in many instances we do not know
what they are or how to draw on them.
In recent years researchers and educational writers have extended the general meaning of creativity so that
it incorporates ideas about inventiveness and imagination.
This reflects a growing acceptance that creativity it is not simply about coming up with big ideas, but com-
ing up with practical solutions to everyday problems and then applying them to real life situa-
tions. Everything around us - our homes, cities, medical services, transport and communication systems -
are conceived and developed by practical people who know how to implement creative ideas. Creativity
can be readily associated with a wide range of everyday tasks and activities, and the importance of creativ-
ity at a personal level is often greatly underestimated.

Around The World
Ms. Nidhi is one of the active volunteers of Sheth J.P Government Ayurved College, she has helped
for immunization of 1550 kids against pulse polio and planted 342 saplings in the last 2 years in college
campus as well as adopted village. An outstanding student, she was awarded by Hon’ble Chief Minister of
Gujarat for securing 1st position in the taluka level. She is regularly attending the patients in the OPD run by
NSS unit at Naari. She is helpful to popularize eye donation, body donation among community. She is a
Peer leader on issues of women, STD & AIDS Awareness and various other issues of youth. She has partici-
pated number of National level programmes and received several awards in NSS. She also received
several honours in the Inter University level Youth Festival of Ayurved University. She is actively involved
in malaria awareness, rainwater harvesting activities in and around the campus.
Mr. Nitin Kumar Khushalbhai Parmar, NSS volunteer of Faculty of Performing
Arts, M.S. University, Vadodara .He will get Rs. 15,000/- a certificate and a silver medal
from National Mint.
A young and dynamic volunteer of NSS, Shri Nitin was the GS in the faculty of
performing Arts had actively undertaken community development issues through NSS
apart from the camps and other activities, he played an important role to motivate the
young volunteers towards Nation Building and social issues .Being a student of music, he
has contributed a lot in the field of NSS. He had established a classical fusion band known
as ‘Pitch Riders’ which has performed in the State as well as National level. He has represented Gujarat in
the Republic Day Parade,2012. For his excellence in music as well as NSS he was selected as a part of
student exchange programme to UK by M.S. University and as member of Indian delegation of people to
Republic of China in the year 2011. He was also instrumental in re-recording of NSS song at M.S Univer-
sity, Baroda. They will be leaving for Delhi on the 16th November,2012.

Higher Education in Gujarat
The very foundation of a civil society is based on the quality of higher
education we provide to our students. Today, Higher education in India is in a
transition where new alignments to market realities are taking shape. It is our
responsibility to ensure that education can be used as a means of economic, social
and cultural emancipation. We have to strive for empowerment through education
such that self-actualization is not a mere dream and ensure that no part of the society
remains untouched from the forces of positive change in the State of Gujarat.
The Commissionerate of Higher Education (CHE) and Knowledge
Consortium of Gujarat (KCG) are playing a key role in giving a new direction to
Higher Education in the state. The current efforts to introduce choice based credit
system, reform in assessments & examinations, training of faculty, promotion of research in universities,
development of curriculum, and capacity building are some of the critical areas in which the state of Gujarat
has taken a lead role in relation to all other states. The CHE, due to its proactive approach to quality
education has been able to bring the academic community together to help in creating a system of education
that is becoming more accountable to all the stakeholders.

My Dream of Higher Education
Higher Education should be completely OPEN in terms of Learning,
Teaching, Assessment, and Accreditation along with Open Textbook through which
we can develop the 21st Century Skills like Creativity, Critical Thinking,
Collaboration, Communication, Innovation and Problem Solving in Learner.
In order to implement these 21st Century Skills in learner the role of Teacher
also needs to chance from traditional Teaching & Learning. So the role of Teacher
should be modified as The Learner, The Collector, the Curator, The Alchemist, The
Programmer, The Convener, The Coordinator, The Designer, The Coach, The
Agitator, The Facilitator, Tech Support, The Moderator, The Critics, The Lecturer,
The Demonstrator, The Mentor, The connector, The Theorizer, The Sharer, The
Evaluator, The Bureaucrat.
I also put emphasis on the accountability of teacher in Higher Education.
Digital Skill would be the additional requirement along with other subject specific criteria for the
requirement of teacher in Higher Education. Effective Research & Development should be made compulsory
for faculties as well as students at UG and PG level in colleges and institute of Higher Education.

ENGLISH VINGLISH is the endearing story of Shashi, a
dedicated, sensitive yet taken for granted Maharashtrian home-
maker who is also a small time entrepreneur (she makes and
sells sumptuous ladoos). But inspite of her skills her family does
not give her due respect and often makes playful but insensitive
jibes at her for not knowing sufficient English. She experiences
hurt feeling when her own daughter often ridicules her on this ac-
count and her husband cracks a joke that she was born only to
make ladoos. However, circumstances give her an opportunity to
learn English in a crash course in USA where she is required to go
for helping in the wedding preparations of her niece. In the climax
she surprises her entire family and her small group of friends from
her language school, when she expresses herself beautifully in
English by giving a short speech on marriage relationships, which
touches everyone. She thus becomes self-assured and confident.
The movie is worth a watch for its simple story & great screenplay
by debutante director Gauri Shinde , flawless performance of Sridevi as Shashi , delightful cameo by
Amitabh Bachchan , good performances by the supporting cast , superb dialogues, peppy music
which is in perfect sync with the mood of the film and great camera work which captures the pictur-
esque locations of NY & tall buildings of Manhattan perfectly.
