1. INTRODUCTION

Easts Rugby Union Club Incorporated consists of both junior and senior teams. In 2012 the club fielded

over 980 players across 64 teams U6 to U17 and eight senior teams (Premiers, four grade teams,

onePremier Colts, two U19 Colts teams and three associated suburban competition teams) and Easts

Vets, over 35’s.

A Board of Directors manages the club and the Junior Rugby Director (Kylie Duncan) is a voting member

of the Board of Directors. If junior parents have any concerns regarding the management of the club

overall, they can contact Kylie Duncan or another member of the Board. The junior teams are

administered by the Junior Sub-Committee, which consists of volunteer parents.

The Club fosters a strong community spirit and provides the opportunity for members to network with

like-minded individuals. Volunteers are at the core of the Club’s operation, with one full time employee

being Julie Laws, the Clubhouse Manager. Additional casual staff are employed to maintain the fields

and operate the food and beverage outlets such as the bar as required.

2. CLUB ETHOS

Simply, the Club is about providing a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all members, particularly

children to play Rugby Union.

Some key components of our ethos relevant to the junior players are:

• Where possible, the club will accept any junior player who wishes to play with the only exception

being players that sign up late or mid season and there are no teams in the appropriate age group

that have vacancies.

• All players are to be given approximately equal game time, subject to their reasonable

commitment to attending training. This includes participation in finals for the U13 to U17 teams.

3. TRYRUGBY KIDS PATHWAY (U6 – U12)

Aim and philosophy of the TryRugby Kids Pathway

The aim of the TryRugby Kids Pathway for U6 to U12 players is to provide a series of age-specific

modified rugby games. These modified rugby games progressively develop the individual skills, fitness

and team work of all players in accordance with their physical maturity and understanding of the game.

The philosophy is child-centred and ensures all players receive the greatest possible participation and

enjoyment from playing the game of Rugby.

What are the benefits?

The Kids Pathway has been developed to:

- Increase activity levels for maximum participation and enjoyment.

- Meet the developmental needs of young Rugby players in line with the safety focus of the

modern game.

- Provide an integrated and consistent approach to the development of U6 to U12 players,

coaches and referees across the country.

Are there changes from 2012?

Following a thorough review in 2010, successful implementation in 2011, and minor changes for 2012,

ARU is very pleased with the feedback to date on the current Kids Rugby Pathway Laws. The Laws played

in 2012 will remain the same for 2013.

5. TIGER CUBS

On Friday nights from 5.00 to 6.00pm the club encourages 4 to 5 year olds to join our “Tiger Cubs”

program. Tiger Cubs will assist the younger kid’s introduction to Easts Rugby Union.

We aim to develop ball skills, promote fun and create friendships. The cost is $120 for the season

(approx. 17 weeks). This includes club shirt, Tiger Cub medal, and team photo.

Access to the season draws are available on the BJRU website www.bjru.com.au through the

Competition tab. Draws are updated as necessary and times can change. The Team Manager is

responsible for checking the draw at 2.30pm the Friday prior and notifying the team of any changes.

The printed team sheet is the final indicator of the game.

6.4 REGISTRATION OF PLAYERS

The club has two registrations days each year. Julie Laws as Clubhouse Manager is responsible on behalf

of the club to ensure all registration requirements are completed. However, the principal point of

contact for registrations is the Age Group Registrars. The Registrar/s will be located in the Clubhouse at

the far end near the club office on training nights. All questions regarding registrations can be directed

to the relevant registrars.

New players must provide proof of age with a full birth certificate or passport when registering. There is

no requirement for continuing players to provide proof of age. No player will be registered to play, nor

allowed to play for the club unless they are registered, which includes full payment of fees. Under NO

circumstances will a player be allowed to take to the field unless the registration fees have been paid in

full or periodical payment authority is completed.

7. TEAM ALLOCATION AND GRADING

7.1 TEAM SIZES

The club will limit team sizes to the following numbers to ensure that all players are given a fair

opportunity to get equal game time and to assist coaches with what is a difficult job at times.

Note – These team numbers are minimum/maximum amount of players in each team. It is about giving

all players the equal amount of playing time, and not whether they have friends at school in a certain

team. Team numbers are final; the main aim of the club is to have players enjoy their rugby and meet

new players and friends, while learning to play rugby.

7.2 ALLOCATION OF PLAYERS TO TEAMS (U6 to U12)

Players in the U6 to U12 age groups who were registered at the Club the previous year and who register

on one of the two sign on days will be allocated to the same team as the previous year, unless they

request otherwise. The club will attempt to place previously registered players that register after sign

on day in the same team as the previous year but it is not guaranteed, because of the number of players

we now have at the club, and players will be asked to change teams to ensure all teams and players

have the right amount of players. Due to the increase in player numbers for U12 (15) there may be

cause for a re-distribution of players across the age group to ensure teams have adequate and equal

numbers.

Player safety is paramount, and the club will discuss the option of moving any player (of any age group)

to a team that is commensurate to their skill level with the relevant player and parents.

Players and teams in the U6 to U12 age groups are not graded.

7.3 GRADING OF UNDER 13 TO UNDER 17 TEAMS

The Club has taken a conscious decision to grade the U13 to U17 teams, where there are sufficient

players to field more than one team. The reasons behind ‘grading’ are:

• At the U13 age, the physical development of individual players may vary greatly, which can lead to a

great disparity in weight and strength between individuals, particularly as the season progresses.

• Due to different levels of both physical and behavioural maturity, a marked difference in skill level

often develops between individuals

• It allows players to play at their own level, be competitive and develop at their own pace.

• There is a marked difference in the standard of rugby played in the higher division in these age

groups and experience has shown that players do not enjoy playing a standard of rugby that is

either well above or well below their own skill level.

• Players that play in competitions where the standard is well above their skill level tend to not get as

much playing time as other more skilled players

• It is in the best long-term interests of all players that they play in a competition of an appropriate

standard for their skill level, i.e. not too high or too low.

Once players are registered in a team, the competition rules do not allow players to move to a lower

division during the season, but players may be permitted to play in a higher division.

The process of grading Under 13 players includes:

• A number of intra club trial games will be held and the players will be split into teams. Further

changes will be made depending on training and performance in the BJRU 1ST WEEK grading games,

before the final team selections will be made for the 2013 season. It is acknowledged that players

have a variety of commitments at this time of the year, which conflict with the start of the rugby

season. (As the teams are graded by the BJRU during a series of three (3) pre-season games, the

grading of teams must be completed before the grading rounds so that the team is graded in the

most appropriate competition for them). We require the players to attend at least one (1) training

session.

• The Intra club trials will consist of games ranging from 10-minute thirds to 10-minute quarters

(depending on player numbers and teams). This will ensure that enough time is given for every

player to show the grading committee what skill level they are at, and the potential team that will be

suited to that particular player. At the end of this last game, a meeting will then be held to place the

players into their teams. The consultation between the panel will take into account what was

observed from these short games, with further referral to the comments made by the coaches from

the players of 2012, also used to make the final decision on team placement.

• The Grading Panel will consist of three Level 2 Coaches who will have no link to the age group or any

involvement with the players in the past. They will observe all of the training sessions and

determine the composition of each team. They will take into account the players’ individual skill

level and the requirements of each team, eg. only some players are suitable for front row positions

and each team must have a front row to be able to play.

• The Grading Panel will also allocate players to teams to ensure that where possible, teams will have

the equal number of players

• Once players are graded into teams, coaches will be allocated to each team based on coach/player

relationships and most importantly, accreditation coaching level and experience. Players will not be

selected for a team because their parent is or wants to be the coach of that team. Emphasis will

remain on balancing the teams with the players’ interests to take precedence.

For U14 to U17 teams, the players will be initially allocated to a training squad, where like the Under

13’s an assessment of their skill level will be undertaken. Players will then be graded into the most

appropriate team for that player, to ensure that team numbers are equal and that the general principles

outlined above are followed.

Please note parents: That if your son intends playing but cannot make some or all balancing sessions,

you must still register them so that they can be allocated to a team. Players that sign up after the teams

are balanced will be allocated to the team that needs the extra player and not necessarily the team of

the player’s choice. The allocation of late sign up players is at the discretion of the Junior Rugby

Director, Rugby Managers and Junior Development Team.

It is clearly understood that this can be a difficult process for some players and it is important that

parents are supportive of the process and the aims of balancing.

Finally, parents please remember this is a club of players with many talents and skill levels. The reason

we are grading teams is to ensure that your son is playing in a team where he enjoys his rugby and also

learns and develops skills they have or don’t have. It is about meeting new players and forming a team

that is competitive in the appropriate division that they are graded by the BJRU at the beginning of the

season. Just because they play rugby as friends in their rugby school team does not mean they will play

together at Easts, because we are a club of many players from many local schools, with many different

skill levels and ability.

8. GENERAL INFORMATION

8.1 JUNIOR REGISTRATION FEES

The fees for 2013 are:

• Tiger Cubs $120.00

• Player in U6-U7 $265.00

• Player in U8-U15 $285.00

• Player in U16-U17 $115 for pre-season competition

$115 for post-season competition

A discount structure has been maintained, where any first additional child from the same immediate

family will receive a one off $20.00 family discount.

This fee includes a club shirt, team photo, BJRU player levy, player insurance, ground maintenance and

lighting fees, as well as use of club jerseys, playing equipment, medics and administration.

8.2 REFUND & FEE POLICY

• If a player leaves any time before first game – full refund

• If a player leaves within one month of first game – 50% refund

• If a player leaves more than one month after the first game – no refund

• If a player starts before June holidays – pays full fees

• If a player starts after June holidays – pays 50% fees

8.3 WET WEATHER PROCEDURE

Where possible, games will be called off early in the morning, after Club officials have inspected fields

and decided on their suitability for playing on.

Managers are to check the club website www.eaststigers.com for all home games. A decision will be

made before 6.45 am. Also ensure you have “Liked” the Easts Rugby Union Facebook page, as field

closures at Bottomley Park will also be posted. Check BJRU website www.bjru.com.au or other club

websites if playing away. NB. If are our games are cancelled due to wet weather it doesn’t necessary

mean that all games are games are cancelled.

Parents should check the club website or contact their team managers after 7.15 am to determine

whether games have been cancelled. All team managers are to ensure the contact phone numbers are

correct so as not to cause any confusion and heartache for players, turning up at the field and the games

have been cancelled. Please make sure all parents are aware of this procedure.

On wet training nights, check the club website as a decision will be made by 4pm and posted on the

website prior to travelling to the club.

8.4 PLAYER’S APPAREL – IRB APPROVED

All players' apparel (shoulder pads, head gear etc) will require the “IRB” approval mark. If you are going

to purchase new gear, ensure that it is IRB approved and so marked. As this is a Law of Rugby, referees

will police it and are entitled to not let a player on the field if their gear is not IRB approved. Jerseys are

supplied for each player by the club. Players have to purchase shorts and socks, which will be available

from the club on training nights throughout the season.

8.5 FOOTWEAR

All players are to wear appropriate approved footwear while playing rugby from U6 to U17.

The following restrictions are not negotiable:

(i) Under 6 to 9 - players in these age groups shall play in moulded football boots, blades or sports

shoes (joggers/runners). Under no circumstances is any type of screw in boot tags permitted. Referees

are instructed to check boots before each game for sharp edges and tags

(ii) Under 10 and Older - football boots should be worn in age groups Under10 and older. Moulded

soles, blades or screw in tags (this includes metal tags) are all satisfactory.

(iii) Boot Tags - shall be no more than 18mm in length and be of such composition that no sharp cutting

surfaces exist.

8.6 WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

A weekly newsletter is produced and sent out to parents each Thursday via email. A copy of the

newsletter is also available on the web site and in the clubhouse on Friday nights. This newsletter is an

important tool to keep club members informed of events and information. All information that club

members want included in the newsletter is to reach the club by NO LATER than Wednesday 12.00

(NOON) weekly, preferably by email, for publication and printing for that week.

8.7 MEMBERSHIP OF EASTS RUGBY UNION CLUB INC. (LICENSED CLUB)

Included in the registration fees for junior players is an ordinary membership for one parent of the

licensed club. If a second child is registered, an additional parent is afforded an associate membership

that provides access to the social rights of the club. This year we would like to invite other members to

join as associated members of the club (grandparents, uncles and aunts, friends and neighbours) at a

cost of $20.00 to support the further development of the club. Under Queensland Liquor Licensing

Laws, members and their accompanied guests are able to purchase alcohol at the bar. On home game

days visiting teams are provided reciprocal rights to clubhouse facilities as documented in the playing

draw. If you bring a non-member to the club, particularly on training nights, please be aware that it is a

requirement to sign them in at the register available at the bar.

8.8 SPONSORSHIP

The Club has a range of opportunities for parents to sponsor the club and to provide an avenue for

marketing their business in the process. Sponsorships can be anonymous and donations are also

accepted.

8.9 APPLICATION OF THE CHILD PROTECTION ACT

The Queensland Government introduced the Commission for Children and Young People Act in 2000, to

protect the interests of children and young people. As a member of the junior rugby community, Easts

have followed the procedures to ensure the Act is adhered to.

Easts complies with the legislation and to ensure that all our players are suitably protected, it has been

decided by the Junior Committee that ALL coaches and managers and members of the Junior Committee

are to submit an application under the Act.

The club has a register of those volunteers that have submitted an application form and those

volunteers that have received clearance (Blue Card). Coaches and Managers will be required to submit

an application form prior to taking up their appointment if they have not received appropriate clearance

from the Children’s Commission. Clearance is granted for a two-year period. The criminal history check

will be free of charge for all volunteers. Further information can be accessed at

8.10 OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

The club employs appropriately trained sports medicine staff to attend all home games. Their advice is

to be taken by game officials (referees, coaches, managers and parents) regarding injuries to players and

the ability of the player to continue playing. The number of sports medicine staff that will be engaged

for games is as follows:

Sunday games, two sports medicine personnel will be engaged if more than one game is played at any

one time, otherwise one will be engaged

Saturday games, two sports medicine personnel will be engaged if more than two fields are played on at

any one time, otherwise one will be engaged.

MOUTH GUARDS

All players must wear mouth guards both at training and during the games.

HEAD GEAR

It should be as light as possible and adjustable. Some of the types worn by Rugby League players are not

legal in Rugby; headgear should carry the IRB logo. Head gear is optional but recommended.

Coaches/Managers are responsible for ensuring that goal post pads are fitted prior to starting both

training and games.

9. VOLUNTEERS

The club relies heavily on parents to fill a range of volunteer roles during the course of the year.

9.1 COACH

The team coach’s responsibilities include:

• Ensure that they achieve the appropriate accreditation level. Details of courses are on the QRU

website at www.qru.com.au and also in the club calendar.

• Be available to coach players at training nights and to attend games. If coaches are not available

they are to ensure that they liaise with the Junior Rugby Director to make alternative arrangements .

• Read and sign the “Coaches & Team Management Agreement Form”.

• Ensure that players’ only wear IRB approved headgear and shoulder pads.

• Ensure that the Gear Shed is kept in a tidy and neat condition after training and game days.

• Ensure that the Registrar is informed if games are cancelled or changed for any reason. As much

notice as possible is required.

• There will be a number of trophies given to the boys at the end of the year by the club. These

awards will be explained in a separate document to be given prior to the season proper commences

and finishes.

• Each team will be given a particular area to train on each training night at the beginning of the

season, which will be where the team, will train for the entire season. The reasons for this is to

ensure every team has enough space to train and also if for any reason the team needs to be located

this can be done without any time wasted trying to locate the team.

• Training sessions will be conducted for coaches throughout the season. You are all strongly

encouraged to attend so that we can improve our skills and thereby improve the standard of our

players.

• Keep the Registrar informed of any changes to your team throughout the season, via your team

manager.

• Ensure that you read the Code of Ethics and the Brisbane Competition Rules.

• Ensure that all players and parents are aware of the Code of Ethics as it applies to them.

• Concussion. If a sports trainer or other medical attendant at a game says that a player has been

concussed, the player MUST see a doctor and obtain a medical certificate clearing the player to play.

If a medical certificate is not supplied, NO player will be allowed to play until a medical certificate is

produced to the team manager and coach

9.2 MANAGER

The team manager’s responsibilities include:

• Complete team sheets for both home and away matches, this includes Byes and Forfeits.

• Read and sign the “Coaches & Team Management Agreement Form”.

• Attend training sessions, collect any club information before the end of training and distribute at the

end of training.

• Provide (via email or USB) the junior registrar with a digital I.D. photo of each player in the team no

later than the second training night. (U10 and above only)

• Prepare a jersey-washing roster, bring to the game and distribute to team players. Collect the jerseys

after the game and hand them over to the person rostered to wash them with an instruction that

the jerseys are returned on the next training night (rather than the next game day).

• For U6 to U9, ensure that the team has a qualified referee for home matches

• Ensure that the team has a qualified touch judge for all games and a field marshal for home games.

• Circulate details of coach, manager, other players as well as relevant general information to parents.

• Ensure that all players are correctly registered with the Club through the Registrar - You are not to

accept new players into your team, whether they have played with your team or Easts in previous

years, until you have cleared it with the Registrar.

• Attend all games or arrange a substitute.

• At games, have all players sign the game team sheet, U12 and above ONLY.

• Check to make sure that first aid/medical facilities are available for the game (eg ambulance, sports

medic, etc) and ascertain where the facilities are. At all home games a sports medic is employed and

will be located on the half way line, where all reserves are to be seated during the game, in the

roped off area.

• Keep a record of the score of the game and at the end of the game have the opposing manager and

the referee sign off on the team sheet. The referee and touch judges must also print their names.

• Submit completed team sheets to silver box located outside Tiger Shop at the conclusion of every

match; for away matches team sheets must be in the box by 3pm Sunday.

• Teams that do not submit team sheets do not have their competition points accredited to them until

team sheets are received by the BJRU. Following on from this, a $20.00 fee will be charged by the

BJRU for any team sheets not received, which will then be on charged to the team for payment.

9.3 FIELD MARSHALL

Each team is required to supply a field marshall for every home game and their responsibilities include:

• On arrival at ground, check field surrounds and playing area for dangerous objects and / or potholes

to ensure safe playing area.

• Check if post pads are in good condition and are in position on posts.

• Ensure adequate crowd control precautions are in place. (Rope barrier at 5 metres from field of play

and plastic cones (U6 to U11) or sideline posts (U12 to U18) designating playing area.)

• Check that a Sports Medicine person is in attendance and that the person is stationed near the half

way line with the reserves area is roped off.

• Ensure that people remain behind barriers and that competition rules are followed within the

playing enclosure.

• Games must start and finish on time. There will be no excuses for late starts or finishes.

• Sign-in at the canteen, and wear the Field Marshall vest.

Your volunteer support is critical to providing the right environment for your child to enjoy playing

Rugby and for the club to remain one of the best administered clubs in the Brisbane competition, both

for junior and senior rugby. It also provides an opportunity for parents to meet others and adds to the

already strong community spirit that exists within the club.

10. JUNIOR RUGBY CODE OF CONDUCT

This code is designed:

• To maintain the element of enjoyment and satisfaction in Junior Rugby.

• To make adults aware that young people play to satisfy themselves and not necessarily to satisfy

adults or members of their own peer group.

• To improve the physical fitness of youth by making it attractive, safe and enjoyable for all young

people.

• To constantly remind Administrators, Coaches, Referees, Parents, that Rugby must be administered,

taught and provided, for the good of those young people who wish to play the game.

The QJRU and BJRU Management Committees have the power to cite Players, Coaches, team officials

and/or Spectators for behaviour that may bring the game of Rugby into disrepute.

It is their game!

10.1 ADMINISTRATOR'S CODE

1. Ensure that equal opportunities for participation in Rugby are made available to all irrespective of

ability.

2. Do not allow the game to become primarily spectator entertainment.

3. Equipment and facilities must be appropriate to the maturity level of the young players.

4. Rules and length of schedules should take into consideration the age and maturity level of the young

players.

5. Remember that play is done for its own sake. Do not emphasise the need for awards.

6. Distribute the code of conduct to spectators, coaches, players, referees, parents and teachers.

7. Ensure that parents, coaches, sponsors, doctors and participants understand their authority and

their responsibility for fair play in Rugby.

8. Ensure adequate supervision is maintained at all games.

9. Behave in a manner to set an example for all participants.

10. Do not approach a referee/touch judge at any stage during or immediately after a game.

10.2 MANAGER'S CODE

1. Encourage parents to take an active interest in the Team.

2. Encourage parents and supporters to talk to opposition spectators.

3. Encourage supporters to praise good play by both teams.

4. Discourage supporters from excessive barracking.

5. Provide administrative assistance to the Coach including full knowledge of the Competition Rules

and paperwork requirements.

6. Be fully informed of Rugby requirements and matters affecting your team.

7. Look after injured players while they are not able to take the field.

8. Ensure that players are aware of representative trials and if selected, they are fully aware of their

commitments and that they know of their selection.

9. Insist on an appropriate standard of team behaviour both on and off the field.

10. Set an example in terms of behaviour.

11. Do not approach a referee/touch judge at any stage during or immediately after a game.

10.3 COACH’S CODE

1. You have responsibility for the behaviour of your team and its supporters. EXERCISE IT.

2. Be reasonable in your demands on the young player's time, energy and enthusiasm. Remember that

they have other interests and demands on their time.

3. Teach your players that laws of the game are mutual agreements, which no one should evade or

break.

4. Ensure that all players get a game. The 'just average' players need and deserve equal time.

5. Remember that young people play for fun and enjoyment and that winning is only part of it. Never

ridicule or yell at the players for making mistakes or losing a game.

6. The scheduling and length of training times and games should take into consideration the maturity

level of the players.

7. Develop team respect for the ability of opponents, as well as, the judgement of referees and

opposing coaches.

8. Follow the advice of a doctor in determining when an injured player is ready to play again.

9. Remember that young people need a coach they can respect. Be generous with your praise when it

is deserved and set a good example.

10. Make a personal commitment to keep yourself informed on sound coaching principles and the

principles of growth and development of young people.

11. Encourage young people to develop basic skills and avoid over-specialisation in positional play

during their formative years.

12. Create opportunities to teach sportsmanship, just as you would in teaching the basic skills.

13. Ensure that efforts for both skill improvement and good sportsmanship are rewarded by praise.

14. Ensure that skill learning and free play activities have priority over highly structured competitions for

very young people.

15. INSIST ON FAIR PLAY; do not tolerate foul play, fighting, or foul language. Be prepared to take off an

offending player.

16. Discourage excessive talk on the field.

17. INSIST on a disciplined approach by players and mean what you say.

18. Set a good example by personal good behaviour.

19. Do not approach a referee/touch judge at any stage during or immediately after a game.

10.4 PLAYER'S CODE

1. Play for the 'enjoyment', not just to please your parents or coach.

2. Play the laws of the game of Rugby

3. Never argue with the referee's decisions. Let your captain ask any necessary questions.

4. Control your temper - no 'mouthing off'.

5. Work equally hard for yourself and your team - you team's performance will benefit and so will your

own.

6. Be a good sport. Applaud all good play, whether by your team or by your opponent.

7. Treat all players, as you yourself would like to be treated. Don't interfere with, bully or take unfair

advantage of any player.

8. Remember that the goals of the game are to have fun, improve your skills and feel good. Don't be a

show off or always try to get the most points.

9. Co-operate with your coach, manager, teammates, referee and opponents, for without them you

don't have a game.

10. Do not approach a referee/touch judge at any stage during or immediately after a game.

10.5 REFEREE'S CODE

1. Ensure that "over-refereeing" the game does not lose the 'spirit of the game' for young people.

2. Actions speak louder than words. Ensure that both on and off the field your behaviour is consistent

with the principles of good sportsmanship.

3. Compliment both teams on their good play whenever such praise is deserved.

4. Be consistent, objective and courteous.

5. Condemn the deliberate 'good foul' as being unsportsmanlike, thus retaining respect for fair play.

6. Publicly encourage law changes, which will reinforce the principles of participation for fun and

enjoyment.

7. Make a personal commitment to keep yourself informed on sound refereeing principles and the

principles of growth and development of young people.

8. Avoid comment on Competition Rules, only deal with the Laws of the Game.

10.6 PARENT'S CODE

1. Do not force an unwilling youngster to participate in Rugby.

2. Remember, young people are involved in Rugby for their enjoyment, not yours.

3. Encourage your child to always play by the laws.

4. Teach young people that honest effort is as important as victory so the result of each game is

accepted without undue disappointment.

5. Turn defeat into victory by helping young people work towards skill improvement and good

sportsmanship. Never ridicule or yell at your child for making a mistake or losing a game.

6. Remember that young people learn best by example. Applaud good play by your team and by

members of the opposing team.

7. Do not publicly question the referee's judgement and never his/her honesty.

8. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from Junior Rugby.

9. Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches, managers and referees. They give up

their time and resources to provide recreational activities for your children.

10. Do not approach a referee/touch judge at any stage during or immediately after a game.

10.7 SPECTATOR'S CODE

1. Remember that young people play organised sports for their own fun. They are not there to

entertain you and they are not miniature Wallabies.

2. Be on your best behaviour. Don't use offensive language, or harass players, coaches, referees or

other spectators.

3. Applaud good play by your own team and the opposition team.

4. Show respect for your team's opponents. Without them there would be no games.

5. Never ridicule or scold a player for making a mistake during the game.

6. Condemn the use of violence in all forms.

7. Respect the referee's decisions.

8. Encourage players to play according to the laws.

9. SLEDGING: THIS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED in any shape or form. Players and Referees are NOT fair

game.

10. Do not approach a referee/touch judge at any stage during or immediately after a game.

Remember, the QJRU and BJRU Management Committees have the power to cite Players, Coaches,

and/or Spectators for behaviour that may bring the game of Rugby into disrepute.

Bulimba St, Bulimba. Proceed outbound along Wynnum Rd, left into Hawthorne Rd, follow to roundabout,

left into Oxford St, after shops right into Bulimba St. Field is on left.

Old Ipswich Rd, Riverview. Travel along Ipswich Motorway and take Moggil Ferry turn off. Turn into

Tessman St, left into Old Ipswich Rd, just past Anderson St (on the Right) turn left into dirt side road that

runs along School boundary.

Southern Bay – Charlie Buckler Sports Ground (UBD Map 226 Ref H13) Boundary Rd, Redland Bay. Follow Cleveland Redland Bay Rd: from the North Pass Double Jump Rd,

from the South pass Gordon Rd. and then turn into Boundary Rd and the grounds are on the left. (There

is another Boundary Rd to the North in Thornlands)

Shaftesbury St, Ekibin. From Chardons Corner on Ipswich Rd, head along Cracknell Rd 1.3 km. At the shops,

off ramp, left at roundabout into Springfield Lakes Boulevard, continue through next roundabout and at the

next roundabout the grounds are on your right.

Corner of McCullough and Granadilla St, Sunnybank. South on Freeway from city. Take Mains Rd exit and

continue along Mains Rd to K Mart, turn left into McCullough St, then second left into Granadilla St.

Grounds are on the right.

Taylor Bridge - Graceville Memorial Oval (UBD Map 178 Ref L12)

Corner Oxley Rd and Plumridge St, Graceville. Travel South on Coonan St Indooroopilly (FROM TOWN),

across the Walter Taylor Bridge. Left immediately after crossing the bridge into Bridge St, Right at lights

into Wharf St which becomes Oxley Rd. Follow along Oxley Rd to Plumridge St (fourth street on right).

Parking available in the grounds simply by proceeding a further 200 m along Oxley Rd. Entry into grounds

immediately opposite the tennis courts.
