1. CREATION

In the beginning, God created a perfect world for us to live in. There was no sin and everything He made was good. Genesis 1 “By faith, we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.”

- Hebrews 11:3

2. SIN

3. GOD PROMISES A SAVIOR

Sin brought death to the world, but God loved us so much, he promised to send a Savior to take our place and pay for our sin. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”

- John 3:16

4. JESUS IS BORN

Christmas is the beginning of the Easter story. Christmas is when we celebrate that Jesus, God’s Son, was born into this world to take our place. “And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

- Luke 2:10-11

Adam & Eve were tempted to sin. When they sinned, they immediately knew they had done something wrong. God confronted them about their sin and told them the consequences. Because of sin, people would have to die. “For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be righteous.”

- Romans 5:19

5. JESUS’ MINISTRY

While Jesus was on earth, he lived a perfect life. He taught people about God and His plan for us. He healed many people and performed miracles. One of those miracles was feeding many, many people with only 5 loaves of bread and 2 small fish. “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many? Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. Jesus then took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. And when they had eaten their fill, He told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.” So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten. When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, “This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!”

- John 6:9-14

6. PALM SUNDAY

People began to follow Jesus and knew He was special. Some people thought he would be an earthly king. Once Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, and people laid down their coats and put palm branches on the ground to welcome this king. “As He was drawing near – already on the way down the Mount of Olives – the whole multitude of His disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

- Luke 19:37-38

7. THE LAST SUPPER

The Last Supper: Jesus knew his time was coming. He gathered his disciples together and gave them a new promise. “Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body.’”

- Matthew 26:26-29

8. JUDAS BETRAYS JESUS

Some people were upset that Jesus wasn’t following the law they were used to. Others were afraid he was trying to be the new king on earth. One of Jesus’ disciples, Judas, loved money and he agreed to betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Jesus was arrested. “While he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the elders of the people. Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, "The one I will kiss is the man; seize him." And he came up to Jesus at once and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" And he kissed him. Jesus said to him, "Friend, do what you came to do." Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and seized him.

- Matthew 26:47-50

9. JESUS WAS CRUCIFIED

Jesus was put on trial even though he had done nothing wrong. Pontius Pilate could find nothing wrong either, but the people were so angry, they demanded that Jesus be crucified. Pontius Pilate had Jesus beaten and placed a crown of thorns on his head. “and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head and put a reed in His right hand. And kneeling before Him, they mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!

- Matthew 27:29

10. JESUS DIED

Eventually, Jesus was handed over. The soldiers nailed Jesus on the cross to die. “So they took Jesus, and He went out, bearing His own cross, to the place called The Place of a Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha. There they crucified Him, and with Him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them. Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews."

12. JESUS IS ALIVE!

Jesus died, but he didn’t stay dead. Just as he promised, Jesus rose from the dead because he is God and he took the punishment for our sins. “He is not here, for He has risen, as He said. Come, see the place where He lay.”

- Matthew 28:6

11. JESUS WAS BURIED

Jesus died on the cross. His body was taken down and he was buried in a tomb, like a cave, with a huge rock rolled in front of the entrance. “Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.”
