Rounds six and seven of EASSC’s summer championship, sponsored by Absolutely Plastered and Essex & Middlesex MX, was held at Culham. The track was in great condition thanks to the preparation and hard work of Rob Wood. The weekend started off dry and we were hit-and-miss with the big thunderstorms that rolled through during the day. Sunday was a more wet affair with rain late Saturday and into Sunday.

Round 6

The AMX victory went to Josh Bunter proving that consistency is key, taking two second places and one third. Mitch Young took second spot by winning the first race which he followed with a second place but dropped to 7th in the last race. Third place went to Sam Lamont who sat tight in fourth all day. A special mention must go to Connor Dennis who took the last two wins but had a less than ideal first race so could only manage fourth overall.

The Small Wheel 85s were next to the line and Tom Sedgwick was nearly perfect with two race wins but dropped to fifth in the last race. Callum Murfitt rode hard, taking second overall and the last race win of the day, leaving Ethan Sills to step onto the last place of the podium with a 4-3-3 set of finishes.

Wal Beaney was the runner up twice and took the second race win to secure top spot in the Junior 65s. Second place went to Ashton Boughen with two thirds and one second place. Ashden Barlow nabbed third place with a fourth, third and fifth.

Next out were the Autos and Rocco Hands was consistently at the front, taking one race win and two second places. Jake Last was always in the mix, with one race win and two third places. Joey Benfield took third place with a 4-2-4 set of results.

The Vets rider Glen Bixby put his experience to good use and was the only rider of the day to take maximum points. Paul Willis worked hard to get in

between Bixby and the chequered flag but had to settle for second spot. Last on the podium was Mark Hawkins with a third and two fourth place finishes.

The day improved for Ryan Watts in the Open class starting off with a fourth place, moving to second and finally the race win to secure top spot. Ben Butler, on equal points, put in a 2-1-4 set of results so had to settle for second, leaving Dylan Hodgkins with third having been third twice and second in the last race.
