The band members really worked hard throughout the season. Their scores moved constantly upwards and the comments from the judges were always favorable. Thanks for your effort and cooperation! ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to the WHS Winter Winds. The band members capped off their inaugural season with a fine performance at the Winter Winds State Finals. The WHS Winter Winds earned the Bronze Medal.

The band members really worked hard throughout the season. Their scores moved constantly upwards and the comments from the judges were always favorable. Thanks for your effort and cooperation!

The Testing Center will NOT be open during 6th period on Thursday, March 28th due to no PlusTime or Shuttle Buses that day. That leaves only three more Testing Center days before Spring Break! Plan accordingly!

It's that time of year again, and Pennies for Patients is HERE! Pennies for Patients (a competition hosted by your very own Student Government) is a school-wide fundraising event that raises money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, whose mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

March 11 to Friday, March 22, you and your fourth period class will be competing to see who can collect the most change (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, etc.) to support this cause. But, here's the catch: other classes are allowed to "bomb" or take away your points by placing dollar bills instead of change into your Pennies for Patients box, so be on the lookout for some friendly competition and start collecting your pocket change now!

On Tuesday, March 19th high school students have an opportunity to take advantage of the Skilled Trades Majors & Careers Fair to be held at Carmel High School from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Over 65 professionals, companies, and organizations will represent in-demand, high-wage career options and training opportunities at the fair. The event is FREE, and local high school students and parents in all grade levels are welcome to attend! The event is hosted by Carmel High School’s College & Career Resource Center (CCRC) as a way to provide access to career information for local students.

Students and parents will also be able to attend breakout sessions in order to learn more about in-demand, high-wage careers and related educational and training opportunities. We hope to see you there!

Former Ceramics Students! Your deadline to claim ALL pottery and ceramic pieces is Wednesday before Spring Break (3/27). Anything left in the kiln room for will be up for grabs on Thursday (3/28), for both students and teachers. All remaining items will be thrown away. No exceptions. Don't delay and pick up your items soon! (Items in Display Cases are being saved for Rock the Arts on May 5th. Pick up for those items will be Monday May 6th!) Immunization Notice for Juniors: The following Immunizations are REQUIRED for Seniors before starting school Fall 2019:

1. 2 nd MCV4 (Meningitis) 2. Hepatitis A #1 & #2

● Requires 2 doses given at least 6 months apart ● If you have not started the Hepatitis A series, the first Hep A should be started ASAP

○ Must have documentation of Hep A #1 + an appointment date for Hep A #2 BEFORE school starts in the Fall

( Immunization EXEMPTIONS - Religious or Medical - can be accepted AFTER Spring Break for the following school year.) Students: When arriving on late start Wednesdays, you may enter the building at 8:05 am but you may NOT be in the hallways and/or classrooms until 8:15 am. You may wait in the Bistro, the Main Office Atrium, the Main Cafeteria or Door #13 Atrium. Breakfast will be served in the Main Cafeteria and the Bistro but the Learning Center and Famous Phils is closed during that time. It's not too late to purchase a yearbook! Yearbooks are on sale for $60 at http://yearbookforever.com . Prices will go up, so get yours now. Additionally, seniors, don't forget to submit your senior quotes under the "Class of 2019" class on Canvas! The deadline is March 22. WHS students and parents: Please be aware that students may not have food delivered from any outside restaurant delivery service during the school day. ANY exceptions MUST have approval from an administrator. Students who forgot a lunch have the option of eating in one of our cafeterias. We have our main cafeteria that offers multiple food choices each day, our Famous Phil’s shop in the Learning Center that offers sandwiches, and our Box Office Bistro that has pizza every day. Lunch money can be deposited online at any time. If a parent drops off lunch from an outside restaurant it will be kept in the office area and the student it belongs to will be asked to eat

CLUB AND ACTIVITY NEWS: The LEO Club Pancake Breakfast is THIS Saturday from 8-11am. All proceeds from this year's breakfast will go to support Katlyn Stevenson, WHS Cheer Coach and WHS alum who is battling stage 3 adrenal cancer. Enjoy an ALL YOU CAN EAT breakfast while supporting one of our own Shamrocks!" The WHS steel pan club put on an outstanding performance at the Gathering of the Pans festival in Ohio over this past weekend. The students also played in a mass band with over 100 other students from different Ohio schools. This was first time for WHS to participate in this event and these students represented WHS in the best way possible! Part 2 of EliteGamingLive will be held in the LGI room after school until about 5:30 pm on the following days: Tuesday, April 9 For more information see Mr. England in room 2437 ATHLETICS: Boys Varsity Track scores 0 points at meet at HSR Qualifier. The boys track team competed in the Lawrence Central Qualifier on Saturday, with some of the performances solidifying the qualifying ranks for the HSR Finals. The 4x200 relay of Cooper Boehm, Alex Kukura, Mason Piening, and Francis Agbo, as well as the 4x400 relay of Calvin Grenda, Justin Homberg, Mahamat Djour, and Kukura both won their events and improved their seeding for next week's championships. In addition, Joe Barnett had an outstanding 3200 race, breaking 10 minutes for the first time in his career. Agbo and Grenda ran well in the 60 and 60 hurdles respectively, but both currently sit outside the top 24 required to qualify. Also improving performances, but not cracking the top 24 were Jacob Netral and Colin Caldwell in the shot put. Also running well in the DMR and 4x800 relays that have already qualified were Jacob Beene, Max Gutwein, Josh Springborn, Robby Bogdajewicz, Tyler Smith, Joe Harris, Noah Douthit, and Samuel Novak. The indoor season will end next Saturday at Gladstein Fieldhouse in Bloomington at the HSR Finals, the defacto indoor state championships. Participating in the event as a result of achieving one of the top 24 performances in the state, is the 4x800 relay (ranked 7th), Cooper Boehm in the 60 hurdles (8th), the 4x200 relay (11th), the Distance Medley Relay (15th), and the 4x400 relay (16th). The team is also in action on Thursday, with a dual meet against Brownsburg at Riverview Health Stadium. If you are interested in joining the 2019-20 WHS Fall Cheerleading Program , the callout meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 20 during Rocks Connection in Miss Stephens' room (2408). If you are unable to attend but would like the information regarding tryouts/season expectations, contact the fall cheer coaches at [email protected] or contact Miss Stephens. SCHOOL COUNSELING CENTER: The following College Visits will be during PlusTime on Wednesdays (11:28 am - 12:06 pm) in the Learning Center and only open to 11 th and 12 th graders. Students must sign up in PlusTime. The following College Visits are during Plus Time on Tuesday/Thursday in the Learning Center and open to any student in grades 9-12. Students should register in PlusTime. Indiana University-Kokomo (IN)-Thursday March 21st Ivy Tech Community College-Central Indiana (IN)-Thursday March 28th University of Dundee (Scotland)-Thursday April 18th. You have to sign up in Naviance. This visit is at 9:00 am. PARENTS: We have a new security system this year called Safe Visitor . For the safety and security of our students and staff ALL visitors to the school will need to be prepared to show their driver’s license or photo identification as a visitor in our school.
