Ms. Marlinda Barragan is proud to be anSSCS Eagle!

“I love what I do!” – Marlinda Barragan

Hello! My name is Marlinda Montoya-Barragan and I love being apreschool teacher at St. Stephen! I am a Colorado native, born inBoulder; however, I was raised in Grand Junction. I have been inthe Roaring Fork Valley for 20 years. I’ve been working in Early-Childhood Education since 1998. I began my career in Aspen;where I continued my education and training with preschool-agedchildren. I left teaching for a short time to start my own family;when they were old enough to go to school, I returned toteaching. I later ran a home daycare in El Jebel for three years. After that journey, I decided to join Rocky Mountain Head Start.where I learned so much about our community and the needs ofpreschool programs. In 2014, I made another move to the RoaringFork School District. I brought my Head Start experience to theirpreschool program. Now, as a Catholic, I feel blessed to beteaching and using all of my experience here at SSCS; I lovewatching young children grow and learn through play.

My family and I enjoy an active life of camping, hiking, rafting andfishing in the great outdoors.

Ask Your Child About this month’s virtue… Here at St. Stephen Catholic School we use TheVirtues in Practice Program, which was createdby the Dominican Sisters. The goal of Catholiceducation is heaven, but knowledge alone willnot get us there! Virtues in Practice helpsstudents to live out the faith in their everydaylives. Each year has a theme of study; thisyear’s theme is HOPE. Hope – trusting in God’sloving plan, was also September’s virtue. Lastmonth’s focus saints were: St. Joseph, St.Elizabeth Ann Seton and Bls. Louis & ZelieMartin. October’s virtue is STUDIOUSNESS –seeking knowledge to grow closer to the truth. The focus saints are St. Albert the Great, St.Thomas Aquinas and St. Edith Stein (all picturedto the left). We invite you to join us on thisjourney illuminated by faith.
