Dear Pastor Shawn,

Thank you so much for the beautiful funeral service for Rosella. The family found it very heartwarming, comforting and peaceful. Thanks for your prayers and Pastoral Care during this difficult time of sorrow.

Faith, Love, Hope Lori & Roy Slothour, George Slothour, Georgia & Darwin Weibley

Dear Bonnie & Fellowship Committee,

Thank you so much for the beautiful luncheon. Everything was perfect and the food tasted delicious. Thanks again to our church family & friends for all their help setting up and preparing the food provided. Greatly appreciated.

“Good News & Brews”

“Good News & Brews” is a partnership ministry between St. John’s and

Trinity in East Berlin. We will gather on the fourth Tuesday of each month at

the Altland House for conversation; a time to be social, drink wine or beer

and eat some dinner, if you wish. The pastors will share the Good News and

a topic for conversation. Join us on Tuesday, July 25th for our next gathering.

Please invite a friend.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers will be needed throughout the summer (June through August) to care for

the community garden. Jobs include weeding, watering, and harvesting. Look out for

the sign-up sheet located in the Fellowship Hall to express interest and times

available. Please call Audrey Flickinger at 259-9211 if you have any questions or are

interested in helping during the summer.

CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUNDING GOAL:

NARTHEX MODERNIZATION PROJECT (NMP)

As you enter and exit the church you will see some changes being made over the

next few months to the wooden doorways and East and West Vestibules (Narthex). The church unanimously agreed to spend $65,000.00 to complete the renewal

project, which includes a 3% interest payment for the money borrowed from the Touch of Grace Fund. To date we have received $32,594 designated for this project. All money designated on church envelopes for Capital Improvement will

go toward this project. Thank you for your generosity, to date, toward our renewal effort. The Property Planning Committee looks forward to getting the project underway.

The congregation said goodbye to seminarian AJ Houseman at

our annual outdoor worship service and brunch. To honor her

time with us, the church pledged $1,000.00 to the ELCA Fund

for Leaders Scholarship through our 2018 Endowment Gift. The

ELCA Fund for Leaders (FFL) helps to raise up and financially

support students studying at ELCA seminaries who have

demonstrated outstanding leadership potential and exceptional

gifts for ministry. The vision is to one day support every candidate

for rostered ministry with a full-tuition scholarship to an ELCA seminary, to empower and enable

our leaders to serve as the church needs and the Holy Spirit leads. Thank you St. John’s for helping

make this vision a possibility with your continued support to our Endowment Fund.

Part-time Employment Opportunity- Director of Christian Ed St. John’s is creating a new part-time position to help with Christian Education

and Faith Formation. For many years our congregation has relied on volunteers to

plan, create and teach our children and adults, doing everything from start to

finish. The Christian Education committee has struggled to find volunteers willing to take on a

job that requires so much time and planning. Therefore, we are looking in a new direction, and are

excited about hiring someone to take on the responsibilities of Director of Christian

Education and Faith Formation. To view the full job description, please go to the website or click

here. For additional information, please contact Pastor Shawn Berkebile at 717-259-0796 or

[email protected].
