Message from the President
As we turn the page on another calendar year, it is important that during this Holiday Season, we give thanks for all that we have and all that we look forward to.
Having just completed the 100th Anniversary of the East Aurora Country Club, it is important to reflect on
our Club’s history and all the contributions and memories of past and current members that have made East Aurora a special place.
As we now proceed into 2017 and the next period in our history, I firmly believe that we are positioned to continue to build on the foundation of our Club’s first 100 years. The support and involvement of the membership has always been the catalyst for our Club’s success.
I would like to thank our departing Board members, Rich Day, Gary Toomey and president, Bryan Smith, for their dedication, contributions and service over the past 3 years.
I would like to welcome our new Board members, Dave Finn, Jay Hoagland and Frank Trzepkowski and look forward to their participation throughout their term.
I am fortunate to continue to serve on the Board along with the counsel provided by John Holder, Doug Marky, John McKenna, Dick Hillegas and Vince Rowland.
We are also fortunate to have our managers, David Jones, George Mintzer and Drew Thompson manag-ing the principal areas of our Club.
The Annual Member Business Meeting, held on Saturday, December 17, was well attended. It outlined and summarized the accomplishments and challenges of the Club over the past year. If you were unable to attend, we plan on uploading the entire presentation onto the Member’s Portal of the East Aurora web site for your viewing.
It is my honor to serve as the president of the East Aurora Country Club in 2017 and look forward to working closely with the entire membership.

Clubhouse News
I would like to wish a HAPPY NEW YEAR to all the members of the East Aurora Country Club from the entire House staff. It is our pleasure to serve you and thank you for your support throughout the past year.
Along with my staff, Steve, Pat and Frankie, we are working on ways to continue to make your House experience special and enjoya-ble. Piano Saturdays will continue in the months of February and March and we will be creating weekly Thursday specials that we hope will peek your interest. And of course Wine Down Wednesday’s will be back for your casual social experience.
Just as a reminder we will be closed for the entire month of January. However, we will be using this time to work on numerous House projects to prepare for the upcoming season. Look forward to seeing you at the Club in February.
George Mintzer, House Manager

Your support of the Club is truly appre-ciated.
Congratulations to all of the win-ners ....... and to the rest of us as they say "better luck next year"!

News from the Golf Shop:
Dear Member,
I trust that you’ve had a great holiday season and are equally as excited to return to the links as I am. Only a few short weeks left! Hopefully Mother Nature remains kind and allows us to keep the snow blowers in the garage…where they belong!
I had a wonderful Christmas sale and was successful in moving some inventory and collecting some dona-tions for those less fortunate. We gave an additional 10% off the sale price to anyone that brought in an old shirt for donation. We collected over 50 items! Everyone won. Another benefit is that it made a tremendous amount of room for the 2017 inventory.
In January I will be attending the PGA show with Kevin and Brandon. This is the largest trade show in the world and offers golf professionals a chance to see what’s new for the upcoming season. I have been going for over 20 consecutive years and have yet to see everything there is to offer. This is a great opportunity for you to let me know of any specific requests. I always do my best to make sure your wants are met. It works best for both of us that way.
On that note, please don’t hesitate to send me a note if you have something in particular you’d like to see in the shop next season. I can’t guarantee I will be able to bring it in, but it is always nice to try. (Some compa-nies have ultra high minimums)
Stay safe and healthy!
Dave

MULLIGANS NEWS:
The Mulligans would like to congratulate and thank Don Hayes for his leadership in 2016. Great job!
As we move into the new year we welcome new members and remind everyone that we meet every Friday for lunch even when there is no golf. On Fridays in January we will be meeting at Wallenwein's and will be back at EACC starting February 3rd.
Lastly, don't forget to send a Post Card if you are missing for three meetings. It is important that we hear from our missing Mulligans.

IJM Update - January
On behalf of the IJM Committee I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and the best of everything in 2017! Just one update for everyone. It was announced at the annual member meeting in December, but for those who were unable to attend, I wanted to let you know that beginning in 2017, the IJM champion will receive an exemption into the Porter Cup field. This effort has been ongo-ing for a few years and finally came to fruition thanks to a meeting I had with the Porter Cup Tournament Director in November. Many thanks to Frank Ziolkowski for his assistance in set-ting up the meeting. We are thrilled to have our champion play in such a prestigious amateur event and are very confident that this will help us to further strengthen our field this year and in the years to come. The IJM planning process is in full swing. Please see me, Paul O’Brien, Ron Olson or Frank Ziolkowski if you want to assist us this year. Jeff Kamien IJM Tournament Director
NINE HOLE NOTES
Happy New Year! As January begins, those of us still in Western New York are wrack-ing our brains trying to come up with creative ways to work on our swings and perfect our putts in frigid temps! Others are enjoying a warm weather getaway, hopefully with the golf clubs in tow! Looking to the 2017 season, our league will be chaired by Caryn Bartnik, with Donna McKenna and Carol Smith as her co-chairs. Some of our members have already expressed an interest in helping out with various activities for our upcom-ing season, and please continue to share your thoughts and time through the off season to assure a good time once we are back out on the course. All women golfers are welcome and encouraged to join us in the 9 Hole League. We golf every Thursday morning, teeing off at 9AM, from April through September. If you are interested, and would like more information, please contact the pro shop or any 9 hole player.
