Getting Started:Potential participants will be chosen by

application process.All applicants will have completed the

application survey.

The learners will be pre-service teachers and experienced educators who exhibit openness to technology and have a desire to develop a teaching style that will appeal to all learners. The learners wishing to participate in the program will be asked to consent to being recorded on video and must exhibit:•Willingness to participate•Basic computer knowledge•Access to the internet within her classroom•Connection from classroom computer to television or projector•Openness to teaching with a new approach

This course will be a six and a half hour course taught in two formats:One 8 hour day (with 2 15 minute breaks and 1 hour lunch break)3 segments

2- 2¼ hour courses (1st and 3rd sessions)1- 2 hour courses (2nd session)

The course will be presented in 8 sections:Introduction – 15 min.Understanding the 21st century learner – 30 minWhy Active Engagement – 30 minThe Social Aspect: Blogging – 1 hourThe Social Aspect: Bookmarking – 1 hourKeeping it organized: Electronic Portfolios – 1 hourMulti-Media: A look at Discovery Education and United Streaming, TeacherTube/YouTube and Moodle – 1½ hourConclusion (Review, apply what you know, assessment) – 45 min

This course will be taught through interactive education or a hands on approach. With emphasis in experiential learning, All learning strategies will be demonstrated allowing the educator to be the learner and experience what their students will be experiencing. Educators participating in the course will: •role-play•Debate•participate in think pair-shares•perform simulations •think-out-louds. Participants will make connections to prior knowledge and will have open discussions on these relationships. Each section will be presented in a multi-media format, offering: •inspirational/motivational video clips•activities (small group and whole group)•discussion (open forum, think pair-shares, turn and talks, dramatizations)•assessment (round robin and individualized)

As assessment participants will be asked to perform the following activities (within their group):

•Post a lesson plan to an electronic portfolio•Link a UnitedStreaming video or other video resource to the lesson.•Create a social bookmarking account and input 3 links.•Create a PowerPoint or equivalent slideshow presentation summarizing the information learned in this course.
