The founder of E-proPLAST GmbH, Modesto Richard Pesavento, can pre-sently look back on 65 years of experi-ence in plastics processing and mold-making. Already in 1954, he completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker.

In 1991, together with two partners, he launched the FORMCONSULT GmbH mold-making company in Schmalkalden / Thuringia.

In 1999, Mr. Pe-savento founded E-proPLAST GmbH. Initially, the focus was on carrying out mold trials for mold making. This resul-

ted in the production of injection mol-ding parts, specifically for the automo-tive industry.

In 2002, the purchase of the first injection stretch blow-molding machine laid the foundation for the production of PET bottles.

After moving to its own produc-tion site in 2003, the space for further progress was created. This was demonstrated, among other things, in the construc-tion of the honey SQUEEZE bot-tle, which was first delivered in 2005.

The continuous develop-ment of PET packaging paired with the constantly increasing market require-ments, led to the produc-tion of innovative “panel-less hotfill bottles” in 2006.

The introduction of re-cycled material (rPET) in 2012 is just one buil-ding block with which E-proPLAST continuously manages to improve the

sustainability and production of PET pa-ckaging.

The organic growth of the company is reflected in the expansion of production and storage capacity. Over time, the to-tal area has grown to over 10,000 m².

Constant investments, training and further education, as well as own re-search efforts have led to continuous expansion of standard portfolios for many areas of application.

One of E-proPLAST’s strengths, still to this day, is the flexible, customer-orien-ted service. Whether we speak of the initial idea, mold-making, or produc-tion, a large number of i n d i v i d u a l and success-ful customer projects have come to fruition in recent years.

The successive expansion in know-how manifested itself last in the area of “PET Aerosol”. First, an in-house laboratory

was establis-hed in 2018, followed by the certifi-cation of the first produc-t ion-mature aerosol con-tainer.

PET PACKAGING. MADE IN GERMANY.

The self-proclaimed “juice engineers” from Lake Constance contribute to a healthy, “fresh” lifestyle with their company LiveFresh. They make no compromises between nutrition, real taste and durability. The company name — a statement in itself — paired with the fresh, cold-pressed juices and their preservation, requires special de-mands in terms of packaging.

The business relationship between LiveFresh and E-proPLAST began with the supply of PET bottles from our stan-dard EproJUICE portfolio. However, as demand began to rapidly increase and the former small “juice shop” began to morph into a sophisticated juice facto-ry, so too did the demand for packaging begin to increase. With new ideas re-garding bottle shapes and volume ca-pacities, we developed the design of a customer-specific bottle series in the sizes of 60 ml, 250 ml and 750 ml.

In addition to the unique optical aest-hetic, E-proPLAST also received special technical requirements for the new bot-tle series. In order to preserve the pre-mium juices without negatively impac-ting the nutrients and vitamins within, LiveFresh relies on the HPP method of High Pressure Processing.

High Pressure Proces-sing is an alternative to thermal pasteurization of foods such as fruit and vegetable juices.

Here, bottles filled with fresh-pressed juices are exposed to a uniform pressu-re of 2000 - 7000 bars for several minu-tes. In addition to the pressure level, the holding time is a decisive factor. Both vary depending on the product.

This method inactivates the biological functions of microorganisms. Thus, the product life is extended without impac-ting its quality.

This method of preservation requires plastic bottles, since glass cannot with-stand the pressure and could not trans-fer it to the content of the bottle. In addition to customer-specific bottles, E-proPLAST GmbH offers standard bot-tle series that likewise offer the benefits of the HPP processing. Thanks to their weight-optimized modification, the bot-tle series EproJUICE, EproJUICE-Square and EproROUND are especially suitable for this method. Depending on the de-sign, available volumes can range from 100 ml - 1000 ml.

Next, the pressure chamber is filled with cold, filtered water.

The hydrostatic pressure is built up (typically to 6000 bars) and maintai-ned. Through the water, the pressure evenly affects both the bottles and their contents.

The pressure is reduced and the wa-ter pumped out, so that the now dura-ble drinks can be unloaded.

The E-proPLAST GmbH is part of the IK energy efficiency network. Established by the IK-Industrieverband Kunststoff-verpackungen e. V. this network makes up one of more than 200 networks un-der the Initiative for Energy Efficiency Networks (IEEN).

In order to make an important contribu-tion to the achievement of climate and energy policy goals, the federal gover-nment and business associations and organizations agreed to introduce, pro-mote and support this network initiative.

Our continuous commitment to the en-vironment, sustainability and resulting progress are significantly accelerated by networking. The common goal of the IK energy efficiency network is to reach a saving of 22,000,000 kWh. To achieve this, we must jointly expand our know-how and continue to work on reducing energy consumption and increasing energy efficiency.

Since the company’s foun-dation, E-proPLAST GmbH has repeatedly developed and launched innovative products. We are commit-ted to continuously invest in the latest machinery and equipment.

Another state-of-the-art technology is our technical center equipped with ap-propriate testing and ana-lysis systems. With these prerequisites fulfilled, we are in a position to carry out extensive development projects to-gether with our customers.

To take advantage of this capability, we require a competent and creative team. We are proud of the fact that our staff in the areas of construction, research and development comes from our own edu-

cational institutions and from regional universities in Ilmenau and Schmalkal-den.

This department is regularly supported by students and we also provide a plat-form for graduate theses. Furthermore, we are committed to pro-moting young talent again this year. As a donor, we support the federal German scholarship program at the Schmalkal-den University of Applied Sciences.
