letter Horizon. It is another issue which
comprises of various events conducted
during July to October 2017.Definitely this
volume will enhance the knowledge about

Entrance exam for P.G. Diploma in Yoga
7th
July, The College organized the entrance
exam for Diploma in Yoga. The college received
more than three hundred applicants for the
course. Therefore the entrance test was meant to
select sixty candidates for the course.
The names of the selected candidates were to
be enlisted on 10th
July.
Eye checkup Camp
23rd
July, The College organized an eye
checkup camp for the staff and the students of the
college in association with A.S.G. Hospital. More
than five hundred students participated in the
camp.
It was found that most of the students suffered
from problems of eyes which Dr. Jitendra
Vishwakarma attributed largely to malnutrition
and excessive use of mobile by the students.
Clean India Campaign and Oath for
Cleanliness
3rd
August, The students of the college
took the pledge that they would remain
committed towards the goal of to let
cleanliness and devote hundred hours per year
that is two hours per week to voluntarily work
for cleanliness.
They will neither litter nor let others
litter. The Principal Dr. Dewashish Mukherjee
administered “Cleanliness Oath” to the
students and the staff of the college.
Gold Medal in Canoeing
3rd
August, Our College secured a gold
medal in Canoeing organized by Raipur Press
Club and Sports Department of C. G. in the
later University canoeing competition 2017.
The names of the students are Omkar
Sahu, Vijay Dolai and Parvesh Sonwani. The
Principal Dr. Dewashish Mukherjee announced
fee concession for the winners.
Judicial Activism
13th
August, Mr. Neelam Chand
Sankhalaji, District and Session Judge gave a
lecture on Vidhik Saksharta Mission. The lecture
was on Public Interest litigation.
He also emphasized importance of Lok
Adalat in reducing the loads of millions of
pending overburdened Courts of litigations.
Independence Day Celebration
15th
August, The College celebrated the
71st Independence Day in the college premises.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was
Mr. Ajay Tiwari, President of Shiksha
Pracharak Samity, hosted the flag. On this
auspicious occasion he delivered a speech and
praised the sacrifice of martyr Vivekanand
Tripathi and lauded his role in keeping the
security and integrity of the nation. The
students sang patriotic songs and performed
various cultural programmes.
Workshop on Gender Issue
23rd
Aug, The college organized a workshop
on how to ensue gender equality and gender
sensibility among the students both boys and
girls. The chief guest on this occasion was
Hardshita Pandey, Chairperson of Rajya
Mahila Aayog.
She said that all people should have
equal rights and be treated with the same
respect. Dowry is a curse for society and in
every fifty two minutes a woman is killed in
the name of dowry. The male person should
change their attitude towards females.

Jayanti
31st July, The Hindi Department celebrated
Goswami Tulsidas Jayanti and Munshi Premchand
Jyanti. This year the key note speaker was –President
of Shiksha Pracharak Samiti Mr. Ajay Tiwari.
He emphasized on importance of Hindi. On
this occasion many students put forth opinions. They
were Payal Vishal, Pragati Sahu, Rahul and Nafeez
and all the staff members were present.

Championship

September, The college student Pragya
Tamrakar stood 1st runner up in Inter-college
Badminton Championship and was selected for
the state level.
Teacher’s Day Celebration
8th
September, The students of the
college celebrated Teacher’s Day with great
enthusiasm and fervor. They organized
different competitions for the staff.
Dr. Dewashish Mukherjee awarded the
super duper smart teacher. The students also
performed in various cultural programmes.

College volley Ball Competition

September, The College stood 1st
runner up in Inter College Volley Ball
Competition organized by Degree Girl’s
College.
The students Madhumita bera, Jagriti
Kurre, Vidya Verma and Shruti Yadav were
selected for state level Inter College Woman
Volley Ball team as a representer of Raipur
sector team.
Hindi Diwas
14th September, The Department of Hindi
celebrated the Hindi Diwas in the seminar hall. The
Chief Guest on the occasion was Shiv Kumar Sharma,
Professor of Hindi in Nagarjuna Science College.
He emphasized Hindi as a National treasure
and said that it should become a National language of
India.
Student Union Nomination and Oath
Taking ceremony
21st September, Dr. Dewasish Mukharjee
administered the oath of office and secrecy to the
newly nominated office members and Class
Representative (C. R.) and the Student Council. The
oath was taken by Miss Chandni Trilokwani as
President, Mr. Rohit kumar Sahu as Vice President,
Mr. Chetan Dewangan as secretary and Mr Akshay
Vishwakarma as joint secretary.
The member of the student union took an
oath to trot out the college problems. The Chief
Guest on the occasion was President of Press Club
Mr. K.K. Sharma. The occasion was presided by
Mr. Sukhant Rajput. Mr.Ajay Tiwari, and Mr.Anil
Tiwari.
Inter College Chess Competition
22nd
September, The college hosted the
sector level Inter College Chess Competition in
which seventeen colleges participated in both
men’s and women’s categories which was to be
continued for two days.
The chief guest on this occasion was
Rajeshree Mahant Dr. Ramsundar Das. He said
that chess is played since ancient times and is the
game of intelligence. The observer on this occasion
was Dr. Prakash Thakur, Sports officer of Sindhi
College. In women’s category Gurukul Mahila
College was the winner and the 1st runner up was
Mahant College. In men’s category Maharaja
Agrasen College was the winner and that of R.S.U.
U.T.D. team was the 1st runner up.
Renowned personality of Chhattisgarh
Teejan Bai
Teejan bai is an exponent of Padwani -
a traditional art form. It enacts the stories of Pandavas
of epic Mahabharata, using traditional music
instruments. She was born in Ganiyari village Durg
Chhatisgarh in 1956. Teejan Bai is most renowned
singer to this style, followed by Ritu Verma.
She chose Kapalik style of Pandavani, which
was regarded as the monopoly of male performers and
gained fame and popularity. She is a recipient of
Padma Shri in 1988, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award
in 1995, and Padma Bhushan in 2003. Since early
1980s, she travelled all over the world as a cultural
ambassador of India.She was awarded Honorary
Degree of D. Lit. by Guru Ghasidas University,
Bilaspur in 2004.
