Dear Parents & Caregivers, 12/06/2020
Another week gone and we are on the downhill
slide towards the end of Term 2. What a mixed up
Term it has been. Having the majority of extra
curricula activities being cancelled or postponed it
has opened the door to thorough teaching and
learning in the classroom. Something that teachers
often crave each year.
STUDENTS REPORTS
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, Reports will be given out during the last week of Term Two. Parents need to understand that this report is a revised edition due to Covid. Staff will be reporting on Math and Literacy as well as a general comment covering all other KLA’s.

PLAYGROUND/ CLASSROOM UPDATES
You may have noticed a lot of work being done in our playground and
classrooms recently. We have been patiently waiting (years in some
cases) to have these improvements added to the school.
In the 5-6 Math Room: Replacement of notice boards and a new
sink and cupboard due to termite damage.
In the playground: A new surface on the tennis cour t, plus new lines
and tennis net and also new permanent basketball hoops with basketball
lines as well.
In the school: We were successful in purchasing 11 new lap tops for
the school. The purchase of laps tops were a part of a Rural Aid initiative
and we would like to thank Rural Aid for their support. Now all students
from K-6 have the opportunity to work on their own lap tops during class
time.
Building B Cooler Classrooms: Building B (old computer room, 5/6
Math room and Art room) will be fitted with new heating and cooling
sometime this Term. Having these rooms updated means ALL
classrooms and learning areas at Spring Ridge School are fitted out with
more efficient heating and cooling systems.
LIBRARY STOCKTAKE
We have recently undertaken a full library and classroom resource
stocktake and we have approximately 30+ books missing from our
library. We encourage you to look around the house, in the back shed or
even the dog kennel to help track down the missing books. We all
understand that things do go missing or even get damaged but we do
need to have the missing books back no matter what condition so we can
either fix them or take them off the register.
Only three weeks left. We are nearly at the end. Keep focused!!!
Cheers Mrs P

It’s a mean, red, noise-making machine that blows
away everything. It bursts your ear drums and I can’t
believe that something so small can be so loud. It
has a long funnel-like spout, a small canister that’s
packed with some kind of gas, that I’m pretty sure
you don’t want near fire, and plastic wrapping
around it.

I was in the top end of Australia, chasing boars with
my dog, Jango. We were deep in the thick scrub with
only a gun and a quad. The big, boar was ploughing
through the thick, over-grown boxthorns, chasing
Jango and I. The massive, razorback boar had
gigantic tusks that could tear through muscle with
ease, so Jango and I ran towards the quad, hoping
that we would make it. I saw something shining
through the boxthorns. “It’s the quad!” I yelled, but
the dirty boar was still chasing us. We couldn’t just
run through the thorns so we started thinking where
to go however right in front of us the big boar stared
us in the eyes with an evil look.

Diary entries - check out some amazing
writing!!!
The year 3-6 class write or type a Diary entry
most days. This is to help develop their writing
confidence and it benefits students by enhancing
reflection, facilitating critical thought, expressing
feelings, and writing focused arguments or
description. Often the Diary writing is in
response to a prompt or a concept we are
discussing in class and sometimes it is just
free-choice writing. Here are some examples of
the great, expressive writing happening in the
classroom. Topic; free choice, time 5 mins
The beach had golden sand as soft as silk, water
as clear as glass and as smooth as paper and
pearls as shiny as diamonds.
I looked on a beautiful beach with pearls as big as
turtles and golden sand. Clear water shone a
bright and shiny beam right out to the ocean, like a
lighthouse.
I stood in awe on the deck of our ship and won-
dered how could no-one else have found this mag-
nificent beach? I then went right to the Captain
and told him what I saw. He said in a drunk whis-
per to tell the crew to drop anchor off shore.
