“E-Education by Broadcasting Media- Techniques and Success: Bangladesh perspective

Abstract:

Education is the first mandatory phrase of overall development of any country. Education means

improving the quality of life of every one to create efficient, active, productive and profitable

manpower. Presently we are living in such a world, where every day our life style and mode of

thinking is fully modulated by various forms and methods of information and communication

technologies and every day new forms are coming. One of the define characteristics of modern

social and cultural life has involved living and learning to live in a culture of mediation. These days

use of media is an essential component of teaching-learning strategies to achieve various national

goals—socioeconomic and cultural. Toady implementation of education fully depends on

appropriate use of technology. Education providers, faced with these challenges are seeking new

ways of educational technology to impart education. By definition technology means the practice,

description and terminology of any or all of the applied sciences of commercial value. It is not

possible to educate the Mass people through the institution under a regulatory management.

Particularly in the South Asian region where poverty level is extremely very high and very poor

literacy rate in contrast with the developed countries, there how could it possible to implement

“Education for all”? Now the basic question is what sorts of educational technology would be used

on this concern? The revolutionary development of electronic information & communication

technology--Radio and television might be used on this process. Other new forms of

communication technologies like Internet or mobile phones are considered to be the very effective

technology of mass education. These sorts of most advanced technology should not be applicable

for all countries like Bangladesh because the use of technology consequently depends on the social-

economic condition, life-style and availability of equipments, talent and intellect, power of

reception and interaction of people etc. All most every country of the world has Radio and

television broadcasting that’s why among all the forms and methods; broadcasting media is the

most common & popular. In Bangladesh considering the social economic reality govt. has been

using radio and television broadcasting for mass education broadly since the last one decade. A

significant result has already been achieved in the field of mass education of Bangladesh.

Biography of main Author: Mr. K.M.Taj-Biul Hasan:

K.M.Taj-Biul Hasan was born on 06 April 1965 in Bangladesh. He

holds B.Sc.(Hon's)and M.Sc. degrees in Zoology from the University of

Dhaka. After completing his Diploma in Photography & Film making;

He joined Bangladesh Open University (BOU) in October 1994 as an

Educational Program Producer and continued his service till March

2011. He presented papers in various international e-learning

conferences and have publications in the reputed international journals

on Film making and Educational Broadcasting. In 2007 and 2010 he got the most prestigious “The

UNESCO Japan prize” for his two documentaries - ‘Education on the Boat–Hope for

Tomorrow” and “The light of Life” respectively.

Biography of co-author: Ms.Salina Parvin

Ms.Salina Parvin was born on 16 June 1978 in Bangladesh. She holds

B.A. (Hon's) and M.A.degrees in Drama & Dramatics from the University of Jahangirnagar. She

joined Bangladesh Open University (BOU) as a Programme Officer in 15 January 2007. Her main

responsibility is to produce Educational Television and Radio programmes for the student of BOU.

So she far produced 18 Television and 03 Radio Programmes since December 2010.. Ms.Parvin has

already worked with some international television productions and received professional training

on Television and Radio programme productions. She is very much interested on educational

documentary.
