FIRST A-LEVEL BATCH GRADUATION CEREMONY
The 14th
of June was a momentous occasion for DPS STS School. There were 17 students from
DPS STS School who were the very First Batch of A-Level Students, to graduate. The
ceremony was graced by Mr. Abu Taleb, CEO STS Group, Mr. Faisal Kader COO STS Group,
Mr. Richard Tangye, CEO STS Educational Group, Mr. Sarath Jayasinghe, Director Human
Resources STS Group, Mr. Craig Salmon and Ms Helen Salmon, CEO ISD, Mr. Harsh Wal
Principal DPS STS School and Ms Madhu Wal Vice Principal DPS STS School. The parents of
the graduates also graced the occasion. The teachers of Grades 9 – 12 and students of Grade 11
were also present.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Qu‟ran by Quamral Islam Yasin of Grade
11. The Graduating Students came to the stage and received their Certificates and mementos
from the Principal. The Vice Principal then delivered her inspirational Farewell speech that
touched every heart. The audience enjoyed the School Song and then a video created by the
Graduating Students. The Valedictorian Washiful Islam Shadvi gave a wonderful speech on the
years spent in DPS STS School and thanked the authorities and his parents for their hard work
and support. The Principal then declared the Students as graduates and they flung their caps in
the air to symbolize they had indeed Graduated high school and were ready to take on the
University life. The Ceremony ended with the National Anthem followed by a sumptuous
dinner. The compere of the ceremony was Ms. Samira Nafis, Teacher, English Department. Ms.
Tarana Majid, HOD Business Department and Ms. Afrin Khan, Coordinator of A-Level
organized the programme on behalf of the school.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
2014-15 FOR PLAY GROUP
The Orientation Programme,
for the session 2014-15, for
Play Group Classes, was held
on 21st of June from 10:00 a.m.
to 12:00 p.m. Parents were
invited to attend an open
orientation morning to meet
the teaching staff and other
parents. They were able to
learn about the features of the
school, fill up the Health card
and complete the book
receiving and depositing
process. Children were in their
classes for a specific time and
participated in different
activities. The teachers
facilitated the parents and the
students for an easier transition
and answered questions on the
impending process. At the end
of the session, parents met the
Principal and Vice Principal of
DPS STS School, to get
acquainted with the DPS
philosophy of education and
goals. Around 56 children
along with their parents
attended the Orientation
Programme.
US EMBASSY OUTREACH PROGRAM
On 7th
June 2014, Counsel General Jamie Fouss and other representatives of US Embassy held a
seminar at DPS STS School, Dhaka on „Outreach Program on US Student Visa.‟ The guest
speakers addressed different issues on the merits of studying in the United States. The program
was organized in the Main Hall of DPS STS School by Ms. Tarana Majid Ahmed, Student
Counsellor and Head of Department- Commerce. The students and parents were informed about
the scope and opportunities of studying in the US. Students also learned the process of visa
application, different services and about the vast resources that the US embassy currently offers
to the students of Bangladesh. The session was very interesting and informative both for
students and parents.

TEACHERS’ TRAINING WEEK
The Principal and Vice Principal of DPS STS Dhaka arranged a 5-
day seminar for all the teachers at DPS STS Dhaka. This
commenced on the June 29th
and ended on the July 3rd
. The Guest
Speaker was an eminent Educationist from India, Mr. Bhatnagar.
Other guest speakers were: The Principal of Regent College, Mr.
William Westgate, The Principal of City School, Ms. Maria
Kashim, The Principal of Prime Campus, Mr. William Engels, The
Entrepreneur of Toru, Mr. Saif Kamal, Mr. Shakil Ahmed from
Brac University, Mr. Harsh Wal, Principal DPS STS Dhaka, Ms.
Madhu Wal, Vice Principal DPS STS Dhaka, Ms. Sonia Saadullah,
Head of Department English DPS STS Dhaka, Ms. Samira Nafis
Teacher of English DPS STS Dhaka and Grade 10 students Alavi
Wahid Zaman and Anoronnyo Neogi Orgho.
The seminar was crucial to the enriching of teachers. It placed the
teachers in a reversed role of students so that some aspects of
teaching could be unlearned and new and better methods could be
learned. Many aspects shared by the trainers were also well known
and incorporated in the teachers‟ curriculum already but this was
enriched with many ideas of new and improved technology.
Teachers left the seminar in joy, hoping to incorporate many of the
methodologies in the session 2014-15.

“Aloha International Mental
Arithmetic” competition in
Dong Cheng Elementary
School, Hangzhou, Zhejiang,
China. The Competition
commenced on 8th
June and
ended on 12th
June. Out of 100
participants from 6 countries,
Raone Ahsaan Rajjo was
awarded first place. She scored
690 out of 700 within four
minutes. Aloha Mental
Arithmetic is a proven learning
program for children in the
field of numerical
computational skills in
Arithmetic.

Chowdhury Arikto of Pre-KG
(Rose) participated in the “5th
Jatiya Shishu Chitrakala
Pratiyogita Bangladesh”
competition held in Potua
Kamrul Hassan Art School,
Dhaka. Out of 5000
participants Shabab
Chowdhury Arikto was one of
the first 60 participants. The
school recognizes and praises
his talent!
FATHER’S DAY CELEBRATION -
PLAY-GROUP AND NURSERY
Father‟s Day Celebration took
place on the DPS STS School
premises on 15th
June. As part
of the celebration, Play-Group
and Nursery fathers‟ were
invited to school for an hour‟s
program. A significant number
of fathers attended the
program even though it was a
working day, which was
beyond expectation!
Fathers enthusiastically
participated in a half an hour
activity designed by Play-
Group and Nursery classes
where they participated in a
balloon race and craft making
activities. Fathers were
cheered on by their children.
The first three fathers who
accomplished the activities
were declared as “Super Dad”
and were awarded super dad
badges. The program led to
another half an hour of
experience sharing time, with
children. Later, refreshments
were served at the Cafeteria.
Fathers expressed their
feelings on parenthood
earnestly and were very
thankful for such a program,
where they could spend a fun
filled day with their children.
The whole program was led by
respective class teachers and
co-coordinators under the
close supervision of the Head
of Pre-Primary.
FATHER’S DAY CELEBRATION - KINDERGARTEN
Father‟s Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, parental bonds, and the
influence of fathers in society. The Pre-Primary students celebrated Father‟s Day on Sunday 15th
June.
Fathers were invited to spend some quality time with their wards. Children welcomed the guests with a
song dedicated to fathers. Fathers introduced themselves and shared interesting facts about their
children, with the class. To celebrate this joyous occasion, fathers helped their children to make
Father‟s Day card in the classroom. The second activity was held in the Basket Ball Court where
Fathers got their wards dressed and ready for school. The winners were awarded with „World‟s Best
Dad‟ Badges .The Fathers were overwhelmed at the end of the event and they appreciated the efforts of
the teachers and management.
END OF THE YEAR PARTY: PRE-KG
The Year Ending Party of all the sections of Pre-KG was
held successfully on the 19th
of June. The children were
taken out to California Fried Chicken for festive
environment. The parents dropped off and picked up
their wards directly from the venue. All the children
were very excited about a party which was completely
dedicated to them. Parents were very appreciative and
cooperative regarding this event. Children were
provided with goodie bags at the end, containing a small
ball, water gun, whistle, a mask and a new pencil folder
with pencil, eraser, glitter, scissors, and sharpener,
provided by the School. Balloons were given by CFC
authority to create a festive setting for the little ones.
END OF THE YEAR PARTY 2013-14: PLAY GROUP –
NURSERY
On the 24th
of June, the School held a “Year End Party”
for both Play Group and Nursery students at California
Fried Chicken, Uttara. For the first time Play Group and
Nursery had their Year End Party outside, which was
very organized and pleasant. The venue was well-
equipped with toys which children enjoyed a lot. The
children were excited to receive goodie bags from school
and a balloon from the CFC authority. They enjoyed it
and returned home with big smiles.
INTER HOUSE DEBATE COMPETITION (ENGLISH)
The Inter House Debate Competition was held on two dates: the 4th
and 5th
of June. Three
debaters from Grades 8 and 9 represented their individual Houses and enthusiastically
debated on issues ranging from Education, the Influence of Science and Technology,
Invasion of Foreign Culture and so forth. Shabab Intishar from Grade 8 representing Ruby
House was judged the Best Debater while Nubaira Forkan and Umme Tanjuma Hoque both
from Grade 9, and representing Topaz House, closely followed in the second and third
positions respectively. The final results were as follows:

OBITUARY
We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Ms. Nasrin Akhter, Class Teacher of 1C, for the passing away of her mother, on the 17th
June 2014. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family at this time.
