The first female church of England bishop             consecrated the church of England has held             an official ceremony for its first female bishop               at York Minster.    The reverend Lane has been ordained as the               new bishop of stockport in front of more than                 2,000 people.      This mare had a bit of a mare when she got                     herself stuck in an outdoor bathtub! The             bathtub is normally used as a food container               for the horse called Phantom who lives in               California. She was dancing around when           she fell in. Phantom was stuck for 25 mins

Walker, a polar bear at The Highland             Wildlife Park, has been taken for a check-up               to the dentist.

But his wasn’t easy and it took 23 people to                   help get him into place at the park in                 Scotland. Polar bears are very powerful and             dangerous animals so Walker needed to be             asleep throughout the procedure.

Some of the world's famous people have             been caught using a selfie stick. From             Barack Obama to Beyonce, they've become           very popular over the last couple of years.               But some places are now banning them. The               National Gallery in London has announced           it's banning the use of the selfie sticks - and                   as they can damage the art and and get in                   people's way. Even football team Tottenham           Hotspur have banned the sticks because           they block people's view!

What do you think about selfie sticks???

Weird & Wacky Animals

By: Julia Beaugie and Allie Leonard

The Dodo Bird

● It is a bird that was native to the island of                     mauritius, east of Madagascar.

● The Dodo became extinct around 1690,           about 325 years ago.

● It was related to pigeons and doves! ● The dodo bird couldn’t fly. ● The dodo became extinct because it

wasn’t scared of humans and when           humans started hunting them they         couldn’t fly away.

● Dodo was about 1 metre tall. ● The dodo bird weighed 10-18 kg ● It finally became known for its role in the

famous book and movie, Alice in           wonderland.

● The last sighting of the bird was in 1662 ● The closest living relative is the Nicobar

pigeon, much smaller and more colourful           than the Dodo.

The Dodo bird is a large flightless bird.

The Blobfish

● This is a Marine animal that lives at               800m deep in the ocean

● It lives with crabs, lobsters and other             edible sea creatures

● it can grow up to 12 inches long ● The blobfish is endangered because

when fishermen pull up the         crabs/lobsters they can accidently pull         up the blobfish

● It lives in the oceans off of southeastern               Australia and Tasmania

● It is rarely seen  by humans ● Instead of swimming its jell-o like skin

allows it to float along with the currents               instead of swimming

● To eat it simply opens its mouth and lets                 small crustaceans and particles float in

The Blobfish was voted the world’s ugliest animal.

Do you know of any unusual creatures?

Ice skating to Alexandra Palace

On Monday 9 February, some         students went to Alexandra Palace for           ice skating. We asked them for their             comments on the trip! Did they enjoy             it?? Let’s find out!   Riho: I had soo much fun, I absolutely               loved it!! I would love to go again, and                 I think we should do it next year as                 well. It was lots of fun because there               were less people on the ice, so we               had enough room to skate around. I             think it is a great chance for everybody               even those of you who haven't done             ice skating before to practice. It was             awesome!!   Jake:It was great fun and the best             part was we missed all of school. I               am very proud about my badge. We             also had table tennis tournaments         and there was also a big quiz. I               recommend this trip to anyone!

Allie: I really liked the trip and I had                 lots of fun. I think we should be able                 to go on it again. It was really fun                 because a lot of my friends also             went on the trip. I think it was good                 because we were some of the only             people there, so we had a lot of               room to skate around. I think it was               one of my favourite trips this year!   Julia: I absolutely loved the ice skating trip and I really enjoyed going with school, especially since there was no one else there, so it was a great way to practice, and also a lot of my friends went as well, so it was really fun. I think we should definitely do the trip next year, because I think everybody who went enjoyed it!   Dwight Skiing Trip 2015 Some of the students went on ski             trip to France.

Dance Assembly

On the Friday before we broke up,             we had a dance assembly. We asked             some students for their comments on           the assembly!   Allie: I had fun at the dance             assembly. I think it was fun that the               year 6s got to come up with their own                 dances. I liked watching all of the             dances that everyone worked on.   Ella:The dance assembly was really fun and I wish we can do it every term! I really liked it because everybody were really supportive by clapping and not looking back at the board. I can’t wait till next year!  Riho: I was so nervous but when we started I wasn’t at all nervous, and I had  so much fun! When we finished I was feeling like I want to do it again!    This a link to watch the dances:http://bit.ly/1DNQm7I
