From the Principal’s Desk… Dear Eisenhower Parents, Next Thursday is the annual Spell Bowl competition

at Colonel Wheeler Middle School at 5 p.m. Our

coach and team have been practicing feverishly in

the hope of winning that top spot in the state! Our team has been

working exceptionally hard this year, so we are very hopeful that

we will do very well! If you want to enjoy a very exciting

competition while cheering on our Ike team, please join us at

Wheeler before 5p.m. See if YOU can spell those words! Good luck

We hope to totally defend our State Championship – please come

help lead us to victory! On another exciting note, EIGHT of our

former Ike students, who are now in middle school, will be

competing in the State Spell Bowl championship this weekend at

Purdue. They comprise the ENTIRE competing team! We wish them

A very special and sincere thank you goes out to all the PTO

parents, led by Mrs. Filkowski and Mrs. Sojka, who provided such a

phenomenal and delicious breakfast for the teachers and staff this

past Tuesday. EVERYONE loved it! You truly uplifted our spirits.

Our October “Artists of the

Month” did a wonderful job

with their artwork! It is

proudly on display in front of

the office. Our artists are:

Stella Doffin, Ellie Vester,

Skye Wilford, Isabella

Murdock, and June Kilarski.

Just a friendly reminder, as

the wintery weather starts to come to Northwest Indiana, to

please encourage your children to come with the appropriate winter

accessories as we do go out for recess unless it is raining or the

wind chill is very low. Snow boots and pants are encouraged, and it

is always a good idea to stow an extra pair of mittens and a hat in

your locker for “just in case.” The children love to play in the snow

on those beautiful winter days that are crisp and sunny with just a

little clean snow to mess around with! Of course we never throw

snow or ice, but we do make

snowmen! ☺

Today, we honor the men and

women who have served our

country in the armed forces. The

fifth grade class performed a

very meaningful and patriotic

program in their

honor. This

the morning program for the students. This

afternoon at 2p.m. we will host our veterans and

community guests.

STUDENT COUNCIL THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE Student Council will be having a Food Drive through Monday,

November 21st. Please bring non-perishables such as rice, canned and boxed foods. There will be a table set up in the cafeteria where you can place your donations. In order to have

a variety of food, we are offering these suggestions: • Kindergarten: Breakfast - hot or cold cereal, pancake mix,

syrup, Pop Tarts. • 1st Grade: Lunch – peanut butter, jelly, tuna, Spaghettios,

Velveeta cheese, lunch box stuffers. • 2nd Grade: Dinner – pasta, rice, instant potatoes, canned

vegetables, boxed dinners. • 3rd Grade: Snacks – crackers, chips, popcorn, cookies, fruit

snacks. • 4th Grade: Paper & Cleaning Items/Desserts - Toilet paper,

paper towels, soap, laundry and cleaning supplies and toothpaste, baking items, sugar, flour, cake and cookie mixes, jello and puddings and miscellaneous items.

• 5th Grade: Beverages and Dinner – canned or bottled juices, hot cocoa – use 2nd Grade dinner list.

SANTA’S SECRET SHOP - HO! HO! HO! It’s hard to believe that Christmas is right around the corner. Santa’s Secret Shop will be open for business Monday, December 5th, Tuesday December 6th, Wednesday December 7th and Thursday December 8th, throughout the school day for students in grades K-5th. Family shopping hours with be available on Thursday, December 8th from 3:45-5:00pm. Parents, please take advantage of this time to get those much needed stocking stuffers or extra gifts. EISENHOWER SCHOOL’S OPEN GYM NIGHT Come to Eisenhower School’s Open Gym on Saturday, November 19th from 7:00 to 9:00pm at the Midwest Gym (located at

1204 Erie Court in Crown Point). The cost is $10 per child. Bring your family and friends to a fun and safe environment. This event is open to all! Jump, play and just have fun! Adults can stay and watch,

or drop-off (school age kids) and have a Parent’s Night Out. We have Ike parents chaperoning this event. An adult must

sign in the kids. This is a good opportunity to let kids come and be kids. Kids can tumble, jump on a trampoline, or just play in the pit. No Jeans Allowed!!! No pants with belts, buckles or rhinestones! You MUST have SOCKS ON to participate. No Barefeet! There will be a “Class Contest” – whichever class has the most participation will win a pizza party!
